  1. In case anyone's curious of the view from the peephole... http://img24.yfrog.com/img24/9167/60z.jpg If you look really close, you can see all the Cubs at home plate.
  2. After my class ended, I got off the train at Addison and went to the peephole to watch the rest of the game. Best decision ever.
  3. That's the dumbest decision I can ever recall Lou making.
  4. Lets see if Stone has the balls to call out Leyland, like hes tried to with Bruce. I absolutely look forward to his response.
  5. As someone who doesn't have much experience with their fans.. why?
  6. blue jays will demand a king's ransom to trade him within the division. which is why nothing has happened. They want Joba AND Hughes from the Yankees, or Bucholz, Lowrie, and some top prospects from the BoSox I was wondering if anyone else felt this way, but doesn't anyone else feel the red sox and Yankee prospects are overhyped by the Media, such as ESPN? I mean they mention these prospects all the time and none of them has really panned out to anything except for maybe Joba and Joba really isn't that impressive to me. I just feel it sucks that the prospects for both these teams get overhyped to the point where people start to think these prospects are up there as far as farm systems. I mean wasn't Melky Cabrera regarded as a top prospect and to this day still mentioned as a center piece in trades when the dude has been "ok" but not as great as some people made him out to be. I mean man, i know more about the Yankee and Red Sox prospects than i do about the cubs. You hear more about them, and that may make them overrated a tad, but how Joba hasn't impressed you is beyond me. He's been very good in his time in the majors and should get better. Hughes, Buholtz, etc... also legitimately very good prospects that would get hype no matter which system they came from.
  7. I know it sucks that Jim Rice got in without really deserving it, but it doesn't mean that Andre Dawson should get in for deserving it even less.
  8. Pierre's got a fat bat and can really tear it up on the bases too!!! Let the other guys drive him on with some ding dongs! He'd be a good starter in any outfield in baseball!
  9. Didn't they just get another first baseman?
  10. I hadn't looked at how he'd been doing and I hadn't heard a thing discussed here. I knew he started out well, and I figured he might still be doing okay. Not so much... 55.1 IP 1.825 WHIP 45:37 K:BB 7.64 ERA Ouch. Sorry Rich.
  11. So it sure sounds like the Pirates are the only team the Cubs are really dealing with. Gorz, Grabow, Duke, Sanchez... let's just take em all. If we get Duke though, where's he gonna pitch when everyone is healthy? Are they gonna bump Wells out of the rotation?
  12. I wish I had any confidence in it coming to be. However, I don't. Not to derail the thread, but is there any talk of firing Dusty in Cincinnati? I'd imagine he's worn out his welcome.
  13. If we can win three of four, or even sweep, there's a decent chance we'll gain some more ground on a Cardinals team that's playing the Dogers in a four game series. Dream scenario, we sweep, they get swept... 4.5 up. Hooray!
  14. I was waiting for that in my section too. Once they pulled them down, we got really excited, but then.. nothing.
  15. Isn't Fox basically a RH Mark Teahen? Levine also mentions in that article that they're looking at Doug Davis, Jon Garland and Tom Gorzelanny ( :-& to all three) and Orlando Cabrera as a backup middle infielder. I don't think Fox and Teahen are a good comparison at all. Teahen can play a lot of positions and play them acceptably, and he's a completely different type of hitter than Fox. Given that Teahan is left handed and can play second, he seems like a much better fit than Freddy Sanchez for what management is looking for. He'd come cheaper, too.
  16. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=4331872 Traditional cricket can be a bit tiresome, and an American audience just wouldn't deal with it well. Twenty20, while still longer than a baseball game, could certainly appeal to the same kind of people baseball appeals to. I was in Australia earlier this year, and they're crazy about cricket there. It's really a fun game to watch.
  17. I feel like we can count on him for AT LEAST 15 ding dongs!
  18. I'll be at the Detroit Tigers game today. Very excited. Still, I'll be scoreboard watching this one. Anyone been to Tiger Stadium? Is it nice?
  19. This is the first year I might not get Iowa season tickets. I really like watching football on TV while drinking as opposed to in the corner of the stadium with a terrible view, not drinking.
  20. As someone who was once Adam Dunn's biggest fan, I'm becoming a bit of a believer in the value of defense and just how much it takes away from his bat. I wouldn't say it makes someone like Nyjer Morgan more valuable, but I'd certainly say that Dunn is about the worst .900+ OPS player in baseball and it's just because he costs so many runs on defense. If he was a DH, of course, that problem wouldn't exist. But he's not, and as it is, a huge amount of his offensive value is neutralized by how much he costs his pitching staff in terms of giving up baserunners, extra bases, and ultimately runs.
  21. Stand by it. I like Kevin Gregg and I like the draft picks he's going to get us in the offseason.
  22. That was needless stressful, but it sure is nice to get a win. Hopefully the Cardinals drop a game in Philly tonight.
  23. I also started the "Kevin Gregg is a sham closer" thread, just FYI. Outside of a rocky start, he's been outstanding. He's even done a pretty good job racking up strikeouts. And this will look stupid if Gregg blows this save.
  24. That is staggering. If our offense could simply be league average, how god would we be?
  25. Why wouldnt you have used Hoff right there? Because it didn't work. Duh.
