  1. With Albert on first taking a 60 foot lead, why no throw over by Howery?
  2. I resemble that remark. :? Yeah, but what's his excuse? You had a beautiful woman serving you drinks...totally justified! He can't mute Jon Miller?
  3. What are they when facing an opponent with a dumber manager than Dusty?
  4. You know, it may just be the drinks, but Weaver is starting to look a lot like me.
  5. That should be the headline in tomorrow's fishwrap.
  6. Bless her heart, the mother of my children sat with me, watched the last 4/5 batters and quietly got up and fixed me a pitcher of drinks (doubles). I wish I could give the cobs pitcher a glass or two---that was not his fault.
  7. How can Cedeno be that bad? My gosh it must be awful to be a cobs pitcher. ...and our league leading catcher just allows a passed ball...
  8. A bunt? I'd go for a topped roller 1B. :) Did Belliard forget to wear his girdle tonight? Wow, he's a fatty.
  9. It's a dirty, thankless job..... but somebody's gotta do it, eh? For medicinal purposes only.
  10. I don't care what angles Sutcliffe plays during the night. He's still better than Joe Morgan. Plus, he might start drinking. Amen and just in case Rick doesn't, I've started drinking for him.
  11. Yeah, race card being played now, this is officially an ESPN broadcast.
  12. I missed this, but what? Jacque charged a 47-hopper to RF and missed it. The ball rolled to the wall and Rolen circled the bases. Rolen was credited with a 1B and RBI as he knocked in the runner on 2B. A three base error on Jacque. I didn't think the pitcher did badly, just no support--typical cobs game.
  13. CFan, noticed your picture of Rajah. Can you believe he didn't make the list of five Cardinals to be voted on as greatest ever? He was the best hitter in the history of the game.
  14. That Cardinal CF would be a great defensive acquisition for the Cubs. Second batter of the game is awfully early to be taking a nap.
  15. I have 2 coins that add up to $0.55 and one of them is not a nickel. What are they ?? Fred, the coin that is not a nickel is a fifty cent piece. Another all day afair with lawyers today, I ate breakfast and will skip lunch to prepare for the big steak. The hotel here provides free limo service to The Big Texan if you're going to try for the 72 oz.----I need to make sure they'll bring me back if (and probably when) I don't make it, although the walk would do me good! :)
  16. Fred, Fred whereever you are, I made it to Amarillo and finally finished working today. I may go for the 72 oz steak tomorrow, but there are a lot of strings attached to the offer (must eat a salad, potato and bread too). You pay your $50 up front then get it back if you win (along with your picture on the wall). As to Harry Callis, I spent many of my "yuteful" night fallins asleep to him and Gene Elston broadcasting Astros games, both Hall of Famers. Funny, but I liked the third man, Loel "now he's chunkin' in there", "he breezed him one more time" Passe the best.
  17. You might be surprised to find out that I only actually type about 10% of what you see in my posts in these game threads. Well, your secretary does a helluva job on the other 90%.
  18. Yeah, I heard about that 72 oz steak place in Amarillo. After spending a day (first of three) with lawyers, I might just go there, although I'm sure the lawyers will want to go drinking and charge me for it. Be careful Fred. I'll be wearing my Cubs cap, so keep a lookout.
  19. Hey Fred, I'm spending the next three days in Amarillo, Texas, wherever that is. do you have any suggestions/tips (even heard of the place?). By the way, Pujols has a 3 run HR and a grand slam tonight, Pujols 7, Mets 6 after 6 innings. I'll be in Amarillo tomorrow morning !! Trucking down I-40? I'll be flying in about 9:20 and downtown the rest of the day.
  20. Hey Fred, I'm spending the next three days in Amarillo, Texas, wherever that is. do you have any suggestions/tips (even heard of the place?). By the way, Pujols has a 3 run HR and a grand slam tonight, Pujols 7, Mets 6 after 6 innings.
  21. In NL Central action, Cincy erases a 3 run Astro lead scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the 8th to win 4-3 and gain a half game on the Deadbirds.
  22. Watching the game on mlb.tv--the fight started with the manager pushing the player in the tunnel to the clubhouse, players and coaches needed to break them up. Update, story nw up on ESPN website.
