  1. Yeah, not worth it. I think Floyd and Wright will still be available at 19, and I'd be okay with either one of them. Get a big name free agent receiver to pair up with either one of those guys and the position will be a tremendous upgrade over last year. Well sure, but I'd be pretty shocked if they threw that much into one position in one offseason. Wouldn't you? A free agent and a higher draft pick? No, I would not be surprised. It's almost a necessity.
  2. A douche is a douche no matter what uni he wears. Ryan Theriot was the same way when he was a Cub. A douche supporter is also a douche supporter no matter what team he follows. Ryan Dempster is dangerously close to some aspects of douchiness himself. Plus, Braun clearly tested positive for PED. Just realized something, there may be a pretty good chance SSR is a db as well.
  3. Casey Coleman will, in fact, get an opposing hitter out this season.
  4. I'm going to have to catch up with who is on this team before figuring this out. Soriano will outperform expectations. Barney will fall flat on his face.
  5. what expectations are you basing this on? what is all star caliber? If he gets in like Girardi did does that qualify (the only non-injured guy willing to go).
  6. This is really what it comes down to. All Brewers fans should kill themselves. So, keep living their lives exactly how they were before?
  7. Braun's people leaked it since they knew he was guilty and would have to play dirty to get around the obvious test results.
  8. Yes please That would suck.
  9. Hopefully the Bears won't be screwed into playing a team coming off a week and a half of rest this time.
  10. predicting failure /= rooting against i predicted failure all the time for guys like theriot, paul bako, hank white, juan pierre, glendon rusch, etc. that doesn't mean i was pissed when they succeeded or happy when they failed, though. if you were (while they were on the Cubs), that's kinda weird. There's nothing weird about it. Personally I do it as a sort of hedge. My preference is for the victory at any time, but if something bad happens I take solace that the piece of crap who screwed up is a piece of crap I want gone and hope that his failures will lead to his dismissal. I don't have it in me to stand and cheer against a Cubs player during their at bat/outing, but I can think in my head how easy it would be to accept their inevitable failures.
  11. Sure, but the important thing is that he tried.
  12. I don't think there's a dividing line between die hards and casual fans when it comes to appreciating the cost of overpaying for certain players. Plenty of die hards want their favorite players brought back at any cost.
  13. Ask Bowman, that is all he's done from day one. There is a window, but when a GM trades away one of your better players specifically because of cap purposes down the road, the expectation has to be that he's sacrificing the now for the later.
  14. somebody took the jets? I'll take the giants.
  15. Not sure why you think that about the Campbell trade. The whole point was giving up a quality player in the short-term for cap space 2-3 years from now. Bowman has done nothing for the now yet. He's been in perpetual figure it out in the future mode, then all of a sudden he trades a 2nd and a 3rd for a 5th defenseman. Seems desperate.
  16. That would not necessarily follow at all. That's the entire point. Fast runners can end up playing slow (on a relative basis) on the football field.
  17. The phrase "running in pads" doesn't just mean the physical constraints of wearing the football uniform, it's about running down the field with a man in front of you trying to prevent that from happening. 40 times are somewhat informative, but you are really over emphasizing them here.
  18. http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/17etgpycgwwkrjpg/xlarge.jpg MLB is getting serious about documenting every step of the PED testing process.
  19. am I crazy or should random Castro notes go in some other thread than this one? This one is kind of specific and about a completely different topic
  20. Jeremy Lin needs a bodyguard.
  21. Don't know much about Oduya but I did like the way Chico Resch pronounced his name on Devils games.
  22. Detroit traded Commodore to Tampa for a conditional 7th rounder. Listening to Sportsnet.ca's trade deadline live broadcast multiple "experts" are most interested with what the Blackhawks will do, and most teams seem to think they aren't going to do anything.
  23. He's not what he once was, but he can probably help a team's passing game.
  24. Peter King is a shill. He's plugged in, but he's just a guy NFL people use to spread their own rumors. I know what I think about Moss, given the Bears situation, I'd be all over it. If you can sign him and another guy, then you can wait until the 3rd of so to get a developmental receiver (another Bennett maybe) and spend the draft picks on the other needs. If the Bears had some rookie QB I'd be concerned about Moss's attitude. But he's got no leverage to be a douche, and if they ever want to cut him, that's not going to be a problem. Take the gamble.
  25. Well, the rope should only be that long but given how they shot their wad early on his contract extension, that rope is much longer for Bowman.
