  1. As much as I enjoy KB, his one major drawback is that for every home run he hits, Scott Boras' soul grows one thousand times blacker.
  2. Not sure if I like the odds of a soon to be 36 year who relies primarily on the speed game, no matter how many SB he has this year. May as well scoop up Michael Bourn on a minors deal.
  3. Zobrist 2B (S) Russell SS ® Rizzo 1B (L) Bryant 3B ® Schwarber LF (L) Soler RF ® Heyward CF (L) Contreras C ® Wow, that's kind of terrifying, no matter which hand you throw with.
  4. He's having kind of a dud in the past month and a half.
  5. We'll see him in 5 years with the Braves when we have a 13-2 lead in the 7th and we're all 'hey, that guy.'
  6. The Padres are kind of like the 2011-2014 Cubs, only without the whole hope for the future thing.
  7. The box score alone was a frustrating experience. I can't even begin to imagine how maddening it must have been to watch.
  8. 31/77 BB/K in 81 innings in Iowa seems pretty solid. But I think it's a case of 'this dude's going to be Rule 5 eligible, so since we have a 13 game division lead, why not give him a quick look-see.'
  9. Now are we certain that they're I Cubs? Because Leathersitch would be a decent call up.
  10. If only LJ Hoes on our big league roster and about to be demoted in favor of Dillon Gee. Because that would be pretty awesome.
  11. Can't we just have a 13 game lead and let some other ballclub give Patton his experience?
  12. We made Joe Smith and Chris Coghlan pretend to be injured for this?
  13. Why must we keep Kirk Nieuwhenwhatever employed?
  14. Barely. And his D and injuries likely will preclude him from becoming anything more than an average starter. But if he plays well the rest of the season, he's a damn good trade piece, considering he's not even a true starter for us. So he's a young, cost effective, Alfonso Soriano. If we could finagle a young SP out of that (Rays, Indians, I'm looking in your direction,) I'd be all about it.
  15. The first 90 seconds of "For Whom the Bell Tolls" I suppose that would depend on how fast it's read.
  16. You can have your thumb sliced off by a table saw and be feeling better shortly after "treatment."
  17. I really wanted something to happen, not so much for us as for Jason.
  18. But being reunited with his old buddies, his douchebaggery could be kept in check. I know that he had a good relationship with Lester, so by default, I'll assume that he did with Lackey and Ross. Besides, from what I gather, he's the kind of douche who only really calls guys out for lack of hustle, and that's really not a problem for this team. As for his value, his numbers haven't been what they once were these past 2 years. And I'm not going to lie, I have no idea what his velo looks like these days. But we're not asking him to be a closer, we're asking him to be our 4th-5th best reliever once everyone's healthy. And I know that it's up for debate, but there is something to be said about these veterans with late inning experience in the post season.
  19. If we were to comeback here, I guarantee that St. Louis would look like Heaven's Gate after the party.
  20. On a side note, the Nats just released Jonathan Papelbon. And not DFA'd, flat out released.
  21. Nationals Release Jonathan Papelbon https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/08/nationals-could-be-about-to-make-a-move-with-jonathan-papelbon.html And you know that Theo wasted no time getting to the phone.
  22. Haters gotta see what's going on They can take a good, long look at the 13 game lead we'll still have after today. Wouldn't have happene vs. any other team, but the Cardinals tend to bring out the meatiest in people.
  23. He's said he really doesn't like to pitch in those sort of situations and Joe said he would do his best not to use him in such situations Well, that's HUGELY different than him refusing to do so. Pretty sure if Joe had called for him to come in he would have. Yes. Chapman did state that he doesn't multi inning saves, but when your # 2&3 reliever are hurting, I'm pretty sure he can go the extra mile. If not, he's more of a douche than we thought.
  24. A game that doesn't matter. Doesn't matter? We're not even 15 games ahead of the Cardinals! We should of course rush our second best reliever back. And Strop needs to tough it out too. I mean come on, I'm pretty sure that meniscus isn't even a thing, so much as an old timey buzz word that mothers used to use to scare their kids from running around the house?
