well Carroll was hitting like .180 so it is not like he was a good hitter or anything. he's not, but you still have a guy behind him who's pretty much an auto out. If he hacks away he may GIDP. If not, you get Taveras up with two outs, and the bunt isn't a great option since the guys at all the other bases have to beat out a throw. taking a big chance with intentional walks when the pitcher is having control problems. I think with tonight's Lilly even that might backfire.
