  1. Everybody who is getting EI, I would be informing their cable companies or Dish-the more likely subscribers they are going to get, the more likely it is that they will carry EI this season.
  2. Illinois hangs on, setting up IU-Illinois round 3 tomorrow night.
  3. 2 point lead now for Illinois-1:35 left, Illinois ball.
  4. Hmm-well, that does make things a little easier for Wuertz. Now the only hurdle that Cotts has over him is that he can spot start, which nobody else in the bullpen will be able to do and Lou seems to like possibly having that option in case a starter gets hurt for a short period of time.
  5. I don't know if there is room. Lou likes him. I don't think there's going to be room for Wuertz. That would be a catastrophic mistake. Agreed. I can see it happening but I would not like it. I don't see it as a huge deal-even if it happens, if one of the relievers starts struggling Lou will ask for Wuertz very, very quickly-he's not going to languish in the minors while people in the majors struggle for long periods this year. I just think he's definitely proved himself the past couple years. Oh, I do too-he's good enough to be on the major league ballclub, that's for sure. I just don't think it's going to be a very big difference to the Cubs ballclub if somebody like Cherry makes the team and then Wuertz gets recalled for him if he starts struggling.
  6. I don't know if there is room. Lou likes him. I don't think there's going to be room for Wuertz. That would be a catastrophic mistake. Really? I don't have any emotional attachment to anyone in the pen (except Kerry). I just want people who will get outs... I know Wuertz has been good but he'll have to prove himself with a new manager; he's not the type of player with a guaranteed spot. Speaking of which, I read yesterday that Ohman's spot may be up for grabs. Can you justify how someone like Cotts has a guaranteed spot, but Wuertz doesn't? Not me. If it were me, Cotts would go to AAA. He hasn't proven a thing in ST. Except that he is still no good. Does Cotts have an option left?

  8. This must be from before I joined the board, but who is Ronnie Woo Woo?   Are you serious? Ronny "Woo Woo" Wickers is an old guy who has been making a nuisance of himself, for years, at Cubs game. He woooooooos throughout the game. Yeah, I didn't know who he was until a few months ago either-I had heard his name a few times, but had no idea who he was at all.
  9. You can't look at RA or ERA. Miller gave up 8 baserunners in 3 innings. I don't care if he only gave up a run. His performance was "Prioresque." I wouldn't call it "Prioresque" but I did say earlier that Miller had a subpar performance helped out by a great defense. My point about Wood also was that he might have a much higher ERA than what he truly deserves from how well he pitched, and that to remember this game of why his ERA was artificially higher than it should be. ERA needs a decent sample size. That's why you have pitchers, even starters, have the same peripheral stats in consecutive years with more than a point difference in ERA. Only in the last few years have the rigors of Statistics 101 been applied to baseball stats. There is a lot of noise. That's exactly what I meant in the first place.
  10. Is the Pac-10 tourney only being shown on FSN West? I know CBS is showing the title game. Personally, I'd rather see the Pac-10 tourney than the Big East tourney. I've been seeing the Pac 10 tourney on my FSN channel, and I'm in the Southeast right now.

  12. How many times do you see this on a play by play? I have never seen them use a nickname in an official thing like a play by play before.
  13. Thank you very much. Yes, I'm very grateful sweetpeteman for the sacrifice in doing that.
  14. How many runs Wood gave up is actually the subject of a great debate-there have been at least 3 different answers argued for, and now it's still stuck at 2 different answers :D
  15. hopefully not for me-I wish no one would get hurt. I know it happens, but it's never good when it does.
  16. If they don't end up changing those statistics from the box score, remember this game when looking at Wood's ERA this spring-with the amount of innings that he is likely to throw, those 4 runs are going to be a huge difference to his overall numbers for the spring.
  17. Miami beats Maryland-losing to a team like Miami in a conference tourney could really hurt Maryland's seed-they'll still be a good seed, but I wouldn't be shocked to see them lose 2-3 lines with this loss.
  18. The "official scoring" in ST is done by the home teams Director of Media Relations. So take all those box scores w/ a grain of salt. True, but the home team is San Diego, and the box score has the Padres with 2 errors-so there isn't any basis really for a bias to not give him an error-it at least says that it wasn't an easy play. The announce team agreed that it was a play that should have been made. Thanks for the info.
  19. There was a HBP and a K/advanced on a WP to go along with the one clear hit and the hit/error (radio people said error, box score says a 2nd hit).

  21. If Pie split time with Jones, who would start against lefties? Pie is about as bad against lefties as Jones is. Pie's OPS was exactly 200 points higher against righties in Iowa last year. I'd rather have just about anybody than Pagan, though. Ok, Pie starts in Center, with Soriano at 2nd and Izturis tentatively at starting SS. That's how I'd play it. Soriano doesn't want to play 2nd anymore-he said he's an OF now.
  22. BTW, MLB's box score has no error on Izturis.
  23. That's what I was thinking-he seemed to have pretty good stuff (if wild) and that's really the only huge thing to take out of a spring game pitching wise.
  24. Well, not a great or even good outing by Miller, but he got out of a couple jams and his defense really picked him up today, so no real harm done.
  25. How is he unhappy in Denver already???? he isn't, just stupid rampant uninformed speculation by the media and irresponsible journalism. http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_5375358 That quote makes me more sure that he is unhappy in Denver, not less-that was not exactly a glowing statement saying that he wanted to be there.
