  1. 31,494--the smallest crowd of the year and a lot of this number is no shows.
  2. You gotta love a pinch-hitter who'll take a called third strike to keep from cloggin' up the bases. Nice AB Fagin.
  3. Nice camera shot of the homeless stretched out sleeping on the bleachers.
  4. You know, the Pirates are really a terrible team.
  5. Lots of fans disguised as empty seats in the left field bleachers. They had to find someone to throw that Bay HR ball back.
  6. KC falls to a 1-0 lead in Fecal play tonight. However, they are closing in on setting a major league record for most losses after having a four run lead.
  7. CUBS are on a pace to ground into 136 double plays this year..... compared to 129 last year Go CUBS !! Thanks! :)
  8. Guess who just hit a HR for the Nationals? Yep that pitcher, Ortiz.
  9. Ortiz with a 4 pitch 8th inning (88 pitches on the day). Deadbird hitters haven't done something now through 8 innings.
  10. Fred, how do the cubs compare this year to last in GIDP?
  11. Washington's Ortiz has not pitched past 7 innings, however he will today since there is something the Deadbird hitters have yet to do in 7 innings.
  12. FYI-the Deadbird hitters have failed to do something after six innings.
  13. I just cannot take it anymore. Fred and the rest, have a great Labor Day holiday and be careful!
  14. Phillies score two in bottom of the ninth to beat the Braves in game one.
  15. The 64-70 Braves just hung 4 on Philly in the top of the 9th to take a 7-6 lead after trailing 6-1. Braves start the day 4.5 out of the wild card. If the cubs had done anything at all this year they'd be in the middle of the wild card race. In bottom of the 7th, Pujols flys out on the warning track.
  16. In game one of a doubleheader, the Phillies Ryan Howard has hit HR #50,51 and 52 through 6 innings. In St Louis, Pujols has hit HR#40 and 41 through three innings.
  17. That's profound. Fred, you've touched on the brilliance of Dusty---just another reason not to clog the bases.
  18. Alfonso made no attempt to get out of the way and should not have been awarded first. Fred, do you remember back in the day when Drysdale was going for the consecutive scoreless inning record he had the bases loaded, hit a batter, the ump called it a ball because the batter made no attempt to move, then Drysdale got him out to end the inning and keep the streak alive? By the way, if the batter is in the strike zone when hit, the ump is supposed to call a strike.
  19. Fred, I think the fielding really shows up in your pitching stats too. 2005 43 unearned runs 2006 to date 59 unearned runs
  20. Hello Fred. I really enjoy some of your worthless stats, others, well, I see why you call them worthless. You have several batting "on a pace to" stats and I'm wondering if you have any pitching and/or fielding "on a pace to" stats. I think that is where the real difference will show up, because the batting stats don't look that much different.
