This all just goes to show how shifty and unpredictable relievers are. You could have made a very good case the Cubs had the best bullpen in the league prior to the start of the season. Relievers should not be signed to multi-year contracts. Other than closers, here are all the consistently good relievers I can think of off the top of my head: Scot Shields And Scott Linebrink. That's about it. Howry was close to that level, but Dusty may have damaged him.

Rocky got his butt handed to him. His stats may be ok, but he let in just about every inherited runner he had.

Something is wrong with Howry. His velo is inconsistent and the spin on his offspeed stuff isn't tight at all. I blame Dusty.

I'd rather have him bat with two outs and the bases empty than a good hitter. Might as well save the good hitters til situations where they can do more damage. Yup. Same thing with pinch hitting Blanco yesterday.

I'd let Dye face Ohman. He's sub .600 OPS against LHP this season.

Uribe has a whopping .650 OPS against LHP this season. Maybe, but he is facing the human gas can. Ohman has destroyed lefties all throughout his career and this season is no different.
