  1. 2011 Gold Cup final will be at the Rose Bowl.
  2. It would seem like going after such agents would earn an attorney general or law enforcement officer some political points in public image. Hopefully it happens more frequently.
  3. Saban had quite a few things to say about agents at SEC media day today. I agree with him that the NCAA needs to work with the NFL to hold agents accountable. That will also mean they will need to hold boosters more accountable too and in a more timely fashion. They at least have the ability to control boosters. Agents can do whatever they want and can't get punished. Georgia, it's your turn.
  4. Here's an update on the US bid to host the World Cup, including how China is backing the US.
  5. Marcell Dareus has been declared ineligible by the NCAA. Saban had quite a few things to say about agents at SEC media day today. I agree with him that the NCAA needs to work with the NFL to hold agents accountable.
  6. I think recently they gave some coverage to a U-20 or U-17 World Cup. Maybe it was in 2009 before the Confederations Cup... I think both 2007 and 2009 for the U-20 World Cup. I'm not sure if any of the women's games have been live on ESPN/2 or just replays, but ESPNU coverage is fine by me. ESPN is making a big push for ESPNU (now in HD, moving college football games previously on ESPN Classic to ESPNU, adding the 1 hour of College Gameday to ESPNU, etc.). It'll be a nice place to have the youth teams.
  7. Marcel Dareus of Alabama is (at least) player #3 to be investigated by the NCAA for the South Beach party hosted by an agent: I love that a Twitter post from one player was the big factor in getting this investigation rolling. There's less than 10 people in the department that investigates these kinds of things and that Twitter post was just served up on a platter for them.
  8. USC has a copy and Bush has a copy.
  9. He's a bad cross between Adam West and John Waters.
  10. Masoli completed his credit hours and graduated this summer, so he's looking for another team to let him play for a year as a graduate student. Ole Miss has turned him away. Any team looking for a convicted criminal to line up under center for a season?
  11. In addition to the investigation at UNC, we have and
  12. I'm guessing to give him a couple of weeks' worth of material to write about.
  13. You have to admire the self-restraint of not going into a tangent on the laziness of Aramis Ramirez, though.
  14. Nery Castillo is the DP. By the way, I'm finally watching the 30 for 30 special The Two Escobars. Very well done.
  15. same here. it seems to sell out within 5-8 minutes. i tried for the washington game and was told no tickets available for 200 section by 10:07. I just pulled up 2 tickets in the 200 level for the washington game, but they were club level, $250 seats. Screw that. Another thing I hate about ticketmaster is that can't look for best available under lets say $100 or something. If you search for 2 tickets at the $68 range, you are really narrowing down your chances of pulling tickets, especially if you don't mind paying anything under $100. But if you search best available, you always end up with some $250 tickets you can't afford. You have to specific the 400 level to avoid that. Which sucks because you lose out on all of the endzone seats that are cheaper. And unfortunately, you almost always have to go for 2 tickets. You'll only have a shot at 4 for the least desirable games. I did well. 4 for the Seahawks and 2 for Patriots online and 2 for the Jets on the automated line.
  16. The Fire will be announcing the signing of a new DP after Saturday's SuperLiga match. Could be Blanco.
  17. I got 2 buddies from Boston coming up for that Pats game...the pressure is on. Based on previous experience, as long as you are at the computer exactly when they go on sale, you should get tickets to 1 game. But by the time you purchase the one game, everything else is nearly sold out except for the expensive seats. That's not true for the most desired games. If you go for the Packers or the Vikings (this year), you're likely going to get shut out no matter how quickly you get through. But hopefully the Patriots game won't be at the top of people's lists. I have gotten 2 games for the last few years. Usually one online and one through the automated phone line, though online gets priority. And I've always been able to get some over the phone maybe 15 minutes after they go on sale, but it's hard. Normally I'd go for the least desirable game, but with college football, I'll be busy enough through November. And since the Lions are the home opener, they'll be a bit more desirable than normal. The Seahawks and Redskins will be the "easiest" to get this year.
  18. Tickets on sale Saturday. Gonna go with either the Patriots or Jets in December.
  19. Strange things going on at North Carolina:
  20. There wouldn't be an empty seat at Lambeau for a game between any teams. Same goes for Soldier Field and Indy. Detroit, though, I'm not so sure. The problem has nothing to do with the weather. It's the location. Not a fun drive from Penn State or Ohio State.
  21. Lambeau Field has expressed interest in hosting a potential Big Ten championship game, along with Soldier Field, Ford Field, and Lucas Oil Stadium. I'm sure there will be a rotation, but as much as I hate the Packers, I'd rather have it played outdoors in Lambeau than inside in Indy.
  22. I thought that was gonna be stupid but it was actually quite hilarious. When I heard the ESPYs were last night I assumed it was a given that they'd spoof it. I assumed it was going to be awful, though. That was actually good.
  23. Wasn't Robben fouled outside of the 18, anyways?
  24. Apparently he just got fed up with the daily grind and frustrated by the program's slow growth, so he retired. Assistant coach Robbie Caldwell is now the interim head coach.
