  1. And looking at their schedule, their Friday starter is to be announced. Seeing as Garza'a pitching tonight, keep him on a pitch count, and he could start for them then. Verlander/Garza/Fister/Scherzer is a very nice rotation.
  2. Now that Detroit is seemingly getting it together and are just 3 games back and behind 2 teams that they're significantly better than, I'd love to see them get back in on Garza. Would something like Garza and Vitters for Castalannos, Porcello, and 1 of Oliver/Smyly/Crosby/Turner be unreasonable?
  3. Although he did give up 2 hits and 2 unearned runs after this was posted. And Bowden threw 1.2 and Kd 4 with 1 H and 0 BB. Good day for the Marlon Byrd trade.
  4. I'm thinking that if Jackson were to be called up today, he'd be lefty Drew Stubbs, and in a few years time he'll be Chris Young. And that's not a bad thing by any means.
  5. WSR would "just assume" get him some lottery tickets, I guess. Hey a cleverly written grammar joke. However, the opposite is true. Lottery tickets tend to be lower level guys. What I want is guys to help out in the near future. We have Castro, Rizzo, Jackson, and maybe Vitters and Castillo to build around for 2013-2014. Whoever we trade Dempster for, why not get some guys that can be of use in 2013? Viciedo and Quintana could fit that mold, though I admit both are very iffy. As for lessening Dempsters trade value, I only brought up Soriano because of the fact that the Sox are in win now, damn the future mode. Even if we could get Viciedo and Quintana for Dempster+junk, maybe they'd also want Soriano for some lower level guys, because they could be one of the best fits for him.
  6. Honestly, I think that we're at the point where we have plenty of low level prospect for the future. While the plan seems to be geared toward the next 3-5 years, we need something for the immediate future. This brings me to the White Sox, who are in win now and to hell with the future. Any chance we could sell them on Dempster, Soriano(with us picking up around 95% of the tab) and there pick of our junk (Johnson, Baker, Mather, Camp, Corpas) for Viciedo, Jose Quintana, who's off to quite a start, but I havnt seen him and for all I know it could be another 2009 Randy Wells type thing) and a few fringe prospects (basically every prospect they have) or lottery tickets. Maybe Jared Mitchell, Nestor Molina, or Jordan Danks.
  7. He'll probably be up, not that I really want him to be at this point. At this point I believe the question is does it really make a difference? Perhaps it's just time to accept the fact that he's always going to swing and miss no matter the level and a few more months at Iowa isn't going to change that. He's pretty much learned what he's going to learn there. If they want to keep him in Iowa for the purpose of service time, that's fine but not because they feel that a few more months in Iowa will magically fix what's plaqued him throughout his career.
  8. I bet Tony Campana would have turned that poorly fielded grounder into an in the park home run.
  9. Jesus Christ, just relax. Can you not enjoy a game at all unless they win? The typical Aramis Fan/Nuts & Gum game thread exchange. Speaking of things I've seen before.
  10. Everytime Brett Jackson strikes out swinging, an angel gets it's wings. In related news, heaven is rapidly becoming more overpopulated than Singapore.
  11. Spencer converted a while back. http://www.idahostatesman.com/2012/06/14/2154549/converting-his-career-not-goals.html Isn't 26 a bit old for a conversion like that?
  12. http://boise.hawks.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?pos=P&sid=t480&t=p_pbp&pid=460671 When did this happen and why? It's not like he was a desperation, extra inning emergency reliever either. He was the first out of the pen.
  13. It's not the numbers man, he just doesn't pitch like an AL pitcher should. Plus they tend to be larger and less nervous.
  14. Did Dempster come out for a curtain call? Just curious.
  15. The prophecy is true. He's turning into Gary Templeton before out very eyes.
  16. Maybe I'd give them Jackson and a fringe prospect assuming we planned on signing Upton in the offseason. Otherwise, I'd offer Vitters and Szczur and maybe swap a few low level or fringe guys as well. Perhaps try to sell them on Volstad. If he can't make it there, he can't make it anywhere.
  17. Demp's pitching like a guy who wants a ticket off this rock.
  18. Stat of the day: # of scouts there to watch Dempster.
  19. Either these are just bad argements that have been covered in the Stewart/DL thread or you havn't quite mastered the ancient art of haiku.
  20. JaMarcus Russell likes you.
  21. ha! I like it that people are doing that though, some how Im pleased that he's annoyed by it. Although to be fair, what isn't he annoyed by? He's great to follow, but it seems like he baits people with that type of thing. Obviously if he makes those types of comments, he's just going to get more of the same. Earlier in the season, he'd always make cracks about Cubs fans going crazy with questions about Matt Szczur and later Junior Lake, so of course the result was more meatballery from Cubs fans sending dumb tweets about Szczur and Lake.
  22. I guess Baez launched a bomb over the scoreboard.
  23. Well yeah, if he's willing to accept a low base salary or a minor league deal, it can't hurt.
