  1. Well, so much for that Z for ARod trade. They must have given Clemens a zillion dollars. They need pitching. Plus, the Astros suck so it was an easy decision.
  2. What? This inning could really get away then we'd be angry because no one was warming in the 'pen. He wasn't pitching that badly. He was consistently 0-1 on hitters until Eyre got up...and then magically he goes 3-0 on that hitter. Coincidence? I think not. Plus, Eyre is packing a gas can with him to the mound. Wrong guy to put in the game anyways. It doesn't matter who the guy is in the bullpen. You were upset that anyone was up because you didn't think he was pitching badly. He escaped. A better hitting team probably would have knocked him out of the game. DEROSA

  4. What is going on? Terrible work by WGN. WGN is working fine for me.
  5. I hope Pie wasn't listening to music under that hoody. He was sitting there, seemingly, singing and rocking.
  6. No, it isn't a push because Zambrano has proven to be far more durable than Sheets. Let's see if Sheets can stay healthy this whole year....
  7. Nationals.com Don't they think someone should look into this?
  8. Is this definite? Last I heard, they were considering playing him in left some early on after his injury. Yes
  9. Soriano is now the regular starting Left Fielder. He won't be in CF any longer.
  10. Jones might be in CF and, reportedly, both Floyd and Murton have nagging back injuries (DeRosa too for that matter) but that could be why Mark is in RF today.
  11. I don't know the lineup but Theriot is at 2B, Izturis at SS, and DeRosa is in RF.
  12. In fairness, I don't think it's so much a celebration of mediocrity as much as it is an acknowledgement of winning. On April 24 the Cubs lost to drop to 7-13. From 4/25-5/5 (8 games) they are 7/1. During the same time span, the Brewers are 7/3.
  13. Maybe we can get a bunch of runs off of him early and get to the bullpen early... Could be likely. If he's complaining about soreness, I see some runs bunched up, then an early exit. . I just posted this as an FYI. I hope that they wouldn't let him pitch if he were really injured.
  14. Really, the Cubs need to keep playing well, or it will quickly become a 1-team race. The Brewers need to do the same; They don't have a big lead on the Cubs. They have a 5 game lead on the Cubs, and a 6-7 game lead on the rest of the division. It's not like there's a clear separation right now between the Cubs and the rest. There is, however, a clear separation between Milwaukee and the Cubs. I edited my original post to explain my position... They don't really have a 5 game lead on the Cubs. The Cubs are 14-14 (28 games) and the Brewers are 20-10 (30 games). That's why the Cubs are only 4 back in the loss column with 2 games yet to be decided (which makes it possible for the real lead to be as small as 2 games). The Cardinals have played 28 games as well but they are 7 back in the loss column (11-17). HOU and PIT have both played 29 games with identical 13-16 records. However, the Reds are the only other team in the division to play 30 games (13-17) so they are a legitimate 7 games behind the Brewers. The Brewers will lose games. As long as the Cubs take care of their own business they will be fine.
  15. Really, the Cubs need to keep playing well, or it will quickly become a 1-team race. The Brewers need to do the same; They don't have a big lead on the Cubs. The truth is, the Brewers' lead over the Cubs could be as small as 2 real games. The "5 games" in the standings is deceiving because the Cubs are really only 4 back right now. I also keep emphasizing that the Brewers have played 2 more games because the true lead is yet to be decided (it will be when both teams have played the same number of games). Right now it's 4 games but it could be 2 (or 6).
  16. Are they far enough out for me to make a trade for Adam Dunn thread? LOL, I think they are actually. They can't be a serious contender for the division with that pathetic excuse for a bullpen. This thing is quickly becoming a two team race.
  17. Debbie Downer. Negative Nancy. Pessimistic Patsy. Kimmy Gibler. This made me L-O-L
  18. Reds lose 9-7 They are now 13-17 and 7 games out
  19. It's Cox. I saw it on the AFLAC trivia question the last time the Cubs were in ATL.
  20. Actually, if you look at the Brewers and Cubs schedules, they play the same teams (save the interleague series). It's pretty interesting how closely they match: Cubs: PIT 4/30-5/2 MIL: PIT 5/3-5/6 Cubs: WSH 5/4-5/6 MIL: WSH 5/7-5/9 Cubs: PHI 5/11-5/13 MIL: PHI 5/14 5/17 MIL: NYM 5/11-5/13 Cubs: NYM 5/14-5/17 Cubs: CWS 5/18-5/20 MIL: MIN 5/18-5/20 Cubs: SD 5/22-5/24 MIL: SD 5/25-5/27 MIL: LAD 5/21-5/23 Cubs: LAD 5/25-5/27 Cubs: FLA 5/28-5/30 MIL: FLA 6/01-6/3 MIL: ATL 5/28-5/30 Cubs: ATL 6/01-6/3 Cubs vs MIL 6/4--6/6 Cubs: WSH, PIT, CWS, FLA, and ATL at home. MIL: PIT, WSH, MIN, ATL, FLA, and the Cubs at home Both teams have two road trips in May that are 7 games and 6 games respectively.
  21. Tribune I feel sorry for the guy but the Cubs need people who can produce on the ML team. Hopefully, he can work on his offense in AAA.
  22. 9-5 another hit with a runner in scoring position. The Reds bullpen has imploded.
  23. Now 8-5 Colorado over the Reds Santos threw 3 pitches since entering the game: single, homer, and a double
