  1. I don't understand how KSU and Purdue have sealed the deal. I mean, if they weren't in before, why does winning a game against a bubble team(Iowa wasn't really even a bubble team either) put you in? I see it if KSU beat aTm, or if Purdue knocked off Wisconsin, but I think this is a case of overemphasizing the conference tourneys. KSU finished 4th in the Big 12, and this confirms that they are a top 4 team. How could they not be in? The Big 12 is deserving of at least 4 teams... The thing I wonder is if this loss keeps Tech from getting in? They have some big wins this year.
  2. I believe..... WE'RE GOIN DANCIN!!!!
  3. Should be a great game. You guys are in barring major upsets in a number of tourneys. The General vs Huggie. I bet the refs are looking forward to calling this game. I'm still not sure we're in unless we win today. I hope you're right, and I think we should be. You're right though, should be a great game today!
  4. At least CU made Texas Tech play today. Hopefully that helps us out tomorrow. Must win tomorrow for KSU, which is silly seeing that we'd be 169/170 if we don't get in (re:the stat I posted a few pages back), but not surprising. Win for the Cats tomorrow and we're in.
  5. Thanks Chuck...
  6. Cats Win 72-61. 4th place in the Big 12, 10 conf. wins and 21 regular season wins. No team from a major conference that has numbers of 10 conf wins, 20+ wins, and 4th place in the conference has ever been left out of the tourney. Up til this year, that's 169/169 teams that have met that criteria. We'll see what happens.
  7. Cats up on OU by 19 at the half. Sure will be nice to get a bye in the first round of the Big 12. Huggy has done it this year with all of Woolys boys, so even if we don't make the tourney (We're soooo on the bubble), the year will have been a success IMO.
  8. we come out on Sr. day and beat OU. That will give us a 4 seed in the Big 12 tourney. If we win one there, we're in, if not, probably NIT bound. All this hinges on winning today however..
  9. I was wondering if I shouldn't have traded Thorman, although to get Wang, I think it was a good deal.
  10. I'm also willing to trade to strengthen my OF.
  11. Haha.. not that these projections really matter, but thanks for calculating it. I thought about it but I was entirely too lazy! :)
  12. I've put Clement and Colon on IR. Neither will begin the year starting.... Clement not until at least July probably later.
  13. You were in the running, but Kent was the 19th best 2B last year, and isn't likely to get better. And as good as Barrett was last year, he was only 12th in C scoring. Granted he was injured, but that's not unusual for a C. Konerko's also on the downside of his career. Konerko's too protected in that lineup (Dye, Crede and Thome) to not have a 35 HR 110 RBI year. Barrett is going to get to hit with more guys on base this year than last, or is going to be on base and score a lot more this year with the lineup. Kent is my biggest question mark, I chose him over Giles, hope that doesn't come back to bite me. As for my OF, Markakis and Burrell are solid. I'm interested in seeing what Kubel can do and if Mags stays healthy again, I'll get 22-25, 100 from him. Dan Johnson was a late steal and could see a lot of U this year for me if Chavez decides to blow again. The worst part of my team by far is RP. I'm totally screwed there.
  14. I disagree with the infield. I don't see how I'm not in the top 5 with Barrett, Konerko, Kent, Hanley, Aramis and Chavez at U. I have top 5-7 guys at almost every position in the infield. I'd have to put myself definitely in the top 5. I didn't think my pitching staff was that strong until I looked at everyone else's. As for OF, I'm nowhere close and agree pretty much with your thoughts. chavez is pretty weak. or was last year anyway. I'm counting on a resurgent year from him.

  16. Well.. numbers wise, I still like him at 2b over many others. 2b is a pretty weak position, so any help from Kent will be appreciated. He'll still be > 90% of what is out there. I do like your IF. AJP is an above average catcher, Konerko is above average at 1B, Kent is good at 2B when on the field, ARam is fairly elite at 3B and Hanley will be above average to very good at SS. I do prefer Victor, Albert, Rickie/Giles, Gordon and Hall/Tulo, though. :D I have Barrett who is > AJP, who isn't on my team (I think Matt has him). I have AJB though. :) My top 3 in the staff aren't bad with Young, Wang, and AJB. We'll see if Colon decides to come back and have a decent year. My OF is average with Burrell, Mags, and Markakis, but not horrible.
  17. I'd like to see discussion of the top 5 of each Team Infields Team Outfields Team SP Team RP Team Minors Abuck does a pretty good job each year, and I'm interested in seeing that again if you have time Adam.
  18. Well.. numbers wise, I still like him at 2b over many others. 2b is a pretty weak position, so any help from Kent will be appreciated. He'll still be > 90% of what is out there.
  19. AJB, Volstead and Rasmus were a few of my other favorite picks. I really think I have one of the more solid infields in the entire league.
  20. Very satisfied that Burrell was there at 10. Very good infield, decent of, and decent, not great, pitching. Hopefully the 7 start rule helps with my pitching.
  21. I just finished doing my minor league analysis, now off to prerank my players. I love my infield so far, but I'm going to have to improve my OF, and will need a big season from Markakis if I'm going to do anything. I have 2 solid SP, and no bullpen, so we'll see where this draft takes us.
  22. One of my best players last season was Sarge Jr who I picked up off waivers. The key is finding good values later and even on the waiver wire. i got harang and putz off waivers. i mean, i'm not tim or raw, but i do all right. I've been around since the league started, and look at my overall record. Even though I haven't won it, I've been in the playoffs every year but one since the inception of the league. We usually hear people's opinions each year. I'd love to hear people's thoughts on my keepers this year.
  23. That's pretty silly to say, though your definition of "that good" needsclarification. regardless... A. the Big XII is only ten years old. B. In that short time, it's posted 5 final four teams. (KU twice, OU, OK State, Texas) C. This year it has two legit FF contenders and one darkhorse. D. Texas and KU look to be consistent FF threats with aTm and KSU on the rise. OU and OSU are always threats to be good teams. That's true-I think the Big XII is at its best point that it has been in quite a while (thinking about the Big XII teams even before they joined the conference). Now, the number of titles that the Big XII teams have won in the last 50 years-that's an amazing statistic for a power conference. Does anybody know how many it is? While I do like where the Big XII is headed now, I'm not sure it's quite as good as the 80s Big 8 with Billy Tubbs's Oklahoma teams, a good K state program under Hartman and Kruger, KU, and Missouri under Norm Stewart. I'd agree, although in the next few years, KSU, KU, UT, OSU, TT, and Mizzou, and aTm all look to be headed in the right direction to make it an outstanding conference.
  24. After the top few spots, there is really nobody worth trading up to get this year in my opinion.
  25. Booyah! Huge win for the Tigers tonight. Mizzou with a very faint heartbeat for the tourney right now, which if you woulda told me after the kU game, I would have called you crazy. Its nice to have a team thats competitive and winning games, as opposed to the crapfest Mizzou has given us the last three years. Wow.. Mizzou fans rooting for the same team I do.. :) I'm totally rooting for Mizzou at this point in time.
