Put a decent defense behind him, and I think he's easily above league average. For Wells more than any other Cub, the decent defense is key. Yup, exactly. And I think that's why I like him. The guy challenges hitters (throws a ton of strikes), and has just good enough stuff to do it. Reminds me of Lilly in that way. Lilly's strikeout numbers void that comparison. I think a right handed Mark Buehrle is more accurate. Not as good, but the same mold.
