  1. That's not their only pretty good win non-conference. They also have wins over tournament teams Air Force, Indiana, Georgetown, and Holy Cross in addition to their ACC wins-that will get them into the tournament.
  2. Soto adds a sacrifice fly-it's 8-7 Texas, middle of the 8th inning.
  3. Colvin just hit a HR against Texas-it's 8-6 Texas, still top of 8th.
  4. In the Texas game, end of 7, still 8-5 Texas. Rapada gave up a couple of runners, but managed to get out without a run. Texas has also turned 4 double plays today.
  5. O'Malley pitches a second good inning-end of 6, 8-5 Texas.
  6. I don't understand how KSU and Purdue have sealed the deal. I mean, if they weren't in before, why does winning a game against a bubble team(Iowa wasn't really even a bubble team either) put you in? I see it if KSU beat aTm, or if Purdue knocked off Wisconsin, but I think this is a case of overemphasizing the conference tourneys. It's more about avoiding a loss-now both Purdue and KSU can only lose to really good teams, which will put them in better situations than some of the bubble teams who lost to worse teams. When splitting hairs between bubble teams that are so close, their last action is always the most important. Remember, the committee has said they want the best teams, not necessarily the most deserving-so playing well going into the tournament has a huge weight attached to it.
  7. Still 8-5 Texas, now after 5 and a half innings.
  8. It's still 8-5 Texas after 5 innings-O'Malley with a perfect inning for the Cubs with 1 K.
  9. Howard gives up 4 runs-it's 8-5 Texas. MLB said Cory Bailey got the last out for the Cubs in the 4th-I had no idea he was even in camp.
  10. bad news for some other bubble teams-Purdue probably has punched their ticket, and Kansas State probably has as well. In other games, Boston College avoids the upset and beats Miami by 3 in OT.
  11. Pie having a tough day-he's 0 for 3, and when he got on because of a fielder's choice, he gets picked off. It's 5-4 Cubs, middle of 4-Texas game.
  12. Howard set them down 1-2-3 (including Sosa). 5-4 Cubs over Texas at the end of 3.
  13. Did Cotts make it two whole innnings? I am hoping that Lou doesn't have his heart set on Cotts making the team. He has looked horrible this spring. Yeah, his line was 2 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 0 BB, 1 K I bet he makes the team, but only because the team needs a long reliever-it's probably better to stick Cotts there than waste Guzman in that spot.
  14. Cedeno with the only hit of the top of the third for the Cubs against Texas-Ben Howard is in to pitch in the bottom of the 3rd. Still 5-4 Cubs.
  15. Who was the guy who walked? I assume it must have been a pinch-hitter.
  16. Sosa started a rally with a single, Kinsler had a bases loaded double that scored all 3 runs, and Young drove Kinsler in. It's 5-4 Cubs over Texas at the end of 2.
  17. Playing without 3 starters who all fouled out, Mississippi State still upsets Kentucky in OT.
  18. LOL-it did update right after I posted. Yup-Hill with a 3 run HR, and Theriot has added another hit and Murton a walk before Kinkade ended the 2nd-they are absolutely killing McCarthy.
  19. In the Texas game, Colvin and Cedeno start off with hits, and Cedeno then steals 2nd-2nd and 3rd, nobody out, Dopirak up.
  20. A strange free throw violation gave the ball back to Mississippi State with 10 seconds left, and a 3 at the buzzer then means that Kentucky and Mississippi State are going to OT.
  21. Cotts gives up 2 hits in the first, but Teixeira grounds into a double play to end the first with Texas scoring no runs.
  22. DeRosa grounded into a DP to end the top half of the first in the game against Texas.
  23. In the Texas game, the Cubs are already up 2-0. Pie got out, Theriot got hit, and then Murton hit a 2 run HR. Kinkade has since followed with another hit, and the Cubs are still batting up 2-0 in the top of the first.
  24. Here's the link to the box score for the game that is not being broadcast anywhere: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/boxscore.jsp?gid=2007_03_09_chnmlb_texmlb_1 Sosa right now is listed in RF-wonder if he convinced his manager to play? Cubs lineup is Pie,Theriot, Murton, Kinkade, DeRosa, Colvin, Cedeno, Dopirak, and Hill (the catcher, not the P).
