  1. But wait....I read a scouting report that he was good on defense!
  2. I've seen the arguments for him spelled out...can you do the same from the other side? 703 career OPS. Cause that .756 career OPS for a terrible defensive catcher is astounding Bowen is also terrible defensive catcher. Really, you're sticking to that huh? Just because he hasn't thrown out baserunners while catching a staff that's notorious for their inability to hold runners? You make generalizations and rush to judgment on things which you aren't very familiar with more than anyone I've seen on this board. Keep ignoring those scouting reports talking about his defensive ability though. Maddux is the only one on that staff that can't hold runners. To throw their pitching staff out as an excuse for his peformance behind the plate is a copout. And as I stated earlier, the San Diego broadcast team and color analysts couldn't wait for this guy to get out of town. And they follow the team on a daily basis. You would be wrong on the first count. I'm also guessing that you're exaggerating on the second paragraph. You can guess all you want, but that was the synopsis of their feelings on the trade. If anyone else was listenting they will say the same thing.

  4. Oh, jesus. I should just leave this thread before I end up spending half my day here. Yeah...me too.

  6. LOL what a surprise. As I said earlier, he appears to have a little upside offensively. He had a big '03 in AA and AAA at 22, struggled while repeating AA in '04, in '05 he was at least adequate in AAA and he's had some solid moments in the big leagues. I think he could give us close to the same offense as Barrett has thus far, while giving us better defense. Better defense? They just had the color analysts from San Diego on the Score and they were delighted this guy was finally gone because he couldn't throw out a runner to save his soul. Ironically, they seem to think Barrett can though, but at least he brings a bat to the table.

  8. FWIW I think Bowen is overrated here...He is complete and utter crap.
  9. The details are pretty much out man. What exactly is the point of your post? besides knock this board? Exactly. There might be an extra gargage prospect here, or some extra cash there...but the bottom line is the Cubs got their ass kicked on this trade.
  10. At least wait until something official says what the trade actually is before unleashing your venom. This is basically the trade....Barrett and Bowen the main swap. No Linebrink.
  11. So we dumped a good offensive catcher who is below average on defense, for a catcher that sucks on both offense and defense and some garbage prospect and cash? Yeah, Hendry is the worst GM in the game.
  12. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?n=Kyler%2520Burke&pos=CF&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=501965 OMFG this guy sucks. Screw you Hendry you dumbass.
  13. If we can get rid of Eyre and find a another capable left hander, that is looking like a solid pen, especially with the way Marmol is throwing the ball.
  14. If we get Linebrink out of this, I think it is a good trade..IMO.
  15. I would have just kept Rapada up and DFA'd Scott Eyre, but unlike our GM, I have 1/2 a brain.
  16. Wow, and I thought he had grit.
  17. Your ideas are intriguing and well-reasoned. Do you have a pamphlet? Yes, in fact I do.
  18. I wonder if any punches had actually landed, would have the suspensions been longer? By the way, why do players always go for the big knockout blow in baseball fights? If D. Lee went with a quick few jabs to Youngs nose, he would have had better results. Winding up for the big punch just gives time for others to grab and tackle you.
  19. holy crap is someone seriously floating the idea of getting Kendell? http://www.youthink.com/quiz_images/quiz1262outcome4.gif
