  1. Then he should be fair about it and fire himself. If the Cubs would have accepting the sosa contract as a operating loss and not tied it into their budget they could have had the $$$ to get Beltran. Beltran was a key signing to offset the power loss of Alou and Sosa. You can blame McFailure and that tool FitzSimmons for that.
  2. who cares if Girardi is a control freak? Seriously. Thats the best thing the Cubs need. Have the middle infielders take ground ball practice till 2am if thats what it takes.
  3. I bash Hendry alot, but who knows. His back is up against the wall..he needs to deliver an ace this offseason. Maybe he can save his job. He needs to: 1) Sign players you think the team needs not the manager(ie Neifi) 2) Consider Wood's career done and Prior's in doubt. I'm not saying get rid of them, just conisder them non-facotrs. If they come back strong. Bonus. 3) There might be something to this OBP thing. 4) No re-tread managers. Get Girardi or Gonzales. 5) He needs to hustle a team again with a trade. ie a Derrek Lee deal I actually wouldn't want to fire Jim after this season. The idiot created a mess, lets see if he can fix it.
  4. Some of this gets old, really fast. Hendry and Baker get enough bashing in threads that deal with their moves and ideas. Bringing this crap into every [expletive] thread really isn't necessary or productive. [/rant] wow...someone needs to calm down.
  5. Lirianio has just become the #1 trade target for Hendry over the next coming years.
  6. I'm not sure what that means, but you only have to look at 2003, when Prior was healthy, the kind of numbers he put up. The 2nd half of 2003 he was just dealing... I also look back to 2003 when he simply crumbled on the mound in game 6 of the NLCS. Prior doesn't have the killer instinct on the mound that Z has.
  7. Problem with Murton is that he is a white cat...so can he take the heat? Plus he clogs the bases alot.
  8. I healthy Prior will never be better Zambrano. Because Z has something Prior doesn't......a set of nuts.
  9. I just had to considering a month agao people chastized me for saying this guy sucked.
  10. Jim, I think its time to look at door #2.
  11. Nomar is no longer a SS. I'd love to have him at 2B, though we do have future hall of famer Freddie Bynum right now.
  12. Rich Hill is the only reason I watch this team anymore...every 5th day.
  13. I disagree. I think that is one of the problems he had at Miami. They kept switching his position. For now let him focus on returns and his defensive back role. i think we should make his role "the guy who gets the ball in his hands, period". You do have a point. Maybe throw in a couple end arounds for him. Let last end-around I remember from the Bears was with Bobby Wade and is blazing 4.6 speed....ugghh.

  15. Devin Hester is the best punt returner in the NFL. And will be for a very long time. Hopefully in a Bears uniform too. I think Hester is my favorite Angelo pick, simply because he usually goes for low-floor type guys. But Hester's speed is amazing and I think some of his issues at Miami can be blamed on the coaching staff. I also think he will evntually be one of our starting corners. I guess a knock on him is intelligence, but the cover-2 scheme for corners is pretty basic in terms of responsibilites.
  16. No doubt Minny did that deal out of sympathy for McF.ail
  17. Devin Hester is the best punt returner in the NFL.
  18. man do the Packer suck. sheesh. and what was with that cheap shot on Tommie Harris? What a pathetic group of sheep humpers. GO BEARS!
  19. Jim Hendry will be working the phone's hard from the local Dunkin Donuts and will sign both Jose Guillen and Ted Lilly to long term deals.
  20. There is probably no statistical data to back up my hunch, but I view Soriano in his walk year as equivalent to Adrian Beltre in his walk year. Beltre was fairly mediocre OBP wise with the bat for most of his career, had the huge year in free agency year, got the huge contract in free agency, and well, you know the rest... basically a bust w.r.t. to the dollar value. Maybe Soriano has had better numbers in his first 5 seasons, but I still can't fathom he'd live up to a 5 year $70M deal. Somebody will pay it, but if I were Hendry, I'd steer clear. Beltre juiced. Soriono's 07 #'s might decline a bit...but nothing Beltre like
  21. That's a nice idea, problem is position player wise, the farms system is garbage. So are we just gonna put up with the crap on the field now till we rebuilt the farm system?
  22. Don't be ridiculous. Miller will be excellent in his appearances the remainder of this year and Buffet Boy will sign him to a three-year, $24 million deal. "We're tickled to have Wade in the fold. He's a warrior who has worked hard to get himself back in pitching shape. His record speaks for itself. Plus, he brought me a big block of cheese." Miller will then proceed to make us long for the days of Shawn Estes. I want to laugh...but I can seriously see that happening.
  23. I heard the Braves are gonna have a softball scrimmage before the game to prepare for Miller's velocity.
  24. Jehrico I'm sorry if I came off as a jag. I apologize. It has been a terrible season and I'm just frusrtated.
