  1. I think I've seen this movie before.

Granny Smith up 13-6 over Fuji? Don't make me lock this thing.
  3. WHERE'S THE FOUL!?!?
  4. If Northwestern hangs onto the ball, that won't lose.
  5. They've had that during Big Ten football games for at least the past three weeks. Oh my. Tell me about it. I first noticed it during the Northwestern/Michigan game.

  7. $3 million a year can make a huge difference between signing a top free agent and losing out.
  8. Drew is the only bat out there right now that will make me feel good about this offense. A lineup of Murton, Drew, Lee, Ramirez, Barrett, Jones, DeRosa, pitcher, and Izturis wouldn't be so bad. If they grossly overpay for Soriano, you risk replacing Jones' 2006 season with Soriano in 2007...and then having Jones. Drew transforms the top of that lineup and adds much needed OBP and power. Soriano would be better suited for the 5 spot, meaning DeRosa would likely bat 2nd. And I don't think any of us wants to see that.

Pick your favorite. Mine is fuji...easily.
  10. You think Soto would do better than Blanco regardless of the cost? How is that? Soto is very likely to hit less than Blanco does-even if Blanco regresses signficantly from his career year last year, Soto still only had a 739 OPS in Triple A, and looked lost at the plate in his very limited major league at-bats. If he played for the Cubs next year, I bet he wouldn't get above a .600 OPS. Do you think he's defensively better than Blanco? I doubt that as well. I can see why it can be argued that Soto for cheap is better than Blanco value wise, but I see no way that he's simply the better player. Blanco's career line is .225/.290/.367/.657. He also had a minor league line of .247/.325/.375/.700. Not too hard to top that.
  11. Hank White can't hold his own. You're just saying that because he's a terrible hitter.
  12. $50 for a jersey after shipping? Not too shabby. I don't like how Reebok makes their replicas, though. I don't like the collar and the arms are huge. They also seem to run big.
  13. Damn. I guess I was too pessimistic with my 2/$5.5 prediction. What a stupid, unnecessary, stupid move.
  14. DePaul is no Cornell.
  15. Northwestern takes down DePaul 49-39!!! I'm glad they were able to host DePaul so early in the non-con season. Last time they played at Welsh-Ryan, students were already gone for winter break. Sounded like a nice student atmosphere tonight.
  16. What a stupid move by Hendry. Quite typical, though. Way too many years and way too much money for an average at best player.
  17. I agree and here's something far fetched to think about. On Baseball this Morning on XM the jeniuses there were advocating signing Soriano to play left because I quote Orestes Destrada (loosely) " Matt Murton after a hot first month was a disapointment the rest of the season so I would play Soriano in left and play this kid, this great kid the Cubs have Angel Pagan in centerfield" Ouch... Just for kicks: Murton - .297/.365/.444 Pagan - .247/.306/.394
  18. According to chicagosports.com, because of the Vikings' skid, the Bears are most likely done on Sunday Night Football for the rest of the year.
  19. That's way, way too big of a contract to give to someone who's coming off his only great year of his career at the age of 30. He may very well have figured things out, but Drew is the better player, will come cheaper, and his .393 OBP would look pretty damn good in the two spot, along with his .512 career SLG.
  20. It was named for William Wrigley.
  21. Here's the FG return: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-CvigCTQSQ
  22. Harris got him right around belt-level. He slid down his legs, but never really grabbed them or wrapped them up. And by the time Harris was at his legs, Brown already had one of his legs wrapped up.
  23. Hendry signed Ramirez to a great deal, but it was a huge risk that I don't think was worth taking. Fork over another $5 or $6 million and Jim doesn't get this close to losing him. And if he did lose him, the team would be irreparable. Overall, though, everything that has happened so far was expected and didn't take that much. Now he's just back to the same bad roster from last year. He actually has to make this team good now.
