  1. I think it's sometime in January but I could be wrong. I don't think my folks have recieved their stuff for ST season ticket renewal.
  2. What, Harden or Lilly? Why? Harden makes less than Marquis, and IIRC the difference between Lilly and Marquis is like 1M. With the obsession with handedness there's no way they deal Lilly and go with an all righty rotation. With the franchise leaning towards not being incompetent bumbling fools of late, there's no way they'd trade Harden. My guess would be Harden because Marquis wouldn't get the necessary piece to get peavy unless they ate his entire salary and even then it's debatable.
  3. I'd assume one of those guys would not be here if the cubs are still after Peavy.
  4. Playing IN San Diego and playing FOR San Diego are two totally different personal desires, and based on what we know, I'd be willing to bet Peavy is more of the playing IN San Diego camp. I mean have you been there? The weather is perfect. I'm surprised free agents don't clamor to sign there... But it's probably because they like playing for contenders, which San Diego most certainly is not, and which is why I'm also willing to bet Peavy is dying to go to a real team that can contend for a championship, which is why I can see him agreeing to a trade to the AL if it's the Angels (since they won't trade him to the Dodgers) Peavy makes enough money that he can move his family no problem, I'm sure. And if Donnie's story is true, it doesn't sound like they really care where they go to as long as it's a contender (or Atlanta [orToronto]). why would he consider toronto? In the AL East they fail to sign burnett or any other FA pitchers why would he even bother they then even with peavy at least two bats and probably arm away from contending with the Rays or Bo Sox let alone a re-arming yankees. If the Bo Sox are able to get involved with any gusto he's heading there. Too many overhyped prospects and overhyped players not for it to happen.
  5. if they were at the same price, yes Then we disagree
  6. but ollie perez is a better option? Please. If the choice is Johnson or Perez give me Johnson 10 times out of 10.
  7. Oh God, I want nothing to do with Oliver Perez. I agree with this post. If you think Marquis is maddening and terrible. Ollie Perez is twice as maddening and only slightly less terrible.
  8. That's not true he's required to write about poker.
  9. two things with the mets. He pushed for victor zambrano. And he couldn't "fix" Ollie Perez.
  10. He's not a completely terrible in left but he's still one of the weaker defensive OFs in the game even though he's probably the most gifted LF in baseball not named Carl Crawford. Playing him in right would be disaster. Playing him in right just because he's toolsy and has a throwing arm is a horrible idea. He doesn't read the ball of the bat very well and putting him in right would only make that problem worse.
  11. Soriano in right, Dunn in left. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a30/Halman/Kif-1.jpg *sigh* Soriano can barely left.
  12. Only one of those guy has any business playing RF for a major league team.
  13. YES!! Please get Dunn and sign him long term. So everyone can grouse how Hendry sucked in signing a guy to play right field who in general has no business playing leftfield.
  14. *ding* Peavy's true value might be high but his current trade value is probably low as the Braves are not in it supposedly and the AL is completely out.
  15. The question with Dempster is he Jamie Moyer or is he Kent Bottenfield/Mike Bielecki.
  16. Cubs don't have enough in their farm system to get this trade done. Face it folks that management has made some bad decisions in deals that they have signed. Nobody is going to be willing to take on Soriano's contract let alone all the stipulations that go with him, ex has to bat leadoff. Now you have Fukudome and its not a good thing when you get in Lou's doghouse but again folks management had to have this guy and now your stuck with him. There are deals that the Cubs could make but it would pretty much over haul their current roster. What a ridiculous thing to say.
  17. http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sports_baseball_marlins/2008/10/trade-front.html Yeah Scott Olsen has a passion to play but he also has a passion for being a world class ***clown.
  18. No it wouldn't Mike Wuertz-Murton to save the day. He's so good.
  19. I'm sure the players union will allow that. :pig: :banghead: :nea:
  20. That trade has as much chance of happening as Richard Nixon getting out of his grave and strangling gerald ford.
  21. Wait when did Peavy become Johan Santana on a Brawndo/HGH cocktail Good lord, If that's not going to get it done. No one else will be get him either. Short of the Red Sox. But that's besides the point anyways. Shark is not being traded this offseason. Peavy and Santana are the #1 and #2 pitchers in baseball, and it's not even particularly close. And since Peavy is under contract for three years, whereas Santana is under contract for one... well, it's gonna be pretty expensive to pick him up.
  22. Who cares if he walks guys. It's not like he is a 1.50 WHIP type guy. But I agree about his value being migitated by the said team. I know this I've said it about 50 times already. I agree but the idea that the cubs couldn't get to the table with such a offer (lets say switch out Shark for Marshall and Fontenot) is silly. It's a solid offer.
  23. One of the top 10 or so relievers in the game who's still cost controlled and three likely top 100 prospects. I don't think I'm overrating anyone. If you want to get technical. A Peavy trade is closer to the Bedard trade where at the time the O's got a decent reliever in Sherrill, a good pitching prospect in Tillman who stunk in high A with the O's, a toolsy OF in Jones who has had some service time, a tall reliever and a potential back of the rotation starter. Peavy's value isn't what it was last year when he was Cy young winner. He missed some starts this year and K/9 down and K/BB his went up. No whether this is blip on the radar remains to be seen.
