  1. I dunno. As someone who still views JJax as a legit prospect for a mid-back of rotation guy, I'd like to let him stretch out for at least one more game. That said, he's thrown 3 scoreless so far in Iowa this morning. I don't understand anyone not viewing him as a legit prospect. He's only 23 and was cruising along last year until they sarted flip flopping him between the rotation and the pen. As well they should. Still doesn't mean he should have been pitching tonight. Agreed, but even if they called up one of the Iowa junkballers, I'd would probably be better thank another Russell debackle. All those starts do is tax the entire bullpen, and with Coleman tomorrow, we'll likely need them tomorrow. I'm very unhappy with Quade for sticking with this experiment for as long as he has. Even if we called on Ortiz, Diamond, or Mathes wed have a better chance.
  2. The way both baseball teams are playing, I think it will be somewhat of a no brainer. Hell, a lot of people with tickets to the Cubs game may very well chose to hang out at a Wrigleyville bar and catch the Hawks and Bulls. If only I was a hockey and/or basketball fan.
  3. Jays only thrown 70 pitches through 6 innings, so he's been very efficient. 0R 3H 1BB 1K

  5. Ugh, if we want a slick fielding middle infielder who may or may not be able to hit, we can send a bus to the DR and fill it up with them. With all that pitching talent, I'd much prefer one of them unless Starling somehow falls to us.
  6. Barf. They should have called up Jackson from Iowa as hes pitching today. I know this is his second game back, but still, Id rather the potential of 4-6 solid innings from Jax than the promise of 2-4 disasterous innings from Russell.
  7. The Iowa slug monsters are at it again. In all seriousness, considering the dimensions of that park, could it actually be bad for guys like Jackson, Flahery, and Vitters to be sent there? If it is that easy to hit home runs, could it get them in the habit of trying to hit any routine fly ball for a home run, and then when they make it to the bigs its lucky to hit the warning track?
  8. Luckily, it was Garza and not Zambrano. That could have gotten all kinds of ugly.
  9. Doesn't help that the manager can't manage the 3-5 spots to save his [expletive] life. What would you change about it? He moved Byrd down, Pena you gotta think will eventually start hitting for power. And hasn't Soto said he prefers to hit 8th? We dont HAVE a legit 3-4 combo. Castro is great at the 1-2 spots, but I dont know if hes quite ready for the 3 spot just yet, althoug in the long run, I think he will be. Id take a productive Aramis in either the 3 or 4 spot, but other than that, we really dont have another heart of the lineup type hitter. When Sorianos on one of his tears, Id take him at any spot in the lineup, but when hes off, Id just as soon start Reed Johnson. Penas been brutal. Sure, he can take a walk with the best of them, but thats not whats expected from his spot in the lineup. I like his patience, but he needs to add some hitting to that as well. Even Soto at his best is a more of a 5-6 type hitter. The sad thing is, even if we do get Pujols or Fielder next year, we might have trouble building a lineup around him unless Ramirez somehow ends up staying, which I dont see. To be honest, I think the best possible lineup we could pull out is 1. Fuku 2. Castro 3. Aramis 4. Soto 5. Soriano (Baker vs. LHP) 6. Pena (Soriano vs. LHP) 7. Byrd 8. Barney (Pena vs. LHP)
  10. This team wasnt made to slug. they werent meant to dominate with pitching. they werent meant to dazzle with defense. they were meant to be OK at baseball in an OK division.
  11. This would be a very good time for some redemption.
  12. Damn, Kosuke has more singles than the Beatles.
  13. Is there anyway to bottle up April-May Kosuke and keep it around all season?
  14. yeah so let's just pull him from a game when he made an out and three errors. that should do wonders for his confidence, embarrassing him in front of the home crowd. Maybe Quade can run out on the field and chew him out right there. Then that lazy SOB Castro might put a little effort into his defense. Laugh if you will, but unless Castro has a big rest of the game with the bat, Id be willing to bet that he is not in tomorrows lineup. No he wont be sent down to Iowa or traded for Ryan Theriot or whatever, but he'll be on the bench, and back on the field Wednesday.
  15. Clownshoes We should probably cut him now. no,but he should be sat for a game. Hey, I love the guy, but without him, were still up 3-0 and you know its never easy for us against the damn Rockies. No, he shouldn't "be sat" for a game. That is just asinine. Everyone needs a game off here and there. The guys 21 years old, and I dont believe hes had a game off so far this season.

  17. Castro need to get his little ass yanked right about now.
  18. Jason DuBois---->Jody Gerut---->Matt Lawton---->Justin Berg. What a pointless sequence of events.
  19. Heh, so it happens other places as well besides here. Pathetic When did that happen here? I think he's talking about when those overseas hackers took advantage of our vulnerable front page That was last year then, I remember, there was some strange graphic that said you have been hacked by such and such.
  20. I definitely like the kids confidence.
  21. MLB has an entertaining fluff piece on him. Apparently hes a legend now. good for him. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20110424&content_id=18232488&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb Heres an excerpt
  22. Maybe the plan is to call up Jackson from AAA for the next Russell start. I would love to see that, but Jackson has only had a couple of starts himself. I can't see him going more then 4 or 5 innings max. Would he be really be a better option that Russell? I'm tired of seeing Russell but I have a feeling that we'll see Ortiz before Jackson. Too bad Diamond has been so bad. Whats going on with Doug Davis? Im at the point where Id take anything other then a Russell start.
