  1. When you've got GMs like Hendry and Krivskey involved, it might.
  2. Option B is what I was going for.
  3. How are we showcasing him if he's on the bench? They're going to have a scout sit in the dugout and check out his attitude and leadership abilities. They also want to check if the shade of his hair matches their logo.
  4. I know this is just mlbtraderumors, but I'd definitely be curious to know if Bruce Levine actually said it, or if the better Bruce has a take on it. Unconfirmed Rumor: Cubs Looking At Griffey, Dunn Didn't hear the report myself, but a loyal reader dropped me an email. Apparently a recent Bruce Levine report for ESPN Radio 1000 had some interesting Cubs rumors. Levine says the Cubs might try to trade for Adam Dunn or Ken Griffey Jr. Any deal would likely include Sean Gallagher, and the Cubs called up Matt Murton today to showcase him. Any truth to anything in that report, Bruce? Did anyone hear Levine mention it or is that all just garbage?
  5. Not if he's not starting every single day we don't. Lou better not mess this up. My Matt Murton autographed bat isn't going to accrue any value by him sitting on the bench.
  6. Not to nit pick, but this is an incredibly common mistake. It's "might as well."
  7. Well, I'd love to see him out of the rotation. Let's assume for the moment he does slide into the bullpen as a long relief man. Who replaces him in the rotation? Dempster seems to be the most likely choice, and then you'd make Marmol the closer. How would Dempster do as a starter? I'm not sure if it would be that much better than Marquis.
  8. You're going to have to explain that Ron Zook picture to me.
  9. Payton's not in his walk year. Nor does he get on base at a decent clip. His career OBP against lefties isn't even .350.
  10. I just, personally, can't imagine that Hendry will let one of his offseason prizes be relegated to bullpen duty unless he starts pitching like the worst pitcher in baseball.
  11. He's had quite a few epic bad outings if you ask me. Last night is the kind of piss Lou off kind of outing that could force his hand. I'm talking like five or six straight epic bad. Otherwise, I don't think Hendry will let Marquis be anything but a starter regardless of what Lou wants.
  12. Apparently the Rangers got a single A catcher with a 900+ OPS for him. His name is Max Ramirez. Man, if we're not going to give Soto a chance we might as well have traded him for Lofton.
  13. I just came here to post it, figured I'd have been the first. Either way, damn it. Lofton would have been an enormous asset to this team.
  14. Sounds to good to be true. We're reading way too much into it, though. Marquis is not going to lose his spot in the rotation unless he's just epic-bad. Imagine if we had Lilly and Meche.
  15. Meh. I wouldn't take that quote too seriously. I'm guessing it's just a tactic to try and lower trade demands. Hendry will make at least 1 more trade before the deadline. It might not be a big trade, but he's going to add someone. Agreed, Hendry never shows his cards. I can't remember the last time he made a trade that I saw coming, other than the ill-fated Juan Pierre trade. The ones that I can think of, off the top of my head: Kendall, Nomar, A-Ram... all kind of just came out of nowhere. Unless the Trib disconnects his phone for money reasons, I think he's going to swing a trade for someone. Personally, I'd like to see him add another right-handed starter, and push Marshall into the 'pen so we at least have one reliable lefty in there... I don't want to stunt Marshall's development for the sake of adding a good lefty to the pen. If they want that, they should call up Piggy. Otherwise, Marshall hasn't given any reason he shouldn't pitch every 5th day. It's a right hander named Jason that's given us a reason to doubt him.
  16. If he returns to 2006 form, Floyd should be relegated to bench duties permenantly.
  17. Color me worried about this series.
  18. Don't tell me we're on the cover.
  19. I've got a bad feeling no one's going to watch my link because they're worried it's whatever AS is posting.
  20. On a completely off topic note, I suggest everyone watch this. It'll cheer you up about the loss. http://emuse.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch/275
  21. I doubt anyone complained about Nomar.
  22. He's full of (crap). That's a lie. They both got hurt at the same time? Yeah right. That I-Cubs manager is a dirty liar. He killed Kennedy and is responsible for 9/11 and the AIDS virus.
  23. How do they split the Cubs players among the teams? Chain saw?
