  1. The storms should be out of Cincinnati sometime overnight and the current forecast has just a 0-20% chance of precipitation all day. But with the wind (still 25 mph), limited sunshine, and falling temperatures, it's not going to be all that warm. By the way, the wind will be howling out to left/left-center the entire game.
  2. There's a thread on it here: viewtopic.php?t=30145
  3. It looks like they did a great job with the exterior wall. Should look pretty good from the el or when walking by. And hopefully there are going to be one or two more bleacher exits.
  4. Thanks, Bruce. So it doesn't look like LaRue will be ready? I haven't heard any updates on him for a few days.
  5. How's Wycklendt looking? Bad (.238/.281/.321), along with the rest of the offense. Among players with at least 50 ABs, we have exactly two who are hitting over .250. Mule has basically been it. He's hitting .386/.474/.518. And our best starter ERA is 4.15. The others are above 5.00. I'm still surprised the Astros signed Mark Ori, let alone drafted him. He was only a junior and gave no indication that he wanted to leave. I wonder how many more credits he needs to get his degree.
  6. This quote made me giggle:
  7. Woo. Despite going winless in March, we took 3 of 4 from Michigan this weekend, including a DH sweep yesterday afternoon. Their first home game is Friday when they open up a series against Indiana.
  8. Hard to figure how that could be a screw up, but it sure looks like it. With him, the 40-man roster stands at 41 and the active roster stands at 26 (once Theriot is sent down).
  9. Weeghman Park lasted for about 6 years and then Cubs Park for 6 more. It was named in honor of owner William Wrigley, though, not the Wrigley company. The only difference between that and Comiskey Park is that Wrigley also had his name attached to his gum company. Otherwise it's the same concept.
  10. Shouldn't be. There are no other games during that time and I don't recall any Wednesday day games being blacked out before when that's the case. But we'll just have to wait and see.
  11. Len mentioned during the game today that there was some discrepancy in the two radar guns. One pitch by Wuertz, I think, was clocked at both 84 and 88.
  12. It is also interesting to note that Maddux's ERA+ in 1994 of 273 was the largest in NL history outside of Tim Keefe's 294 in 1880 (0.86 ERA in 105 IP, just a small fraction of the average IP for starters. His career high was 619 IP in 1883.). Pedro's 285 in 2000 is the best in AL history.
  13. On the other hand, if he makes $13.5 million in 2007 and is healthy, he could be in line for a much bigger payday. And I still believe he has a strong desire to stay in Chicago. His kid will be less than a year old and it would be tough for them to move away from his wife's family. It's a $3 million buyout, by the way. If you take that into account, it's "only" an extra $10.5 million for the Cubs.
  14. If Maddux and Rusch (hopefully) are both out of the rotation next season and Kerry is healthy pretty much from the time he returns, I don't see them passing on the option. I also don't see talks about a possible contract extension if that's the case until after 2007.
  15. If it's Boise and they are being cautious, yeah. I am looking forward to seeing at least him or Veal with the Chiers this season.
  16. Maddux led the NL in ERA+ in 1992 (166), 1993 (171), 1994 (273), 1995 (259), and 1998 (191). He led the majors in 1994, 1995, and 1998. All-time, he's tied for 14th with Mordecai Brown and Cy Young at 138. Among active pitchers, he's 4th behind Pedro Martinez (166 and 1st all-time), Roger Clemens (143 and 8th), and Randy Johnson (142 and 10th).
  17. The forecast right now calls for a high of a high temperature of 61 degrees, 20% chance of rain, and winds of around 25 mph. The radar will update automatically: http://image.weather.com/web/radar/us_ind_closeradar_medium_usen.jpg
  18. Wednesday's game will be on ESPN, by the way. There shouldn't be any blackout for those in Chicago.
  19. Not a bad way to end ST. Oh, and that's why I'd like a little power off the bench.
  20. Every time I see Coats I forget that he's 6'3'' for some reason.
  21. I'm not so sure about that. Hairston almost caught that ball on the fly. If it's caught, he still would have had plenty of time to get back. It would have taken a little bit of time to get a throw off on a full extension dive like that. He didn't really need to start retreating. And he wasn't even watching.
  22. There's a thread in transactions on it. And it is a joke.
  23. I don't think I've ever seen that happen. Ramirez should have let it go, though. There was still a chance of it going foul.
