  1. Xavier kicked our collective ass tonight. Beasley had one point when my TV switched to PS3 Mode with 3 mins left in the game. Way too many freshmen mistakes tonight paired with horrible coaching led to an absolute ass kicking.
  2. We'll see how much KSU has actually grown up tomorrow vs Xavier in Cincy. God I wish Beasley were going to be around more than one year.
  3. For your viewing pleasure if you're stuck at work on a Christmas Eve...
  4. I know we played Cigarette state, but Beasley is an animal!
  5. This hurts me in my Roadkill keepers... Now Garza will be pitching for the D-Rays! UGH!
  6. I can't believe people didn't see this coming (I don't mean you, and I don't mean necessarily against George Mason). K-State isn't going to be a top-25 team this year. Maybe if they still had Huggins. Honestly, I was surprised when I saw them in the preseason Top 25. Of course, at that time I was still under the impression that Beasley was a 6-4 guard for some reason, but still. I think they sold their soul to keep that recruiting class, so to speak. I don't think Martin is up to the task of high-major college coach. I agree completely. Martin will turn out to be a big mistake. Keeping together one recruiting class is never a sufficient reason to hire a coach. It's myopic. You guys are nuts! Wait til Sutton gets here in 2 weeks and Hoskins is back.. Without Hoskins, we're missing a key piece of this team. He was 2nd team all Big 12 last year. He adds a whole new piece to this team. Sutton will be another HUGE freshman influence. Sutton, Hoskins, Beasley, and a decent night from Walker makes this a whole different team. What we started tonight was a bunch of inexperience. I don't disagree that Martin needs to be more vocal, but we're fine. I really am one that does think a loss for this young of a team this early in the year is good. Add in our missing pieces, and we're fine. I for one am thinking that keeping Martin to keep the recruiting class was a good move. You all may change your minds come January... We'll make freshmen mistakes and lose a few we shouldn't, but we'll also win some big games. Mark my word. That being said, I do miss Cartier Martin. Hell.. look at what Martin has already layed out for 2009.. I know they haven't "signed" yet, but these commits are great to have this early... From rivals.com Wally Judge PF 6-9 218 - Jacksonville, FL -4 Star Rodney McGruder SG 6-4 195 - Washington, DC - 4 Star Talent is only half the battle. I don't know much about Martin, perhaps he is a good coach. If not, you'll soon realize how little 4 stars means with no one to coach. I'm not sticking up for Martin, but I do think he'll learn as this team will. It'll get better as the year goes on. I hope we start to see the Huggins in him soon. We're one week into the season, and having a player like Beasley doesn't ever hurt. He makes it look way too easy. We'll get to the tourney, especially if Hoskins does come back, which by the way does worry me from what I'm now hearing from my inside people. I'd change my tune a bit if Hoskins doesn't come back. That being said, if he doesn't we'll struggle until we gain an identity. Also if he doesn't, I'm happy we'd have him and Walker next year, as he'd likely get a medical redshirt, and there's no way Beasley is not in the NBA next year. Sutton will be big in a couple/3 weeks, and once, he gets going we'll be pretty good in January/Feb. I like Martin and his intensity, but if he can coach or not is yet to be seen. That being said though, I love the committments he's getting for the future.. If Hoskins doesn't come back, and Walker doesn't learn to play the 2 (I personally think he should be playin the 3), we may do less than I think this year. I don't ever hype this team as a top 10 team, but we'll be in the top 25 most of the year if what i'm thinking they can do is correct, and we learn some chemistry.

  8. A loss for this team is good early. Beasly is dominant, and Walker was absolutely terrible tonight. We need a HEALTHY Hoskins, Walker to get his head out of his ass, and this team will be good come January.. Stewart and Young were also terrible tonight. I love this team, and this early loss should help in the future. George Mason is a VERY disciplined team. Hoskins being out hurts a LOT. Also having Dominique Sutton join this team in a couple weeks is HUGE. I look for them to mature a lot as the year goes on, and be a top 3 team in the Big 12.. or so I hope! :)
  9. The Mike Beasley show about to be on ESPN2 right now.. :) Makes for a nice end to a wonderful Thanksgiving.
  10. I disagree.. We'll have more scoring threats on the floor at one time then Texas did, which will open up Beasley more. Hoskins will be playing the 2, which he'll be able to back down a guard with his strength. Having Walker, Hoskins (2nd team Big 12 last year) and Beasley means that Beasley won't be able to get the attention that teams gave to Durant last year. He won't have the numbers, but his influence will be just as much as Durant was.
  11. Beasley had 32 and 24.. WOW. Nice Start! We are going to be really good this year. I like the result of the first game against even someone like Sacramento State. No Stewart, Walker and no Hoskins, all out with injuries. We got to play a lot of new players, and with a healthy Blake Young this year, I'm very very excited. Don't be surprised to see Beasley have as good of year as Durant had last year, but with possibly more scoring help from the 3 above mentioned players than Texas had.
