  1. If Soriano didn't have such an awful approach at the plate he could probably be one of the best hitters in baseball.
  2. Thanks for the bail out, Cards. Nice easy inning.
  3. Anyone else's Comcast Sports Net messing up badly?
  4. And what do ya know, Z's gonna need 60 pitches to get through one inning.
  5. Hm. Smells like a rare Kip Wells quality start.
  6. Wells has a career 3.06 ERA against the Cubs. Gulp.
  7. ?? All they do is link to other online articles and ESPN Insider stuff... Like 3 years ago I remember they made up a bogus rumor but since then it's been like any other Prosportsdaily type of site. I completely made something up and reported it to mlbtraderumors as if it were a done deal. It was posted ten minutes later.
  8. Anyone got a video of Barrett's blowup?
  9. Just... please be true. Please.
  10. I'd have no problem with a deal centered around Pie and Marshall/Hill.
  11. although the cubs offense statistically was better before Lofton got here in 03 Probably because Corey Patterson got off to such a hot start. Lofton was a significant upgrade over Goodwin.
  12. Sorry, was signed and they planned him to play RF. Then it was center then they decided to move him to left and throw the whole outfield into a major problem defensively. I'm only 20, my memory can't be that bad. I recall him being signed to play left, then center, then left again.
  13. Darn, if only we had a 25-year-old in the minors who has a full season experience in the majors. Who can play an acceptable right field! Because we certainly don't have that. We have a left fielder who has a cannon for an arm yet doesn't move to right even though he was signed to play right. Did I miss this? I don't remember Soriano ever being signed to play right field. I remember it being a possibility, but signed for it? I certainly don't recall.
  14. He will. And why in the world are you so certain? You probably assume Murton's numbers guarantee him success, yet Ronny's mean nothing? Laughable.
  15. Darn, if only we had a 25-year-old in the minors who has a full season experience in the majors. Who can play an acceptable right field! Because we certainly don't have that.
  16. Man, a poster in this thread is unintentionally hilarious. I can't wait till he says he was "just joking" like the last time he got laughed out of the building.
  17. No huge splash. I see Kenny Lofton happening, and another starter wouldn't surprise me. Unfortunately, that would spell the end for Hill or Marshall, not Marquis.
  18. and do what - move a gold glove 1B to OF??? Yep. Seems like a plan to me.
  19. They could've just put the extra game today and made it a 4-game series instead of a double header sometime later in the season. We are owed a game with them? Yes, there is a day-night double header on 9/15 at STL as makeup for the 4/29 Josh Hancock game that was postponed. The first game will be at 12:10 pm on WGN and the second game (originally scheduled for 2:55pm) will start at 7:10pm on CSN. FYI, I'm sure one of the reasons why they didn't schedule the double header for this series is because the Cardinals are already playing a day-night double header with the Brewers on Saturday (7/28). That is a makeup for a game that was postponed on 4/13. Also, isn't there something in the CBA that says teams can't play more than 20 days in a row. If so, that's why they couldn't reschedule the game for today. If there is such a clause, I'd really like to know why we played something like 26 games in 24 days at the end of 2004 due to Hurricane Frances wiping out a Marlins series. BTW, normally I'd assume a loss, but the Cubs have always smashed Kip Wells to my recollection. Who hasn't?
  20. So if I'm reading this correctly, the new owner would be in place by October, giving us a wallet for the offseason. Right?
  21. I'm pretty much in agreement with all of this. I wouldn't mind Floyd being moved to Ward's role. Unlike Dunn, Cliffy's bad defense isn't made up for by his bat.
  22. Sure, except this Ryan Church bats lefty, can catch a flyball and score from third on a ball hit to shortstop. The only valid argument in that post is that he is a left handed bat. The real valid argument is that he can play center field every single day.
  23. Whether he hit 1st or 2nd, Lofton would be a huge asset. The Rangers were interested in Jones, right?
  24. Edgar would guarantee us a division title. Too bad there's no chance of it happening. To think, if we hadn't resigned Nomar after 04 we probably could've made a strong push for Edgar.
