  1. The speculation in the Trib earlier was that both Clark and Gould were due for new contracts. Clark especially because of his "mentoring" role with Olsen.
  2. Modernizing one of the old uniforms for a game might be a good idea, too.
  3. I can't remember the last time I've seen Northwestern play in a game this intense and enjoyable to watch.
  4. I posted this earlier, but if anyone is looking at StubHub, check out SlickDeals for $20 coupon codes. I'd recommend waiting before buying, though.
  5. I missed it live, but I'm quite glad that FSC decided not to show the gruesome angles that they had. They only replayed the original shot as it happened and you couldn't really see it. Needless to say I probably won't be watching that video. They said it looked really bad, though.
  6. Yeah, Griese is as good as gone right now, but I'm sure they'll wait until Rex's contact is official.
  7. Manchester United 5-1 on Newcastle. Way too easy.
  8. Great news. We'll see if it has any impact on the Berrian talks.
  9. Eddie Johnson went in for Dempsey in the 75th minute for his Fulham debut.
  10. they don't want eBay biting into their own scalping industry I'm sure the StubHub, which is owned by eBay, and Cubs/MLB deal is plenty profitable for all parties.
  11. Apparently MLB is having eBay remove a ton of auctions that have a Cubs logo or picture of a player because they don't want buyers to think that they're buying directly from the Cubs or MLB. I wonder if they're just trying to push people to use StubHub since they make so much more money. Of course, in the process, eBay would be pissing off a lot of people and losing customers. It doesn't seem like it would be worth it. By the way, has anyone had any luck buying tickets for hot games the first day Will Call opens up? I remember there being some scattered and limited view seats available at least one year, but they don't last long.
  12. It's pretty common for boosters of a large program to donate large amounts of money just to pay a buyout of a coach they don't like. But wouldn't IU buy him out regardless of the booster? But if the booster knows that something might be happening with Samson and he offers half a million, it is hard to turn that down. I just didn't know that boosters could be that direct with the money in that it can go directly where they want it. Yeah, boosters absolutely love to offer up large donations to get rid of coaches. I'm sure it gets pretty out of hand behind the scenes. In this case, the donation probably sped up the process if nothing else.

  14. The ebay route can be tricky. I'd wait assuming you can afford to pay off the CC or assuming that you have one with a low interest rate. But the longer you wait, the more it's going to cost you in interest, so it might be better to unload now. When selling on Ebay, keep in mind how much ebay is going to charge and the take paypal will get. Yeah, figure that you'll lose 6-7% in eBay and PayPal fees combined. Maybe a little more if you use Buy It Now.
  15. Well, I did about as well as I could have hoped except for an 80 minute drought after the first half-hour. But I was able to get back in and get cheap seats to the Memorial Day and Labor Day games. Time to restart my computer so it doesn't take 5 minutes to print things out.
  16. I got through about 5 times in the first 30 minutes, but I'm working on a 30 minute dry spell right now. I have over 1,100 windows open, which makes my computer slow as hell, though. Once I get through, it takes a couple of minutes just to open up that tab.
  17. Man I really overloaded my computer. I got bleacher tickets for the Saturday White Sox game and they were still under 1,000. By the way, you'll need both your CC number and your security code on the back.
  18. Yeah, something is going on. I tried it straight from the Cubs.com schedule and it's only a blank screen right now. Hopefully they'll fix it soon.
  19. You'll have to refresh all of the tabs once the VWR starts.
  20. I can only wish this was for a Hannah Montana concert.
  21. The tab or window title will change from "Virtual Waiting Room" to "Chicago Cubs Ticketing." If you have a bunch of windows and/or tabs open, just look for the first letter to change from a "V" to a "C," although it will display http://frontline... while it's refreshing. That's what I thought. Did you guys use this strategy for playoff tickets? We took over a computer lab here at school for the playoffs and we couldn't open new tabs. Still got tickets running 32 computers with Firefox and IE running one window a piece. Yeah, pretty much. I was only able to try for NLDS tickets and had good luck. My older brother got shut out for NLCS tickets, but my younger brother got through three times very quickly. They both used the same method.
  22. Open up the URL into one tab and just hit control+alternate+T. You can do it before 9:30 and use the "reload all tabs" function of tab mix plus, as well. It'll take up a lot of memory to begin with since they'll be loading at the same time, but they'll begin to stagger out a bit pretty quickly. Where is the "reload all tabs" option? Thanks for all your insights into this, Jon! Also if half my window is taken up with tabs, and one gets through, how do I maximize that screen so I don't have half my screen taken up with tabs? The best option would be to go back into the Tab Mix Plus options and reduce the number of visible rows back down to something more manageable until you complete the order. Or, if you want, you can protect the tab you get through in (just to be sure) and then right-click on the tab and pick the "close other tabs" option. That will close all of the other tabs, but I'd be a little worried about making a mistake at that point.
