  1. Jay Jackson with his 2nd straight non awful (so far) start. 6 IP 8 K 3 BB 7 H 2 ER. His day may be done as well with 94 pitches. If he can get going, Id take him well over Coleman, Ortiz, or Lopez. Hell, Id take him over those 3 even if he doesnt get it going.
  2. Judging by the amount of contenders getting weak production from 3B, such as the Indians, Tigers, and Phillies, I wonder how long before someone offers up a top prospect or 2 for him. They could view the 16 mil option as an incentive right about now, considering that its just a 1 year obligation as opposed to a 3-4 year for less annually. I really hope the Cubs make up their mind on what they plan on doing with him next year, because if they plan on letting him walk, Id much rather see what we could get, because he could suddenly become the summers top trade chip, assuming hed waive the NTC, which Id have to imagine he would to get off this sinking mess of a ship.
  3. His age and likely contract concern me. The numbers are perfectly fine, but he's 36 and those numbers indicate he'd get a contract that could take him very close to 40 (3-4 years maybe?). If we could get him on a 1-2 year deal, however, that'd be something to consider. Damn, I thought he was like 32.
  4. Hey, if it comes down to the Cards, Pirates, and Brewers, I'm backing the Bucs all the way.
  5. I'm going to word this carefully. If you don't stop using pictures in 95% of your posts, I'm going to ban you. Can you back that up, that he used pics in 95% of his posts? And so what if he did? If they were objectionable wouldn't the user have been banned for using that offense already? It would seem to me that moderators tossing around the ban thread, for trivial issues, is a lot worse for a message board than an overabundance of pictures. Posting pictures that are barely germane to the topic at hand without comment can be considered spamming/trolling if done in the appropriate quantity. As you can see from the response, it was something that irritated quite a few people. The strong wording is in response to the mods' belief that this particular poster was an old friend trying to come up with a new way of annoying NSBB. Could it be Cubs GM pulling an MC Pee Pants?
  6. According to Bruce Miles, The Cubs have released Fernando Perez. Could the I Cubs be making room for a certain center fielder?
  7. Bold prediction: The Pittsburg Pirates enter the ASB in 1st place in the NL Central.
  8. I'm really at the point where I'd like to see what it would take to hand on to Aramis for another year or 2. They can have Grabow for an autographed picture of Marianoo Rivera for all I care, but as for Soriano, unless were talking top prospects, I'd just want for them to take a significant chunk of his salary, but as much money as they have, they'll likely need to shell out more for Sabathia next year, and I'm sure that they will be very interested in Prine Fielder as a DH next year, so I don't know how much money they're looking to throw around here.
  9. they have some bullpen holes. I don't see how Grabow helps this.
  10. Just a step on the journey to the top 10. I really hope Garza can give us at least 3 more good years. How soon are you projecting him as a possible top 10 prospect? His bat has really come down to earth hard (this isn't to say he's been bad offensively, but his OPS the last three months has gone from .790 to .770 to .758 so far for June), and his defense is still a work in progress. Certainly, power isn't going to be a crucial part of his game, but I would think he would need to show some power consistency to merit top 10 prospect status. He should get enough time to work on his game, as Tim Beckham is solid enough that they probably won't rush Lee, so perhaps, if his power develops and his errors clean up, I could see him as a top 10 type at some point, but I'm just curious when you think that can happen. Honestly, I really havnt paid too much attention to him since his hot start.
  11. Good thing Zambrano can find some time to pitch when he's not off flying about and adopting brats from foreign lands, amiright?
  12. Just a step on the journey to the top 10. I really hope Garza can give us at least 3 more good years.
  13. I think the impliciation is that it's wrong that he isn't healthy enough to fly with the team, but is healthy enough to take a much longer international flight. Also, that he plans on hiring Casey Anthony as his nanny.
  14. Beeler and Whitenack are both still very much on my list. I'm not sure if Marwin Gonzalez could be considered emerging. He's 22 and in AAA, and seems to be having a breakout year, although he's been in the system since 2005.
  15. As soon as they realize that Fernando Perez is a waste of roster space.
  16. Accept for the whole McNutt having a far better season than Archer aside from the injuries thing.
  17. Game of the year, for what its worth. Of course Marmol had to make it interesting.
  18. Why the he'll would you bunt with a solid contact hitter and your slowest runner on base? My god Quades a bufoon.
  19. I know July is young, but so far for the month, Brett Jacksons hitting .417 with a 1.367 OPS and 3 HR.
  20. Brian LaHair demands his coffee! HR 25. I didnt Know Chris Rusin was promoted to Iowa, but he didnt get a very kind reception. 4.2 IP 8 H 5 ER 2 K 0 BB
  21. Whoa, what happened to the 8-0 game I left behind about a half hour ago? I do wish that Starlin would hit a few though.
  22. Hiroki Kuroda could be a decent option.
  23. I wonder if Pujols or Fielder are realistic options.
  24. I still think Barney ends up with a 8-10 year MLB career between 4-6 teams as a utility player.
