  1. I'm not putting much stock into what Rosenthal is saying since it contradicts Bruce.
  2. Doesn't matter, he's not effective at any position and he can't stay healthy.
  3. Fontenot hammers righties and Aurelia hammers lefties...makes sense to me. How's his glove? Considering he's been mostly at first and third lately, I'm guessing it's not very good.
  4. Cashman is not keen on giving up his minor league prizes. He'd much rather sign free agents.
  5. DeRosa, Pie, Marquis, and Marshall? Done, done, and done (and I wound't mind Dunn either). Where do I sign?
  6. I honestly just can't see Milton Bradley working out well, especially if DeRo is dealt. I'm probably the only person here that is absolutely against this move.
  7. Whoa. I've missed a lot. Can anyone break down what the rumored deal is?
  8. http://masnsports.com/2008/12/the-40-man-roster-and-whos-exp.html Eh, it's very interesting. I hadn't seen it before. But I can't let myself get excited about something like that.
  9. I was hoping Iowa would leapfrog MSU. Oh well. Despite the records, I think there should be little doubt that Iowa is a better team than either Northwestern or MSU. That said, I'm happy to have leapfrogged just one of them. Both would be greedy.
  10. It sounds like the Capital One Bowl is having a hard time deciding between Michigan State and Iowa.
  11. you'd rather have a low .800's OPS RF with terrible defense (abreu, ibanez) than jake peavy? He didn't say that.
  12. Abreu and Ibanez aren't marginally better than Winn. They're much better.
  13. I wouldn't bet against Chad Gaudin being able to outperform Marquis or Marshall next year. No reason to nontender him.
  14. After the ownership situation is resolves? That could take a long time, no?
  15. That they want you gone? Sure. But you can not waive it for the duration of your contract if you choose to.
  16. I come to realize that people will simply hate good teams. And Alabama is a good, soon to be great, team. And the hate on this board against Alabama will make me smile. lol. there are probably like two people on this board who hate alabama. i really don't care much about them; i just like goofing on them at your expense. i'm not exaggerating when i say that you're the biggest homer of anybody on this board, for any team in pro or college sports. I'll go on record as saying I'm one of the people who hates Alabama. I hate the team. I hate the university. I hate the whole state (and several of it's neighbors).
  17. I guess loyalty to the only franchise he's ever played for doesn't count for anything? The O's, long term, probably are better off trading Roberts now but they still have to field a team and they still have to sell tickets. There asking price is high because Roberts is a very popular player and O's have aren't far enough removed from the glory days of Cal Ripken to embrace rebuilding. They should be but they aren't. Loyalty schmoyalty, that franchise is a complete disastor, and have shown no signs of turning things around. If you have the chance, you should want to go to a contender, unless of course, you enjoy that extra month off. Baseball is a job. Players have a life outside of it. If I lived in a city that I loved, I might want to stay on a team even if they weren't very good.
  18. I would be very thankful for Jim Hendry if he were to acquire Jake Peavy.
  19. AVG/HR/RBI is not a popular way to slash the stats around here, friend.
  20. Iowa not being ranked will be corrected by some of the bottom half of the top twenty-five losing this week.
  21. I wasn't talking about defense, even if was playing in left field. His OBP was .300 last year.
