  1. maybe the sexy rexy part
  2. Um, aren't there all sorts of laws that would protect the person from termination (under threat of a serious lawsuit)? It would probably be more about losing access to the sports department than their jobs.
  3. i don't think he has any information, and i don't think people have information that paterno knew about the 1998 investigation, or information about what he thought after he passed along the incident to curley and schultz. the impression i got was that he thought there should have been a proper investigation of what paterno knew or didn't know, not that he was saying paterno was innocent and should've been able to coach forever. I impression I got was that he wanted to see Joe go out on his terms to help him write his book.
  4. The victims deserved a proper investigation, but it was covered up and swept away by the powers that be in the football program, athletic department, university and State College. Paterno attempted to bully the board into letting him stay because he has always been the most powerful figure there and the one with final say. But they finally stood up to him. All they took away from him was the ability to coach a couple more games. That's all. And it was obviously the absolute right decision. They didn't ruin his reputation or legacy. The scandal, that he was a part of, did that.
  5. How the hell is Posnanski going to know the truth on this matter? He's there to write a fluff book on JoePa in time for next father's day, and that book is now worthless. I highly doubt he gained any knowledge of this situation before it all came crashing down. Look at his tweets. He's right there and barely even acknowledges that it happaned. This isn't the first time he's had a rather goofy take on things before taking a step back and realizing the errors of his ways. He was speaking to kids in joepa class anyway. He's surrounded by the passionate nutjob sycophants who can't think straight at all about the situation.
  6. He was tipped off that the Cubs were going to fire Jim Hendry replace him with Theo Epstein/Jed Hoyer and they would decide to pursue Pujols? The GM makes most of the moves but something as big as this has to go through Crane first.
  7. No it doesn't. No it doesn't. No it doesn't. It does not go against what he said.
  8. that has been discussed by some media members. I heard it on the radio while driving back from bears/eagles, plus some others.
  9. Is JoePa going to speak up about the idiot rioters?
  10. I think I've been to that Dick's!!! Why is he out on bail? Isn't child rape one of those charges the prosecution tries to keep you locked up for?
  11. All white looks cooler. Okay David Kaplan.
  12. I don't know when it started, probably as early as the 70's. But people found out about it in the 90's. Multiple people found out.
  13. Probably the worst offense Zambrano has committed in this organization.
  14. oh god no are you kidding?
  15. cbs pick-em has it as bears -.5, but the line is closer to 3 in most places now, so I think lotso of people are picking them.
  16. yes, that has been discussed
  17. Rants? It's one of the biggest news stories in years. I agree it shouldn't be in the College Football - Week 11 thread, but I don't think it should go to rants.... Also, things may be getting much worse. http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news?slug=ycn-10407023 there is a long thread on the topic already in rants. It should probably be moved out of there, but this has been discussed.

  19. : ( http://deadspin.com/5858278/joe-posnanski-becomes-an-unlikely-paterno-apologist geez Seriously, JoePa's control over people is scary.
  20. Assuming that is true, yes I agree. "If" it's true? It is painfully obvious that it is true.
  21. If you harp on all the things he does that you consider lazy then you obviously consider the player lazy regardless of how you try to word the sentence. That's ridiculous. Ramirez has been one of my favorite players on the Cubs over the last several years. Just because I like him though, doesn't mean I can't acknowledge that some of the criticism leveled against him on certain plays may be valid. sure
  22. maybe that wrigley expansion happened a lot earlier than we thought
  23. What a pathetic joke that statement is. http://deadspin.com/5858241/even-attorney-advising-victims-says-paterno-shouldnt-have-been-fired It's amazing what a stranglehold Joe has on those people. Years from now when the story settles there are going to be a lot of people embarrassed about their blind loyalty.
