  1. So how many base cloggers have been left stranded so far? This game has been a disgusting display of not so clutch hitting.
  2. Theres no excuse not to at least tie the game here.
  3. Outcome is ok though And DeWitt probably would have grounded into a DP and Colvin would have hacked away at 3 bad pitches.
  4. Lets keep that line moving, get some more, and let Wood, Marshall, and Marmol take it home.
  5. I guess this is why its better to do more when you load the bases with 0 out.
  6. Garza probably shouldnt have walked Renteria with Votto on deck.
  7. I dont know why, but I always feel more confident when we have 2 guys on with 0 out then with the bases loaded.
  8. I wish for him to fail unequivocally why?
  9. Much of Koukses problem is the massive hype that surrounded him coming in. I remember some people selling him as a hybrid of Ichiro and Hideki Matsui. Others billed him as a .280/.400/.450 guy with 20 home runs a year.
  10. I know, traditionally, its been the "June Swoon", but what a lot of people dont understand, which I know you do is that he doesnt become worthless after the hot start, rather he becomes a solid, productive player aside from an awful June, and to be honest, the past few years, I havnt paid too much attantion to much of anything that happens in September in relation to the Cubs. The problem is, some of those ugly strikeouts...I wont use the term, but when he does it, it makes him look worse than he is.
  11. Fukudome is in a mini slump right now. 2-21 with 7 K's. 3 singles hitters at the top of the lineup is a little too much for me (at least Fukudome has been a singles hitter so far this year). That's really the main problem with Barney at the top-he's fine as a 2 hitter but it causes problems for setting the rest of the lineup. You want Castro up near the top and Fukudome is a natural top of the order hitter (plus you don't want to have Fukudome and Pena too close to each other in the order). The question is, if the hitters are so interchangeable, do you rely primarily on people being hot? If that was the case, Soriano, Soto, and Byrd would be moving up right now while Castro, Fukudome, and Ramirez would be moving down in the lineup. But I don't know if you want to make wild swings in the lineup based on a week or two of results especially when they could so quickly reverse. Is Fukudome in a mini slump, or is he being Fukudome? We've seen this before, he starts out looking like a superstar, then the bottom drops out and he becomes awful before he ultimately stabalizes at decent-good.
  12. Todays lineup: Kosuke RF Barney 2B Castro SS Aram 3B Soriano LF Byrd CF Pena 1B Soto C Garza P Looks pretty good on paper, anyway.
  13. Does Garza have a lazy eye or is it just the picture?
  14. Its easy to sit and wait for him to crash down to earth, which could happen, but maybe...just maybe our 3 million dollar hitting guru has had something to do with it. Its not like hes putting up some monsterous, unsustainable numbers here. Hes been a very pleasant surprise. In the minors, he always hit for decent average, not a ton of walks and not much slugging. The difference is, hes added some extra base hits here and there. I wouldnt be surprised at all if he settled in to similar to his minor league line of .286/.334/.374/.708, maybe a touch higher on the slugging.
  15. Yeah, looks like it. Too bad, if there are 2 non Cubs out there that Im really rooting for, its Fuld and Prior. OT: whats going on with Prior? It says hes only played in 4 games so far between the Yanks A+ and AAA teams. Is he hurt again?
  16. I could be completely wrong here, but I dont get why people think that Kila Kawhatever is anything more than somebody elses Micah Hoffpauir/Jake Fox/Bryan LaHair/Brad Snyder/etc. Sure, if the need arrises, youd prefer to call one of these guys up rather than go out and sign some retread, but theres no reason to go out of the way to aquire a guy like that.
  17. I didnt realise that Barney was OPSing .800. Or that he was our shortstop.
