  1. The Phillies and So Taguchi have reportedly agreed to terms on a one-year deal with an option for 2009. Chris Snelling would be more useful off the bench as a pinch-hitter, but the Phillies wanted some extra protection in center field and Taguchi might still be a better option there than Jayson Werth. Unless someone gets hurt, there probably won't be any room for Snelling now. Source: Phillies.mlb.com
  2. Do you really think He'll be the Cubs GM in 2009? With our luck.. He will get a 4 year extension.
  3. Checkout the 2009 Free Agents on MLBtraderumors.com...I think the guy hendry should go after is C.C Sabathia....Rotation would be sick with him in it...Would only be 29 or 30 I beleive? To bad he's not a FA this year.
  4. Roto According to the Baltimore Sun's Roch Kubatko, rumors of a completed Brian Roberts-to-the-Cubs deal have been shot down by a few sources. A Chicago radio station reported that the Orioles and Cubs had come to an agreement. It appears that the teams have continued to talk despite Roberts' name coming up in the Mitchell Report and his admission that he used steroids. Sean Gallagher, Eric Patterson, Matt Murton and Ronny Cedeno are candidates to be involved in any trade that gets done.
  5. He didn't even have time to name his newborn son before traveling to Chicago for this pre-holiday press conference, saying through translator Matt Hidaka, ``Literally, I jumped on the plane. I'll name him when I get back.'' Thats awsome. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/mariotti/705974,mariotti121907a.article
  6. HUGE NEWS!!! Jonathan Papelbon said his dog ate the ball from the final out of the 2007 World Series. "My dog ate it," Papelbon said. "He plays with baseballs like they are his toys. His name is Boss. He jumped up one day on the counter and snatched it. He likes rawhide. He tore that thing to pieces. Nobody knows that. I'll keep what's left of it." It would have been more fitting if the dog was named Mientkiewicz. :D
  7. I heard the entire press conference and don't remember anything about him saying he fits best in the 3 hole. Me neither..Its on here though near the bottom http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/baseball/mlb/12/19/kosuke.fukudome.ap/index.html
  8. SI.com Fukudome said he probably hits best at No. 3 in the order and acknowledged that he wasn't real familiar with a Cubs lineup that features Alfonso Soriano, Derrek Lee and Aramis Ramirez. DLee to 2 Hole??
  9. Free agents-- Colon,Kyle Lohse,Livan Hernandez,Matt Clement Thats all I can think of now
  10. The way the conference went and the way they've been talking about him , they make it sound like he's going to be one of the top 5 in all of baseball... I just hope alot of the bleacher bums and people that don't have alot of knowledge about baseball do not boo him at the games if he get's off to a slow start..Like Jaque..That would just be very disrespectful for a guy who comes over to the states to play for us and also from a country where respect and culture are huge...I really think boo's would hurt him mentally big time since he's not used to that and came here hearing how great our fanbase is..
  11. I wish the seaosn started tommarrow..I can't wait to see the RF bleachers reactions
  12. Kouske is like " what the hell is going on?"
  13. If the Cubs acquire Brian Roberts, Felix Pie hits .260, and the Cubs don't suffer any major injuries to their everyday players, I'll predict the unthinkable - we will eclipse 800 runs scored. Felix Pie at .260 will be a valuable player. Agreed..The rest of the lineup will be really well set up where it won't hurt us and he can get his time in the majors and get well ajusted..Even if he was batting lower like .240 I guess I could take it just since the rest of the lineup looks sweet and it'll give him time to improve and plus he has great D to balance it out...Outfield looks set for the next 4 years..We'd have some really athletic, speedy OF'ers with cannon arms...Prediction: Cubs will lead majors in outfield assists
  14. If we get Roberts, this really solidifies the offense...Even if Pie is going to bat .260, we can deal with it and just stick him in the 8 hole and use him for his glove..Hendry just needs one more legit starter, because our 4 and 5 situtation scares me, then call it an offseason..
  15. Kosuke is in Chicago today for his physical..Looks liek he will be introduced to the chicago media and Japanese media tommorrow...He was reported to have said " Wow,Really Cold!" when he got to O'Hare
  16. I say do whatever it takes to get Bedard and Roberts and call it an offseason, Pitching staff and lineup then look really good..We don't need Roberts as much since the lineup is already looking good, but we definetley need to get another starter since the back of the rotation looks bad..If we have Z,Bedard,Lilly and Hill, I could care less who the number 5 is...If we have to trade Pie, who do we play in center then? Fukudome signed here because he wanted to play his natural position, So I don't see him going to CF right away...Would be nice if DeRosa of Theriot could play a good CF, then we don't need DeRo to sub and the lineup looks real good..
  17. Exactly...Look at Kerry Wood..Loyal, Dedicated guy...Mark Prior...Bottle and bib.. Yeah, heaven forbid a guy doesn't have loyalty for as team that fanned rumors of his "wussiness" which ended up delaying a surgery he needed for two years. The guy wants more money..for doing what?...Kerry Wood needed the surgery and time too..Came back like a man and said "I love this team and I owe them something" and took way less money..If Prior wants to sabotage the team,The big market team that drafted him, paid his dollars and has been loyal to him, through thick and thin, and then called himself " just an "employee" ..He can take freakin hike..Bottom line, he has hard personal feelings towards the Cubs and does not want to be here..Not anyone in the Cubs orginizations fault.
