It looks like he got his foot in before the tag but it also looks like one of those calls where the ump might call him out just because its a close play and the ball beat him there.
I haven't read much of this thread yet but you cannot blame the Cubs season on Murton and Cedeno. This is their first full season and it takes time to get adjusted to the majors. I don't see really anyone other than Jacque Jones having a good May so we shouldn't be singling out the 2 youngest guys in our everyday lineup.
We need to have some patience with guys like cedeno and murton...you dont just get accustomed to the majors by snapping ur fingers. These guys need to be playing everyday so that they can learn to develop and learn from their mistakes. Especially with the team doing this bad anyways theres no point in benching the young guys.
At least some of these ways they are finding to lose are providing some entertainment...like Neifi being able to make 2 errors on the same play and letting a guy score from 2nd on a flyout...i thought that was pretty impressive
The Cubs problem wasn't that they hit too many HR's it was that all their homeruns were solo HRs, unfortunately they still haven't found anyone to get on base and right now aren't really even hitting any homeruns. I still don't understand why Dusty insists on batting Neifi and Hairston 2nd when they never get on base instead of Cedeno or Murton. Getting guys on in front of Barrett and Walker and Ramirez will only help get them better pitches. Neifi and Hairston can't get on base at all.
I know I am new to this site but I think we should have more updated articles on the front page about like upcoming series and things like that...one of my buddies who is a Sox fan showed me the website they have http://www.soxtalk.com/frontpage/html/index.php and its really nice actually. I think we shoudl try to get something going and keep it updated like that.
Hendry's biggest mistake was probably wasting money on Rusch and Neifi when it could have been used for much more useful bench players...its funny though cause when the Cubs traded for Pierre I don't remember too many cubs fans sounding disappointed so i don't see how that can be his biggest mistake, at the time most people seemed happy to have him...i also don't see how not getting joe girardi as coach was his biggest mistake, so far I don't see any reason to believe that Joe Girardi would make a really good coach...honestly I want Steve Stone somewhere in the Front Office or as coach
I'll watch at least the beginning of this game cause i wanna see Ryu pitch...it will be interesting to see if hes gonna turn into another bust like most cubs minor league pitchers have seemed to do or if he can have a decent future. Plus the way the Cubs are finding ways to lose has become somewhat entertaining...I was looking forward to a Zambrano no hitter the other day but still losing cause of that first inning.
Dusty isn't a terrible manager but he definitely cannot get this team to play for him. Also the bench Hendry gives Baker is not helping him at all when their is an injury, plus Dusty needs to learn to manage a bullpen.
I don't think this Cubs team is worse, but I think with the high expectations and high payroll that this team is a much bigger disappointment. And hopefully soon Dusty will stop just making excuses and call this team out.
I don't think we will be seeing anyone in the near future joining the 300 list but with the new wave of young pitchers like Liriano, Felix Hernandez, Zambrano, Kazmir we might start seeing some new guys added with them.
Marshall would make a good back end of the rotation guy. He has a few above average pitches, but no great pitches that could make him an ace or #2 starter.
