  1. I'd imagine so. Guess I need to get busy then-I need about 10 posts to be in 65th overall, which would put me in to get drilled by somebody :D
  2. Well, at some point you are going to run into one of the top seeds-would you have rather run into Fred instead?
  3. Did you vote "yes" or "no" in the IMB! poll? If you voted "no", well I think you should know who to blame. Grr-double post. First time I've done that in a while.
  4. Did you vote "yes" or "no" in the IMB! poll? If you voted "no", well I think you should know who to blame. That's a rather bold statement to say to Modzilla :D
  5. So is ZZ getting thrown out or what?
  6. Agreed-that's a great story, and I'm very excited to see him get in a game. He seems like a great guy, and his father was really nice in doing that, even if did end up jumping the gun a bit :D
  7. Count your blessings. Despite the weak 2 seed, the East is loaded. You don't have to degrade yourself like that-although your pod is not easy.
  8. Remember-only the top seeds are protected geographically in this or in the NCAA. Everybody else just ends up going where they fit in.
  9. The notion that MLB would instruct (more like ask, pretty please) the Cubs to adhere strictly to the slot system is totally understandable. The notion that MLB's directive or whatever would have anything to do with the Cubs' ownership situation is totally silly (especially the part about no big league deal). That's what I found confusing-those two things shouldn't go together.
  10. it makes me laugh how teams will balk spending a few million extra dollars in the draft, but then throw obscenely overpriced contracts at mediocre free agents. A lot of that is PR-signing free agents, even mediocre ones, can sell tickets.
  11. And several other clubs if most of the mock drafts are to be believed.
  12. jones, eyre and izturis for granderson I'd make them throw in Neifi. It would definitely crash this board for a full week, that's for sure.
  13. Are we going to do this by region? It'd work out perfect for the top seeds - I'd be out West, Jon can take the Midwest, Vance gets the South and goony can take the East. That would be a good way to do it. I'll be in the field to get drilled by one of those 1 seeds rather soon, especially if ZZ gets taken out of the tourney. I would suggest one modification to the tourney-have a series of play-in games for the last 5-6 people, and then select a few wildcards to go against them who may not have enough posts to qualify but have made a big impact on the board. Maybe I'm just trying to complicate it unnecessarily though.
  14. Really? If the Cubs are well into terrible territory at the deadline, I was thinking Hendry would become a total lame duck. How can he prove he should remain with the club under new ownership other than making the playoffs? I would think any new owner would look at our payroll, and if it's not a playoff team Hendry is gone moments after the ink dries. Maybe I'm dead wrong. A lot of it depends on who the new owner is and when they come in. The later in the offseason they take control of the team (before free agency or after free agency makes a huge difference), and the less experienced they are in baseball (because they'll have less vision on who to hire immediately as a GM), the more likely it becomes that Hendry stays the GM through the end of his contract at the end of 08.
  15. Hopefully Cedeno told him to hold on to it. It takes a mighty long time to have one shipped to Chicago if he needs it later. Now that was funny-good work there. Patterson should be able to play 2B the next few days with an infielder being called up from Iowa with the injury to Ramirez.
  16. So it's MLB that is telling the Cubs what they can do? That's an interesting development.
  17. Nice to hear about Samardzija. I wonder 2 things about his outing: 1) I wonder how much his velocity increased with the move to the pen and 2) I wonder if they're continuing to make him throw all his pitches with the same percentage or if they are allowing him to throw more fastballs in relief.
  18. I also need a text message... I'm on the road in Atlanta and probably won't have access to the internet all day. Who wants to be a pal? Just remember for whoever agrees to send Truffle this text message that you are very likely to get a very angry text message back decrying the high school player that was taken :D
  19. Yes, because Hendry has such a poor track record with trading players There's a difference between trading for a player(Lee, Ramirez, Barrett, Pierre(whoops!), Nomar) and trading away a player(Sosa, Patterson, Maddux). Hendry is awful at the latter, and that's what he'd be doing with Z. Sosa, Patterson, Maddux are terrible examples. None had anywhere near the value that Zambrano has. Both the pro- and anti-Hendry camps should realize that there is no comp for Zambrano on Hendry's trade resume. So using history to speculate about how well he'd do is pretty futile and silly. I agree, but I doubt Hendry trades Z anyway. He's not likely to give up on the season unless the Cubs are 12 games out or more around the deadline, and I don't think they'll be that far out.
  20. I agree. "goony" should take ZZ Thorn's place Goony is already in-his old account is still 4th in posts.
  21. Culpepper's career certainly spiraled quickly. Nobody wants him, he doesn't want to be traded, and this is not going to be a good situation. I wonder if they could do better than a 7th rounder if they do trade him? Can't think of anybody desperate for a QB right now off the top of my head. If Miami wants to get rid of him, I think they'll have to cut him.
  22. If Price does not go #1 to tampa (for signing resons), And your the Royals who have been said not being able to aford Porcello, and the Cubs are on the clock what do you do??? They have already said they do not want to exceed slot money, and with the Whold Trib. situation I think their hands are tied. D-Rays pick Vitters first Royals pick Parker Cubs pick well......... Not vitters, Parker, Wieters (cant "afford" him), Not Price (if not wieters),......... hummm.............. If that was the case (which I see is extremely unlikely) my guess is that the Cubs would try to strike a deal with the Tribune in order to make an exception, possibly in return a promise to cut salary elsewhere.
  23. Culpepper's career certainly spiraled quickly. Nobody wants him, he doesn't want to be traded, and this is not going to be a good situation.
  24. Oops-that's probably not the only thing I missed. I'm going to have to pick March-there's simply too much good basketball between the conference tournaments and March Madness. October, February, and January are probably my next 3.
  25. Here is your chance-tell which month it is and why you are drawn to it.