  12. Kansas State Wildcats: AP #25, ESPN #26 Probable Starters David Hoskins F SR 6-5/230 Bill Walker F FR 6-6/220 Michael Beasley F FR 6-9/235 Clent Stewart G SR 6-4/195 Blake Young G SR 6-2/195 Bench Luis Colon C SO 6-10/260 Jacob Pullen G FR 6-1/175 Fred Brown G FR 6-3/185 Andre Gilbert F JR 6-7/185 Darren Kent F JR 6-10/210 Dennis Clemente G JR 6-0/180 Ron Anderson F FR 6-8/260 It's the Beasley, Hoskins, Walker show. Hoskins comes out to play the perimeter, where he'll either A. Be able to post up a guard after playing pretty much the 4 the last 2 years. B. Bring a big man away from the basket where he'll leave Beasley down low. I expect Beasley to be the #1 or #2 draft pick after this year. If he's as good as Durant was last year, we'll be a top 5-10 team. In a scrimmage last week at Marquette, which took the place of one of our pre season games, Beasley scored 42 and had 12 boards. Pretty damn impressive. We're picked anywhere from 2-4 in the Big 12. Blake Young will be a surprise this year, as he was injured a lot of last year. He's really fast and very explosive. He's probably our best defender on the perimeter. Bill Walker will be the wild card. He'll dominate games at times. We have 3 new players, 2 of them being Freshmen in Brown and Pullen that will also contribute. Clemente, Colon, Kent and Gilbert will all also see a lot of PT. This season will all depend on how these young guys adapt to college basketball speed. Hoskins and Stewart are great senior leaders. Hell, Hoskins was 2nd team all Big 12 last year, and didn't even make all preseason Honorable Mention. We're VERY talented. If we can play good Defense, we'll contend for the Big 12 title.
  13. It was pretty funny actually. Usually if anyone on my team gets the front nine strikes, there is this guy on the team that will buy you a shot to calm you down before the 10th frame. Well, he wasn't there this week, so I went and bought my own shot, and managed to finally finish it out. Another funny thing about it is that we have this one guy that subs for us, and he's been there for every one of my high scores (299, 298, 297, 296 (2x)). I would say yes, I've choked in all of those situations but the 299, it was a great shot. I was so excited the night I got it, I had to post. Thanks for the kind words. Definitely my best sports experience so far, and that includes some pretty good baseball ones.
  14. Is there a post season roster thread??
  15. My first 300 game tonight. After multiple 299, 298, and 297 games.. I'm satisfied! :)
  16. Did you see how many tipped passes there were last week vs Texas? I loved listening to Ron Prince talk about d-lineman getting their hands up. Reesing can run, but with 4 LB and a pretty good secondary (Watts didn't even play vs Texas, and J. Moore hasn't played YET this year), we have the run covered. Reesing will be forced to pass, and I guarantee there will be enough pressure and he goes down a LOT. I'll predict he's out of the game and Meier is in by the 3rd. Reesing has also never played on the road. Let alone in front of the loudest 50,000 fans in college football. Our D is FAST, and played without our 2 best in the secondary vs Texas. Reesing is shorter than Colt, so I expect our line to make a difference. KU has played NO ONE all year. We've played at Auburn (had the game won for 55 mins), and at UT, and you see how that played out. I love Prince and our game plans thus far. HINT: You haven't even seen the deep passing game yet. It's coming! Talib vs Jordy will be a good matchup, but watch for us to exploit you deeeeeep with Deon Murphy this weekend. My prediction, because it's in Manhattan: KSU 35 KU 14. Return to dominance Cats over KU. I'll come back and eat crow if I'm wrong. Oh by the way, I haven't even mentioned our 6'4-6'5 265 QB yet. He's a sophomore. He'll be a name to remember for a few more years. Coming out party for Mr. Freeman.
  17. YES. We're gonna have our hands full with KSU next week. But just because they beat Texas doesn't mean we can't beat them. KU has played absolutely nobody this year. I'm not discounting them, especially in a possible let down game for us after such a big one on the road.... but to say that KU is the best team in the Big 12 after their patsy schedule is a bit absurd. That being said, it's a very important game next week for both teams and should be a good one.
  18. That makes our loss at Auburn a bit easier to take. Jesus is there parity in college football or what?
  19. I don't think he'll go and he shouldn't go. After this season USF will come up with the money to keep him there. He has it made there. He has the hottest new program in the country and couldn't be in a better place for recruiting. They've recently been giving him the resources and he's got that thing rolling. He's in a good but not great BCS conference. Plus he doesn't have to deal with super-high expectations. It's funny, five years back when Ferentz was really looking into the Jaguars job I was told that IF Kirk left, Jim Leavitt was a guy identified as a top target. I had no idea who he was at the time but he spent 10 years in Iowa and was a grad assistant under Hayden Fry. He's turned down some interest in the last couple of years and I think he would be crazy to go anywhere now. Isn't it amazing how many of today's big name coaches had a history under Fry and Bill Snyder?
  20. I'm up for basketball season too.. Bring on the Bill Walker/Michael Beasley show! :)
  21. :) What a great day. I worked from 7pm last night til 10 am this morning, slept for 4 hours, watched the game, and am now back at work. Today's win made the lack of sleep WELL worth it. Now, lets kick the crap out of KU next week!
  22. Do you want to make the trade since you made the trade with Fuzzy? I'm sure it's ok to do since not playing now.
  23. That should be a very good game. 2 weeks, is this a bowl game? :D Haha! :)
  24. Remember what happened to UT last time they played KSU? I'm not saying we'll win again, but we're a much better team than we were last year. Texas has pretty much almost pissed down their leg in 2 of their games this year. I wouldn't count KSU out. We've had 2 weeks to prepare.
  25. Thought so.. lol...
