  1. He's playing third. His throws looked awful. Their plan is that he will only face righties when playing 3b and occasionally give Barfield a rest at 2b.
  2. I just tuned in...and he just made an error. He scored the only run, but he just made a low throw that pulls the first baseman off the bag. The announcers said it was his second throwing error tonight. I've been watching. He threw the first one into the dugout.
  3. He was on WGN for 6 years. I thought that he just left for Arizona because it was a good opportunity with a new team. I believed the parting was amicable. Maybe it wasn't. But, he does like to slip in snide remarks against the Cubs and Cub fans even when they don't play the Cubs. He gets a lot of chances considering Grace refers to his playing days in Chicago.
  4. Did I just miss him, or did they not mention Macias? He was in there.
  5. Enjoy. I'm sure it will be Pagan in tomorrow's game since it is night/day games.
  6. Dusty said it would be a few games until they put Cedeno out there. They want him to work on foot work with Chris Speier.
  7. It seems strange that he's not even 29 yet. I remember talk of getting him in a potential trade of Sosa to the DBacks (at least I remember talk of Padilla, just don't remember if it was Sosa or not). He went straight from a reliever to a 200 IP starter, which probably played a part in his 2004/2005 health issues. I'm guessing Texas won't have a problem coming up with the cash to keep him. As a Cub, it would be interesting in the White Sox series when Padilla pitches. In particular when the battery is Padilla and Barrett and AJ is at the plate.
  8. Which pitchers are free agents after this season? Is there a list anywhere? I know some of the big names are........... Schmidt Zito Mulder Petitte
  9. It's already a given that he plans to bring back Pierre. Hendry reiterated it again on the Score670 this morning. Note: I heard that part replayed on the Score so I'm assuming it was conducted by one of their guys. I'm just not sure who it was.
  10. They also have very little advertsing(signage) compared to other professional teams. The rotating advertising thigamajigga behind homeplate, Bud Light Bleachers and the Walter E. Smythe dugout. And the few advertisers(United Airlines and such) that appear on the electronic boards.
  11. Trot Nixon coupled with Jacque Jones = every team pitching lefties against the Cubs
  12. well he got the number from Len Kasper in another forum..... If you called the Cubs and said in a confident voice "Jim Hendry's office, please", I'm sure the operator would transfer you to his assistant (or one of his assistants) and that person would stop you right there as soon as you said who you were... What if I said I were Coletti? Probably better to chose a name that didn't work for the Cubs. Coletti might know the secretaries.
  13. Brian C. Smooth might be able to bluff his way into a phone conversation with Hendry.
  14. That makes me think of Dennis Eckersley.
  15. Someone told me that's the #1 known number in Chicagoland behind 911. At first, I thought it was ridiculous, but then I got to thinking... it's probably accurate. Maybe 773-202-LUNA is second? 867-5309 is known throughout the country.
  16. But I have a feeling most women would disagree with you.
  17. Patrolling CF for your Chicago Cubs............... Mr. Byrnes http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j163/Niner74/MrBurns.jpg
  18. Note: I placed this thread in Transactions because I have no idea where it fits. This could lead to an off season trade of Elijah Dukes so I guess it kind of a transaction thread. Anyways here is an article from Baseball America in regards to Dukes......
  19. Beltre signed that contract immediately after this career season....... AVG .334 OBP .388 SLG .629 OPS 1.017 HR 48 His career year came at the right moment for him. His other 8 seasons don't resemble those numbers. Aramis has not put up those numbers. Beltre was given his contract solely on that season. No one took into account what he had done previously.
  20. If the Cubs could have won those 15 games they would be in first place in the NL central.
  21. Well, if his father is fired and considering the Cubs got rid of him once he might choose elsewhere.
  22. That was a reference to what David Cassidy said.
