  1. No kidding. I realize it's a bit chilly outside, but it's freaking opening weekend, against a beatable opponent! And our team is trying to get over .500 for the first time since 2009! Ticket prices. True. Couldn't believe how much my son was saying they were. Yikes. Yeah, I don't think this team is going to be all that great this year. It was probably a good time to lower prices a bit to pull people in, rather than doing the opposite. Exactly. I'm hoping for some cheap second-hand tickets.
  2. Leave it to Castro to be the only bright spot in the inning.

  4. They showed Marmol at the Bulls game last night. He looked so different, hardly recognized him.
  5. No kidding. I realize it's a bit chilly outside, but it's freaking opening weekend, against a beatable opponent! And our team is trying to get over .500 for the first time since 2009! I'd want to get there early to see Garza.
  6. What's up with this dude? Let's move it along.
  7. $not,enough.00 I thought I heard at one point it was 950k this year 1.1 mil next. Not bad. My daughter was asking what his was in relationship to the players. I couldn't find a new list for 2011, but Lou was right under Torre on an old one I found. Good savings for the Cubs. Hopefully he'll be well worth every penny.
  8. Does anyone know what Quade's salary is?
  9. All signs were pointing toward Sandberg until Quade won a couple more games than expected and gave them a reason to hire him. Hendry often has crazy plans, and he switches them up in a heartbeat. There's no set path. I'm sure he saw the success and thought it must have been because of the manager, since all the talent he acquired couldn't possibly be a sub .500 team. I say why not give him the job. They were so awful last season, give him the job when it's not like he can do any major damage. Last year was painful! I'd like something at least remotely interesting to watch if nothing else. What's done is done, and hopefully one day he can come back. None of us knows what went on behind the scenes, but if he was promised the job when Lou left, he got royally screwed. Period. A year ago no one was on the "Quade for manager" bandwagon, but now he's the manager. He's not quite as polarizing as Sandberg for manager would have been, that's for sure. My biggest hope is that Quade goes out of his way to prove he deserves this. Then again, with Hendry as GM, it's not like he's gonna have a lot of opportunity I guess. Still.... looking forward to April.....
  10. What a great loss. I'm just sorry that Ron, like many incredible Cubs fans, never got to see them go to the World Series and realize that dream, too.
  11. You can see Darwin Barney wince when he saw the injury. Yeah, you could see the blood right away. I was getting a little worried because they didn't have any update for so long, and sometimes that's not good news.
  12. Wow. That was really scary. You could tell he was really hurting, too. I hope he'll be OK. When that bat broke I was thinking how hard it broke, too.
  13. No kidding. I'd say the Rangers are my second favorite team. I love watching them play and really think they have a great chance in the playoffs. A friend of mine lives in Dallas and is a die-hard Rangers fan. They can relate to Cubs fans pain and even now as good as they've done and as much of a sure thing as the playoffs are for them, they are willing to count any chickens before their hatched.
  14. And here I was thinking this season was a total waste.....
  15. What a ripoff, poor guy. I love my giveaway keychain... it's got real Wrigley dirt in it! LOL
  16. Way more bad ass? Better, but not much. Bad phrasing. I wasn't suggesting Hamilton has been a hack and Cabrera has been superman. Miguel Cabrera this year would be a front runner if Jose Bautista didn't realize he was good at hitting home runs. I wish Cabrera would just start mashing... to see two potential Triple Crown winners in the same year? Wouldn't that be something special, wouldn't that be a wonderful thing? Be even more special if they were on the Cubs. Dare to dream.
  17. Yeah, it stinks. They're saying they don't know if it was his last pitch or building over time. They lean toward the last pitch, but you never know. I can't even imagine how devastating this is for Strasburg. I feel for the guy big time.
  18. Did anyone see the Comcast.net poll on this the other night after the game? It was Brenly coming in the overall big winner at about 46 percent then Sandberg at 27 and Girardi at 21, Quade had a few points.
  19. My thoughts exactly. I love Ryno. Hell, I named my kid after him. I'm not thrilled with the thought of wanting him to be fired in 3 or 4 years (or sooner). I've never thought of him as the manager type. . . bench coach or hitting coach I could see. LOL, named my kid after him, too, and let me tell you, it was a great choice. He's loved the name and through all the mispronunciations of it, has always thought it was cool.
  20. Same here, exactly. He was my favorite player, kept me into the Cubs. Started collecting his cards and have about 400 different ones. Do I want him to become manager? Not sure. As said above, I hate for anything to ruin the good memories, but there's a small part of me that can't think of anything cooler as a Cubs fan than Sandberg managing the team to a WS victory. For that slim chance alone, I'd kind of like to see him get a shot.
  21. The upside is that we won't have to suffer through embarrassing playoff losses.
