Baker had tremendous help from Hendry, though. But I would never call the 2003 team one of the best Cub teams. They got extremely lucky to win the division....er ..... I mean they got lucky that Houston lost the division. I disagree. Everything was covered with that team: Starting pitching, good defense, strong bench, solid lineup with power AND a leadoff man. Bad breaks doomed them. That team was solid. "Was" the key word. As Wood and Prior fell from grace, Hendry refused to look towards a backup plan. The power in the OF of Sosa and Alou was never replaced The leadoff man(Lofton) was let go but they failed to realize CPatt should not leadoff. They refused to get a leadoff guy at another position. Hendry has been swining and missing for the past 3 years, including keeping an incompentant manager around. All failures need to be blamed on Hendry. Baker makes a bad coaching move, I blame Hendry. Dusty only exists now as the manager because of Hendry
