  1. hes going to get 15-20 HRs minimum and 40-50 doubles. give him a .300 BA (pretty likely) and 70-80 walks (pretty likely) that makes him comparable to JD Drew in 2006..which was a .300 EqA. and Fred Lynn (career .297 EqA). He has not hit once in MLB and you just say all this will happen.. Amazing... Im not saying he's going to hit that. I'm saying it's the most likely line of production from him. There's a difference.

  3. Ok I will remember that....he is God.. because he posts on a Cub message board alot. Gotcha and also LSU > UF Of course, LSU is better than UF. Check out the sig. And no, he's usually right because he has an outstanding understanding of the metrics that determine the value of a baseball player. Ok.. Metrics don't determine how good a baseball player is lol. Just numbers. They are a very good indicator of how well a player will perform and how important to his team he is. Does it determine the pitchers he is facing? The ball park he is in? There are SO many more factorts then that. The more advanced ones attempt to do that, or at least neutralize the effects in comparing players. But all it is is numbers.. Why don't they just figure out a system to figure out what team is the best.. then We won't even have to play the games. Because probabilistic outcomes are just that...probabilistic.

  5. Quit with the personal attacks. You've called me a dumbass about five times. For all your bitching and moaning about be being mean not once have I gone out and personally attacked you. A lot of people know what EqA is. Not many know what EqA means. No you havn't but You talk and the things you say are basically saying that you are better then me. Stop talking down to me like you know me. I talk down to everyone. Just get used to it. I don't make exceptions. Luckily, it's not against the rules. Now answer the question, what is EqA. How is it found? What does it measure? Answer these three correctly and Ill be nice to you.
  6. Not that 1st year though, evev Matsui had to have been in the .270s that 1st year. He'll probably need a year to fully adjust to the states and the pitching. The first year blip isn't that big of a deal. In fact the only guys who had that problem are the Matsuis. No one else did. BTW Matsui was in the .280s. He translated to the low .300s, which he's been at ever since. Matsui's biggest struggle was the two seam fastball. He got burned on it inside a bunch the first year. He was an EXTREME flyball hitter in Japan....who led the league in groundballs his first year here. The other players didnt experience the same problems (although that could be because they're RHs for the most part and most sinker guys are righties). Ichiro is more of a line drive GB guy so it won't affect him. Fukudomes a line drive hitter, so it probably won't be that big of a deal. They dont see the two seam in japan, and luckily the two seam isnt an integral part of a righty's arsenal in our division. (at least not from anyone i can think of off the top of my head, 'cept Bush has a decent one).

  8. vladdy doesnt have much bbs to fall back on and PECOTA thinks his power is a ticking bomb (dunno why). not slugging 500 this year. dunno why. I don't think Fukudome will come close to a .303 EqA, he'll be closer to .280-.285, if I was to bet. Guerrero is going to decline, his defense already has and the bat speed is next. But, he's still going to be 32 in a few days and there's plenty left. I think he'll be around .300 as far as EqA. Fukudome translates to above a .300 EqA, so it's not completely out of the realm of possibility to meet the translations. Hideki Matsui met his. In fact every Japanese hitter that came over has hit their translations as far as EqA is concerned -- except Kazuo Matsui*. *even Matsui technically has
  9. Yeah Im getting destroyed... You're acting like a 8 year old.. and I say something and you say NA UH!! "I got numbers, im right". And Im just saying Ok its your opinion but I disagree with it.. Along with 29 other baseball franchises that would take him in a heart beat. Yeah well someone keeps signing jose macias so im pretty sure the fact that major league teams do it, it does not make them smart. im pretty sure you have no idea how to respond to my post refuting yours. So you went "OH I AM DROPPING IT SO I DONT LOOK BAD" Disclaimer: I am not insulting your intelligence. Ok listen.. I don't want to sound like a smart-A$$ or anything..I could sit here and argue with him all I want... But its pointless.. Im not trying to drop it so I look bad or anything.. You can throw numbers at me all you want.. its not going to change the face that, what he said is stupid and wrong. I don't want to make a bad impression.. and alot of ppl would agree with me that he is a good right fielder. So Im sorry if I upset anyone. You must think that Winston Churchill does not exist. A recent poll in England found that 20% of British Teens think that Churchill did not exist. A lot of people would agree with you on that one...but then again a lot of people can and are wrong all the time. I'm wrong, you're wrong we're all wrong at some point and time. It's perfectly fine for you to admit you are wrong. In fact my biggest beef about this conversation is the fact that you do not even care. You're saying OOH PROJECTIONS SUCKS AND HE'S GOOD when it is quite clear that you have no idea what EqA and the like are. I would be a lot nicer if you said something along the lines of "what's Eqa? Im not very knowledgeable on the subject and would be interested in learning more about why it shows that Francoeur is a trashy outfielder?" Then I could respond in a nice lengthy discussion of the reasoning behind it. Of course you didn't you just acted like a broken answering machine (an answering machine was popular before cellphones. It was basically a machine that recorder messages from a caller when you werent there, much like the service on your cellphone today).
  10. btw have the four letter message boards gone down or something?

