  1. That didn't strike me as particularly optimistic.
  2. I've heard Heath Bell's name thrown around.
  3. Everything about Gorzo's minor league track record suggests he should be capable of success. Hopefully he shows it.
  4. You know, I'll go ahead and say it. I love Andres Blanco. I think his glove is so good that he absolutely deserves a spot on the team. Miles brings nothing to the table. And Lou's not stupid. Shark will be gone. I'm also strangely excited to see Gorzelanny. His minor league numbers and limited success in the majors seem to suggest he's capable of being a decent pitcher in this league. Hopefully he can pitch well for us.
  5. Geovany Soto and Randy Wells. Except not about each other.
  6. Watching gameday; what happened? comebacker to wells, who whiffed on it, but it tipped off his glove right to Theriot who threw him out at first Luck? Wells picked up that trick years ago.
  7. At this point I think we all appreciate Ryan Theriot.
  8. Uh oh. Hopefully Wells can get out of this unscathed.
  9. Man, I love playing against Dusty's hackers. Is that what the 2006 Cubs were like?
  10. Put a decent defense behind him, and I think he's easily above league average. For Wells more than any other Cub, the decent defense is key. Yup, exactly. And I think that's why I like him. The guy challenges hitters (throws a ton of strikes), and has just good enough stuff to do it. Reminds me of Lilly in that way. Lilly's strikeout numbers void that comparison. I think a right handed Mark Buehrle is more accurate. Not as good, but the same mold.

  12. I'm falling in love with Randy Wells. I know he's not this good, but I think he's going to end up as a solid starter that gets a lot of groundballs and doesn't walk many. That's nice to watch.
  13. Not on Twitter. Not true.
  14. Win the series in Cincinnati and the Florida series becomes a distant memory.
  15. I'm not sure how to process this information so I'll just say that I really like that new Taylor Swift song "You Belong With Me." The music video is really cool. Consider it a guilty pleasure.
  16. because he's better than kerry wood No. He's just not. Wood is struggling in his first year in a new league. He'll be much better next year. Gregg just has long periods where he just plain sucks, like April and the first 2 days in August, for example. Kerry Wood has also gone through long periods of sucking this year. From April to August.
  17. Well he's been a hell of a lot better than Wood at a lower price, for one thing.
  18. The past two days have sucked, but he's been pretty solid for a while now. I doubt he's going to lose his job.
  19. I know first place at this point isn't a huge deal, but I was really looking forward to climbing back into it.
  20. Wow. I guess that's our payback for Kerry Wood's return to Wrigley and the success we enjoyed as a result of it? What a joke.
