  1. What a ridiculous dive... Makeup call, I suppose. Switzerland just need a 1-0 win right now.
  2. What on earth was the Chile keeper doing? There were 3 red jerseys coming back without a Spanish attacker in sight.
  3. Listen to this now: http://www.fanaticos.com/2010/06/23/asi-narro-andres-cantor-el-gol-de-landon-donovan/
  4. Apparently not losing was more important to Portugal than avoiding a potential semifinals match against Argentina (instead of US/Ghana/South Korea/Uruguay).
  5. -16 by South Korea in 1954, and they only played two games also. Lost to Hungary 9-0 and Turkey 7-0. They avoided eventual champion West Germany, which scored 25 goals in 6 games so they likely would have been over 20. The 16 goals are also the most allowed in a World Cup. EDIT: Which is the foul that Brazil should have been red carded for. I've been paying more attention to the other game. Flagrant hand ball on a breakaway. Perhaps not a true "obvious" scoring opportunity, but it sure looked like it would have been a great chance had the ball been allowed to go through.
  6. How did they even qualify, saber-rattling? They advanced out of a final group round with South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and UAE with a 3-3-2 record. They were with South Korea, Jordan, and Turkmenistan in round 3. And their 1st round matches were against Mongolia.
  7. Anyone know the record for the lowest goal differential in the group stage? North Korea currently sits at -10.
  8. That was a dive, but Portugal can't be happy with the ref right now. Should be 11 v. 10.
  9. Tomorrow's action: Group G North Korea (0 points, -8) vs. Ivory Coast (1 points, -2) Brazil (6 points, +3) vs. Portugal (4 points, +7) Ivory Coast would have to win BIG to advance. But hey, wouldn't that be fun to watch? The real question, though, is who wins the group. Group H Switzerland (3 points, 0) vs. Honduras (0 points, -3) Chile (6 points, +2) vs. Spain (3 points, +1) Switzerland may have a legitimate chance of knocking Spain out of the tournament. Spain can also win the group with a victory over Chile and a point differential advantage over Switzerland, though.
  10. A must watch video:
  11. Pretty sure the answer is no. I posted this a little earlier, though:
  12. Japan looking good to advance with a wonderful free kick to put them up 2-0.
  13. Denmark on life support.
  14. YES
  15. Oh come on.
  16. Wrong.
  17. BWAHAHAHAHA
  18. Nope. And it's glorious.
  19. Damn. Tuned in a minute after the goal.
  20. This year, the Fire have at least 8 on channel 50, 9 on Comcast SportsNet Chicago, 5 on ESPN/2, 6 on Fox Soccer Channel, and 4 on TeleFutura
  21. Here's the first reaction from inside the stadium that I've seen. Also, some ESPN3 numbers:
  22. I was just coming here to post .
  23. I have yet to see that. By the way, how about Ian Darke's call? Just a perfect soundtrack to the goal. Wonderful build up.
