  1. Is he even relevant at this point? I mean, I guess if he just goes off . . . the other candidates seem to have all gone backwards.
  2. You hate to see a player bring his struggles at the plate into the field with him if I saw someone named ding dong johnson in the stands, I would try to hit him too. One time at spring training we were making fun of Ron Coomer and he hit a home run right into my lap.
  3. Tactically Ronaldo would probably help Dortmund - not sure he is a good fit to the great hype machine though. Seeing articles about Ten Hag under pressure - this is really where clubs can't escape the cycles of failure. You have to commit to a manager and not expect them to instantly turn a team around. Pep, Klopp, Arteta - all given the chance to build something. If you're seriously having these conversations after two games, you will never improve. I get this is more media than the club but come on.
  4. I think if you're choosing between Man U and Newcastle, it's effectively a choice between a club fighting to avoid relegation...and Newcastle. ManU isn't going to get relegated. Go back one year and look at Arsenal. Maybe there's a different answer this fall before WC and long term, but I think ManU is an intriguing option long term. They clear the dead wood and there will be options for good players. If we (he?) don't think CP can be a good premier league player, then he should go elsewhere. Finding a coach that knows how to use him seems like the best option to me. Same with Dest - the writings on the wall - get out and go somewhere you will play.
  5. What are thoughts on ManU? They are being treated like poison but I wonder if it's actually not a bad opportunity to establish oneself. I think Ten Hag is probably a very good coach and they will clean things up there. They should have dumped CR7 (perhaps no one will take him) and some of the other prima donnas but seems like a better spot than sitting on the bench at Chelsea or Barcelona.
  6. Did he lose out at Dortmund? I thought they did the thing they've done with other players before which was basically drop him once it became clear he wasn't staying at Dortmund beyond the year. Lampard is incompetent so I'm not particularly worried about that either. I do get the concern, though I think that's kinda part of the game now for attackers of a certain vintage. You get too good to go to anywhere but Champions League clubs, but most of them are trying to find playing time for 7 good attackers and you have to go supernova to be an every game player in a lot of cases. he did spend a lot of time as a "super sub" at dortmund but i believe most of that was under tuchel so ... yea, I don't remember that history that well. Just seems like he has never been able to lock himself into playing time under multiple coaches.
  7. Tuchel lost his mind at the end of that. I get it. He’s upset his team lost the least and he’s really upset at how it happened with the bad calls. But to flip out over Conte not looking him in the eyes is ridiculous. I get why the ref red carded both coaches after the game but that was all on Tuchel. Chelsea should have won that game. After the first 10 minutes they thoroughly outplayed Spurs. Neither Spurs goal should have happened. I thought Chelsea played well. They had some good chances and easily could have scored more than they did. from all that possession in the final third, they managed 1.84 xG - which they actually out-produced. they needed to put that game away.
  8. the thing that gives me pause is that he lost out at dortmund too and under the other manager at Chelsea. For sure getting anywhere but Chelsea would be good.
  9. Conte and Tuchel with the fake fight - it's like a boxing weigh-in. Tuchel can blame Taylor all he wants but it's the lack of attacking ideas that killed Chelsea.
  10. Hell yeah Valencia is a mess. Not so sure having too players there is great
  11. I think they assumed that since Peter Crouch retired it wasn't necessary anymore. More seriously, it looks like Eurosport has a handful of options that go up to 15 if that helps: https://www.soccer.com/shop/products/footwear/mens-cleats-shoes?order=0&page=1&filter=price__11-250&filter=footwear_men__15 Thanks, I'll take a look at that. I found a pair yesterday that I think will work but we'll see when they arrive. I tried on the same shoe in a different color so I assume it will be okay but you never know until you actually put them on. Normally I can get by with a size 13 for regular shoes but the soccer cleats I tried on tended to be a bit tighter. A couple I tried I barely even laced them up and I could tell they wouldn't work. My wife is going to Minnesota in a few weeks so I might try to find the Copas in a store there for her to pick up for me since I know a slightly larger size will work just fine in those. They're supposed to be tight! Where do you play on grass?
  12. the Cubs will be ready to brawl, that's for sure. To be fair, Castro has been dead for several years.
  13. but we can try!
  14. Is that 19 signed? Yep - Blatter was the only unsigned player Nice! Good planning I guess.
  15. Is this tongue-in-cheek?
  16. We are locking Wes in at slot one. We have seen more than enough from this excellent young man. https://twitter.com/usmntonly/status/1553384039561793537?s=21&t=pCRwbJPh90WzehowSrBswA now look what you did! :nono:
  17. Someone should show them what a bicycle actually is . . .
  18. because sentimentality is all we have. If the cubs are winning, we care a lot less about sentimentality.
  19. Musah seems the best bet to actually play.
  20. I think Lewandowski is a good signing. I don't get Raphinha - they seem to sign people just to sign people some times though I guess it's hard to trust Fati to be healthy. They’re both perfectly fine signings, but to give away future broadcast rights fee revenues to get them is absurd. You’re giving away money you will absolutely need in the future, all to finish second or third? They need to rebuild or they’ll find themselves in serious serious trouble that will end in them losing the community ownership and governance when they’re forced to sell to Disney or some horsefeathers. They’re doing what are essentially payday loans to delay the inevitable rather than just rebuilding for a few years. yea, I'm not sure rebuilding is an option at Barcelona. You may well be right but they may see no alternative. I think it's kind of like buying a house assuming it's value will go up. They're not planning to finish second or third though . . . RM is not unassailable.

  22. there's no tension
  23. basketball is just a boring game until the last 5 minutes. I would argue the higher scoring games are actually more boring than when it was lower scoring.
  24. that would definitely not help sell more now would it?
