  1. Barry...Rozner? Boneheaded Barry? You did the whistling belly-button trick at the high school talent show?
  2. You would be wrong. Bedard has taken the mantle of best lefty in baseball not named Johan Santana title. MacPhail and company might not be the sharpest tools in the shed. But Kershaw with all his value doesn't equal bedard in a 1 for 1. I don't think MacPhail and Co. think so or he wouldn't be mentioned in trade proposals. I don't know what they are thinking, but I'm glad Andy is no longer the President of the Cubs. I wish he'd a taken his boy Jim with him. They may move him but it's not going to be for only one prospect. If they move him they will get a Miguel Cabrera/Teixeira type package for him.

  4. Well, as I said earlier today. Crawford's two of his last three years he's been a guy who hits a ton on the road. The one year he wasn't was a strange year for Tropicana Field (way above its normal Park Effects). Last year he was 342/388/874 on the road now granted that was with a unsustainable BABIP of 411 in 05 he was 314/355/850 with a BABIP in the 335 range. I think getting to a hitters park will do wonders for his career. Now would I give up Hill and Marmol for him. No, I'd give up one of them though
  5. I don't see how Crawford would need to do much more filling out. As he's already built a NFL strong safety.
  6. I know this has already been debunked, but why on earth does no one factor Kaz Matsui, Kenji Johjima, and Iwamura into the translations? I can guess why - because it'll cause the numbers to go down and there goes the whole house of cards. Fukudome struck out more in Japan than every guy mentioned except Iwamura. Yet he's going to keep his average as well as Ichiro, Matsui, and Johjima? Come on. When Kei Igawa is a strikeout machine in Japan and Fukudome strikes out 23% of the time in Japan, what happens here? I give him a .800 OPS in the form of a .275 BA, .355 OBP, .445 SLG .. Cubs got a .794 OPS from right field this year. Throw in the fact the guy that Carroll interviewed on BP radio (cafardo of the boston globe I think) Says Fukudome might get a deal in 18 million dollar range. I don't buy that but I think after hearing that he'll probably get closer to 12-14 mill than the 8-10 I orignally thought
  7. Who is this? Are we talking about the guy who hit 16 HRs and slugged 560 after the all star break? And he hit 46 in 2005 His second half was equal to a 39 HR season. Derrek Lee's 2007 = Mark Teixeira's 2006.

  9. Thats irresponsible reporting if they report Monroe is the head of any trade package. Anyways, I'd rather have Fukudome than Crawford any day of the week. -Fukudome is better in the area we need more help in, OBP -Fukudome doesn't cost anything in terms of players -Fukudome will probably be making less than Crawford by the end of his contract. Fukudome is older and most definately cost more. Crawford is due 23.5 mill over the next 3 years. If Fukudome doesn't at least get 8-10 mill per over 4 years I'd be surprised
  10. So he's a left handed soft tossing outfielder? Ugh Especially when he get's 8-9 mill a year.
  11. 2006 was only the second time in the past 7 years (along with '04 when it was slightly above even) where it played as beneficial HR park. The rest of the time it's been mid 85-95 park effect for HR. The only thing it's been a consistent hitter's benefit is for triples. I averaged the Park effects at the trop from the past 7 years together (probably not the most accurate I know) he's what I got .974 R .949 HR .991 H .986 2B 1.311 3B in comparison 2006 was 1.041 R 1.164 HR 0.972 H 0.932 2B 1.609 3B
  12. Also, Rich Hill is underrated. Anyway, if Hill is going anywhere, it's to the Marlins for Hermida or to the Orioles for Markakis. Markakis I could see. I'm not a huge believer of Hermida yet. Hill's underrated a tad because all of the really good lefties are in the AL. Hamels is the only NLer who probably is a top 5 lefty in the majors.
  13. Agreed. Crawford would add a lot to this team offensively and defensively, but for Rich Hill and what may be the top offensive prospect (albeit in a weak system) I would like someone that is an .850 OPS guy with a little more power than CC can provide. I'd see if they would accept Marshall and a couple of better prospects, though. Crawford's numbers would jump when he gets out of that giant cyclinder they have in tampa.
  14. Why? Might as well get Luis Gonzales instead of Guillen. At least LuGo won't go ******* when something doesn't go his way. Like Guillen did in California.
  15. Not necessarily. I'm not convinced that trading for Infante means that Matsui talks are dead. Either is Rosenthal. He's still surprised his sources were wrong on Floyd and Trachsel.
  16. They see him as bridge to Maybin (letting him work some things out at in the minors) or a LH option as a platoon?
  17. I wanted to the Cards to sign Eckstein because they don't go over their budget a ton and Eckstein would hurt their budget alot for such a crappy player as he is.
  18. Keppinger is a improvement to Theriot/Cedeno is akin to saying a unicorns is a upgrade over leprechauns While it was only 241 AB's his numbers dwarf Theriots/Cedenos. .332 .400 .477 equals out to an almost .900 OPS. And he's been in three organizations in the past two years and couldn't find a job (Cincy, NYM, KC) and played mostly 2B and 3B in the minors.

  20. Baldelli isn't anywhere close to a stud producer. If his one half season of good production was maintained over a full season, maybe we could talk. But there isn't a whole lot of support for the theory that this would be likely. Sure there is. Baldelli is a real solid player when healthy. His injuries have not been anything major like knee surgery. It has mostly been a nagging hamstring issue and it seems to me that by giving it a whole offseason that should be able to heal. I don't think that the D-Rays will give him away, but it doesn't really seem that he is much in their plans with all the other outfielders they have. I would think a package of Marshall and perhaps Wuertz might be enough. Both are cheap but have major league experience so it wouldn't seem like a salary dump. The Rays could put Marshall right into the rotation and use Wuertz as an eighth inning set up man. They need pitching badly. I actually think that he did have acl or mcl surgery He did like two years ago it was his ACL or he ruptured his achilles. Right before he was supposed to get off the DL or the day he got off the DL. I can't remember which. I do remember picking him up in FBB and dropping him the very next day.
  21. Upton, Gomes, Baldelli, the Erstwhile Dukes, Young and that's off the top of my head.
  22. Where would they move Upton to next if they moved crawford to CF?
  23. Jon Daniels says "Hi". Ned Coletti disagrees
  24. So now Pie is a guy who needs platooned? Come on, how is a kid supposed to learn to hit lefties, when he never faces them? Let Felix play, and lets see if he makes his normal adjustments like he has at every level so far. he hit 190/254/547 in AAA against lefties last year in Iowa and that's not even bringing up his struggles at the majors vs. lefties in 2006 256/322/649 in Iowa in 2005 he hit 253/295/743 in West Tenn If the cubs were not contenders I would be okay with him learning on the job. However, they are not and you can't have a guy in the lineup who hasn't shown he can at least hit somewhat marginally vs. southpaws.
  25. Cameron and cheap are oxymorons. meh, I don't see him getting more than Jacque's contract calls for especially with the 25 game suspension.
