  1. I just don't see a way the Cubs become a player in this even if they didn't have Derrek Lee taking first base already.
  2. It's a daily read for me. A free site that pulls together a ton of rumors from all over the place is a nice thing to have this time of year and around the trade deadline. Same here. I've been going there since it started. I just didn't realize how big the site has gotten. And how far it's come since it's early days, when you could just email the guy anything and he'd put it up on the site.
  3. Heres another of note. Many have him pegged as the Cubs target but MLBTR has him with the Pads. We all know that the Pads are in desperate need of offense, but I dont see Cameron as a guy who could help them out. You cant take a guy with mediocre offensive stats and put him in one of the worst hitters parks in the game and expect results. Cameron doesn't have mediocre offensive stats.
  4. I like Hardy a ton, but I doubt they could've gotten a "solid" starter for him. I wish the Cubs would've gone for Hardy.
  5. Yeah, Mike Cameron is still quite solid despite some posters putting their hands over their ears and pretending he's not.
  6. Anyone who makes a big deal about anyone getting caught with weed deserves scorn, regardless of the race of the person that got caught.
  7. The Rockies can get WAY better than Derek Lowe.
  8. Glad Hendry won't have a chance to get Hermida.
  9. How does it fill two holes? Jake Fox has almost no value to a National League club. Stick him at 1B and let him grow into it. Assuming he will hit, he won't be the worst 1B in baseball. Assuming he hits is not a safe assumption to make.
  10. So let's pretend the Cubs just won instead of the Yankees. YEAHHHHHH! What would Joe Buck's call be? "Bartman, goats, curses, Moises Alou, all in the rear view mirror! The Cubs are world champions!"
  11. I proposed a deal for Vazquez (page 9) on Saturday: The Braves need bats and maybe Bobby Cox could control Bradley. Other posters shot down the proposal, but if Bradley behaved I don't think the offer would be too far off. I suppose the quality of the prospect might be the sticking point. Are you aware of just how good Vazquez was last year? That wouldn't be close unless we're talking about giving up Castro or Vitters. That's why I have a problem with arbitrarily adding "and a prospect" to the end of trade proposals. You might as well just say two major leaguers and a prospect.
  12. Ah. I read "really" as "actually."
  13. Oregon would rip them to pieces. I'd like to see that matchup. If Oregon would win so easily, why would you want to see that matchup? So we can finally get the verdict if Iowa is really good or just lucky. FWIW, I do think they're a top 10 team right now but there's not a whole lot of quality out there this year. Here's the verdict: it's really stupid to think Iowa isn't good. If you don't think they're in the same league as Alabama, okay. But they're good, there's your answer.
  14. I'm as stressed about the Indiana game as any game this season. Teams like this have always nipped Iowa in the butt. Hopefully we can rid the game of its competitive aspect quickly.
  15. I can't wait. I hope Fox makes a video montage about Wrigley Field set to Band of Brothers music so the series won't be soured for me anymore, like it was after they used it in St. Louis.
  16. If you don't have to pickup any of the contract, it would be almost difficult for a deal not to be worth it. I mean, sure, it's worth it then. But is that realistic at all?
  17. There are some pretty interesting rumors being floated, especially by Levine. Sounds like Hendry may be trying to trade Soriano. If Soriano is moved, maybe Burrell makes sense in LF. But I agree, Burrell doesn't seem to have a place on the team as it stands. If Hendry could move Bradley and Soriano this offseason he should get the Nobel Prizes for Peace and Economics. Not if it's for Vernon Wells and Pat Burrell.
  18. Selling low on Soriano seems pointless.
  19. I said this on 312sports so I'll say it here too; I have on very good authority that the chances of Bradley being back are 0%. I'm not dropping names, and I'm not someone who typically has some source within the Cubs. But I did get this info from such a source. There is zero chance Bradley is back. Zilch. We can speculate about it but the chances of Bradley returning are as high as the chances the Cubs win the World Series in a couple of weeks.
  20. http://www.kansascity.com/485/story/1529382.html Steroid jokes. Let's get started.
  21. The song actually was playing there... but I could barely hear it over stupid Fox noise.
  22. Zombie Nation? Naw, not that one. They might have only played it after the touchdown preceding the most recent one. Argh.
  23. This is the only thing I care about from the game today; what is the song the Bengals play when they kick the ball off? It's some cool piano riff, and I really want to find it.
  24. 120 right. For some reason I started missing some at 2001, then got 1998 right, then started drawing blanks.
