  1. Hunter Ackerman with 4Ks in 2 innings so far, whats his story?
  2. That sucks they get postponed more than Daytona lately. Another dust storm?
  3. He's making sure he keeps his OBP high enough. Right now he's at 10 HBP and 8 BB. Time to start using the body armor, hehe...... On a side note, I'm kind of coming around on promoting him. Just not sure he's getting challenged in Peoria. Lake could play 3B at Tennessee, and once Alcantara comes back, I'd go ahead move him up, I think. It'd definitely be a challenge for Alcantara, but I think Baez is certainly the more important of the two and is ready to be in Daytona. Again, it's just a couple of months, so it's not something that HAS to be done, but Javy's ready, from everything we're seeing. I think he'll really only start becoming more selective at the plate when he has to. that won't happen until he starts seeing better quality pitching. He can get away with swinging at everything now but the sooner he learns he can't do that against better pitching the better.
  4. "[expletive], WHY AM I STUCK WITH THIS TALENTED PITCHER?!?! OH, WOE IS ME." Are you really that clueless or just trolling? Who the [expletive] cares how talented is. A. He's not going to be around when this teams competitive. B. This team needs to be building for the future and acquiring as much young talent as it can. It's not rocket science. We need to turn him into multiple talented pitchers that will be around for when we are competitive, that's what I think most of us would prefer.
  5. I asked Maples what happened to starting in July because the month was almost over his reply was:
  6. Soler with a hit and a SB in the first.
  7. Can you imagine having Rock Shoulders and Dan Voglebach on your side in a bench clearing brawl? I'd love to be there to see that.
  8. [expletive] Dempster, just keep him and throw him in the pen for the rest of the year. EWLDKLWDOWPADK
  9. there are several posters here that annoy the hell out of me with a majority of their post. I do a pretty good job of just skimming over them quickly enough that they don't bother me. This makes it easier to get to the more informative or entertaining stuff that I do enjoy and keeps my blood pressure in check.
  10. If you don't like someone's post, you don't have to read them much less comment on how much you dislike them.
  11. Who the hell is Ben Carhart?
  12. this would be fine if he didn't previously indicate he'd accept a trade to atlanta. that is what's annoying. That's exactly what people are angry about. he should have just kept his mouth shut. Instead he talked about how he'd agree to a trade to a contender if it would help the Cubs. He also said something to the extent of making sure they got a good return or whatever. Instead he's estentialy held the team hostage when they had a trade in olace to a team that was one that he had already said was one of his preferred destinations. So if people are angry it's because he's full of [expletive].
  13. Stop it. They didn't trade him last time for a [expletive] offer, I hardly think they will trade him this time for a worse than [expletive] offer. They may have no choice if he'll only sign off on LA. They can give him a qualifying offer and then take a 1st round pick or get Dempster back to do the same thing again next year. Teams don't get 1st round picks anymore, they just disappear now. Supplemental picks still exsist.
  14. If we don't trade him can we change the title of the thread to "The [expletive] Ryan Dempster Thread"?
  15. Stop it. They didn't trade him last time for a [expletive] offer, I hardly think they will trade him this time for a worse than [expletive] offer. They may have no choice if he'll only sign off on LA. There only other option is to hold him and hope he declines arbritration. They have a choice they can simply keep him make him a qualifying offer at the end of the season and get a draft pick. I realize some people think its likely he'd just accept a one year deal but I don't think that's likely.
  16. if they call of the deal he's the bad guy anyway at this point. I really rather they didn't trade him at all if they are forced into dealing him to LA they won't get any kind of value for him anyway.
  17. What can they do really? Sit him? I don't think that's likely.
  18. YEAH!!!! break out the pitch forks and torches I say! Lol
  19. Come on man... This team isn't going to be competitive this season or next. We needed to restock the minors with good young talent and this deadline seemed like it was going to be a prime opportunity to do that. Now we are looking at the very real possibility of doing absolutely nothing. That's not a good thing anyway you want to look at it. Garza and Dempster probably aren't going to be around when this team is good again. They might sign Garza to an extension but Id really rather have a few top prospects at this point. How can anyone be happy with a situation where we don't trade either of what were suppose to be our 2 biggest pieces?
