  1. Tossing the ball to an opposing player is about 50% less horrible than laying a devastating, season ending cheap shot on an opposing player. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/breaking/chi-chicago-bears-news-weems-fined-20121130,0,7751614.story
  2. I don't care which way is "right"... Just which way is most effective in each scenario. Most the time, I'd agree that going for the INT is the best bet, I just don't see it in this one.
  3. that's exactly what meatballs say and why they're meatballs. I just assumed "meatballs" said things like, "They should have kicked him in the nuts, then he wouldn't have caught it."
  4. Fixed. I keep talking to some of my friends who are Packers fans, and they are starting to agree with me about this one. Had one of Jennings, Williams, or Woodson just swatted the ball, instead of trying for an interception, the ref wouldn't have had a chance to blow the call. They didn't NEED an interception there. Just swat the ball out of play and be done with it. sure, that works: i hate this meatball concept that batting the ball down is some kind of foolproof way to defend the hail mary. the same coaches that teach you to bat the ball down also teach the tip drill. catch the [expletive] ball All 3 of those tips happened near the hash marks and at the front of the end-zone. The Seahawks "catch" was in the back corner. The Packers had 3 guys on it. If they smack it backwards, it's out of play, and the ball doesn't even have to go very far. Just because it doesn't work sometimes, doesn't mean it won't work ever. It may be "meatball" but that's how I was taught back in the day. My apologies.

  6. Lovie was quoted as saying Hester might be out "a while".
  7. http://www.csnchicago.com/11/27/12/Cubs-completely-redo-Wrigley-playing-sur/nbcsportscubs.html?blockID=806771&feedID=10336 I can't get that link to work, so I don't know if the article mentions this or not, but my brother's degree is in horticulture and he says the Cardinals have a cooling system in the field to keep that grass at the right temp in the summer. They run chilled water through pipes laid in the ground. This is because that grass is only naturally found at certain altitudes in the Rockies and is easily killed above certain temps. That link is jacked up. Here's a better one: http://www.csnchicago.com/baseball-chicago-cubs/cubs-talk/Cubs-completely-redo-Wrigley-playing-sur?blockID=806771&feedID=10336 No mention of cooling system. I've heard similar stories, though.
  8. I'm 99% sure I have that card.
  9. Revenue sharing? With the top teams taking in more won't they have to pay more to the pot to be distributed to the bottom feeder/small market teams? That helps some, but the Dodgers will still be taking a majority of that revenue, if I'm not mistaken. I hope I'm wrong, though! Looks like teams pay in 31%, so approximately $74.4m for the Dodgers (just on the TV deal). That leaves them with $165,600,000/year. On top of that, they will get a % of that back in the revenue sharing until 2016, when the 15 largest markets will stop getting a share.

  11. Gimmicks always work.
  12. The $250m+/year the Dodgers will be getting is quite troubling to me. How are small market teams going to be able to compete? I understand that money doesn't always win, but it certainly helps.
  13. I think you mean "moo point".
  14. I really don't think that should be an issue. The whole "Cubs Way" manual that is being/has been created should have everybody preaching exactly the same thing top to bottom. I think having more guys just allows more individual attention for each player and time to work on things. Plus, another set of eyes to spot potential problems with mechanics can't be a bad thing. Christians have (for the most part) the same manual, but that doesn't stop us from being hypocritical, arrogant, and (often times) wrong... The manual argument wasn't great, but your religion analogy is just plain terrible. There aren't 2B people in the team's front office and Christians can't be "fired" for incorrectly following their manual. My point is that people can and will read the exact same text and get a different meaning out of it.

  17. If Amendola stays healthy, I would LOVE him on this team. He would be a great 2-3 guy. Not afraid to run into traffic. As he currently stands, he's the Rams' #1 guy though. I think a lighter load would do him wonders. Clady will not reach FA, unfortunately. That guy is a beast.
  18. What was up with the defense last night? It just seemed they were out of place on every play. Did they not review any tape of the 49ers? Did having Kaepernick in instead of Smith make that much of a difference that it messed up all their scheming? They got beat at just about every position. Also, are the 49ers capable of making any plays without dancing afterwards?
  19. Do the 49ers make ANY tackles without dancing afterwards?
  20. You think Gould will miss the extra point after the defense scores? Because the defense is probably going to be the only thing that scores. Not only that, he bashes the Chicago grounds crew for the missed XP.
  21. I ALMOST wondered if he would become our closer now that Marmol is gone, then I remembered.
  22. Kaepernick seems like a nice guy, according to his wikipedia page (which was obviously written by his mother.) Also, he was hitting 92mph on his fastball in HS. Looks like he can sling it. He also scored a 37 on his Wonderlic test, but that doesn't mean much. Blaine Gabbert scored a 42.
  23. Blame IMB. I drive an E Honda Cammy Am I doing this right? You dropped the Balrog on that one. Toyota makes the Cammy.
  24. =D> I was trying really hard to figure out how to use Chun-Li. Well done.