  14. 1. Are you kidding me? 2. Basing it on projected numbers is a lot better than basing it on past numbers. Why? Because the projected numbers are more accurate than past numbers, kid. 3. I've watched (and played) the game more than you ever will. Just because I'm can understand numbers it does not mean I can't and don't play/watch the game. 4. I don't care about batting average nor runs batted in (nor HRs for that matter). Since you're being ignorant I'll let you in on the secret. That .270+ predicted EqA is an increase over his EqA in 2007 (.267). So if you don't know what we're talking about, don't make comments please. 5. Read what I said regarding his September. "He burst on the scene for two months, and has hit like crap since that September getting progressively worse." that september which would be September 2005 to now. He's hit .273/.312/.444 since then. That's about as bad is it gets for a starting right fielder. 6. Derek Jeter has a Gold Glove, Ron Santo would have as much range as Jeter at short right now. 1. Your a tool. 2. Don't ever call me kid again.. thanks.. 3. And right... you have played more then I will ever know.. .your right.. im sorry i was wrong..WEE NUG man. 4. Again.. I don't take anything you say seriously so arguing won't do anything.. So im going to be a bigger man and just be quiet... But your a Cub fan so you know everything... Im sorry, You're...three times...

  21. League average EqA = .260 (it's built so this ALWAYS happens). League average OPS+ is 100...so a .271 EqA probably translates to arounda a 104 OPS+.
  22. If you think Jeff Francoeur is one of the worst RF in baseball....remind me to never take anything you say serious again. Let's look at the projected starters in RF across the majors: .305 Magglio Ordonez .303 Kosuke Fukudome .301 Vladimir Guerrero .298 Bobby Abreu .296 Milton Bradley .296 Jeremy Hermida .295 Corey Hart .290 Travis Buck .287 Nick Markakis .287 Matt Kemp .284 Hunter Pence .284 Michael Cuddyer .284 Alex Rios .283 Ryan Church .282 JD Drew .282 Jermaine Dye .282 Brad Hawpe .280 Austin Kearns .277 Brian Giles .277 Rocco Baldelli .276 Ken Griffey .276 Franklin Gutierrez .275 Mark Teahen .272 Xavier Nady .271 Brad Wilkerson .271 Geoff Jenkins .271 Jeff Francoeur .270 Randy Winn .267 Rick Ankiel .267 Justin Upton I like Winn and Upton's defense over his and I thought about listing Rick Ankiel though. And now regarding Eric Byrnes: .307 Ryan Braun .306 Adam Dunn .303 Pat Burrell .302 Manny Ramirez .295 Moises Alou .295 Matt Holliday .289 Jason Bay .289 Carl Crawford .289 Josh Willingham .288 Carlos Lee .286 Alfonso Soriano .285 Raul Ibanez .283 Chris Duncan .283 Johnny Damon .282 Wily Mo Pena .282 Delmon Young .280 Scott Hairston .280 Luke Scott .279 Carlos Quentin .276 David Dellucci .273 Jose Guillen .272 Matt Diaz .269 Marlon Byrd .268 Garret Anderson .267 Eric Byrnes .264 Dave Roberts .260 Emil Brown .253 Reed Johnson .253 Jacque Jones .247 Juan Pierre Below Byrnes are Roberts and Pierre as the only guys with fulltime gigs. Although Roberts will probably be out eventually. Jones, Brown and Johnson are platoon guys. So yeah, Byrnes and Francoeur are near the bottom of their respective positions. Francoeur is a bit of an enigma. He burst on the scene for two months, and has hit like crap since that September getting progressively worse. Still he has quality tools but like many toolsy guys before him he's hackprone
  23. Notes: - P_A and P_R stands for Points over Average and Points over Replacement Level players at their POS, respectively. 12 team 5x5 format - First P_A is based off of PECOTA, second off of James and third off of ZiPS - I estimated PA based on each teams depth chart. If you want to know the PA level for a given player(s) ask. - Rank is done by averaging the three P_A and three P_R columns separately. Then averaging a players rank in the two. - No pitchers yet, obviously but we're (I'm) working on them. - The data used to generate the distributions for a league's teams stats is only based off of one draft, I'll add more soon. 24. Hey I have an idea stop trolling me and if you're going to troll me actually respond to my comments. You know what I'm talking about. I know you have a personal vendetta against me and all, but you don't look great when you make up stuff and then never respond when you get called on it.
  25. Yes, Mark Teahen is the worst RF in baseball. He's one year removed from a .300 EqA and is just 26. He's much better than a lot of slop some teams will throw out there: St Louis and Pittsburgh come to mind immediately - among others. Good job Dayn Perry at being dumb.
