  1. the cubs have scored more in this inning than in any of the previous 11 games
  2. He took their team to the World Series, of course people will like them. If he took the cubs to the world series in 2003, there would always be a spot in our heart for the man.
  3. There was this guy on WGN's sport central and he said he got a tape of Woods outing against lansing. He said that whatever they did with his mechanics worked wonders. he said that his ball is moving more than anything wood has thrown in the past including the 20k game in 1998. He said they took tapes from the 98 season to tried to get his throwing motion back to that.
  4. yes he tried to take the pitcher out, then bounced into foul territory
  5. Is it his soulful blue eyes? His rugged features? His silky smooth hair? My gf thinks he hot ever since he signed a ball for her after the last game against the marlins
  6. mabry cant hit for his life but he looks good at 1st
  7. i agree with you but the CBA wont allow that
  8. Finally, a poster who understands the free agent market. MPC is right. I heard Clemens was considering coming to the Cubs in June for $1 million, but once he heard how the fans were treating Jacque Jones, he changed his mind. Unless our fans are more friendly (I suggest bleacher fans wear nametags and address the players as "mister" and "sir"), we'll have no shot at signing an impact free agent next year. If the rumor is true and i highly doubt it is I dont think it was the booing so much as it was Derrek Lee broke his wrist Clemenes played in a far more volitaile cities than Chicago, thats for sure
  9. Trib is a corporation. the goal of corporation is to maximize profits. it's really that simple. if winning brings in more profits, I'm sure the Trib is all for it. if winning has nothing to do with profits, the Trib wouldn't give a damn about winning. If they cared about winning, we would have a couple of world series rings since they took the cubs over. However like you said winning in their eyes is the money coming in. The Trib has plenty of money to hire the absolut best managers and players yet there has only been a handful since they took over
  10. There is a salary cap in basketball, there is not one in baseball i would love to see Cuban, he has passion something that Andy MacPhail dosent have. when they turn the camera on him durning a game and he has that stupid grin eventhough the cubs are down 50-0
  11. How do you explain the 80's, and early 90's? I don't see the point in using such absolutes. It's not remotely true. i also see the late 90's when no one could beat them
  12. Zambrano needs to throw a gem Cain destroyed us last year complete game 2 hitter, 1 er, 1 bb only run was a HR by Lee
  13. it wont mean a damn thing unless no one is there.
  14. changed it to 7 the first was in April/ may 2 to astros 3 to milwaukee 2 to phillies 2nd was June/july 1 to milwaukee 3 to washington 4 to braves 3rd was August 2 to phillies 3 to mets 3 to Cincy 4th 1 against pirates 2 against dback 4 against san diego 1 against Giants
  15. 65 Strikes 22 balls way to work count you bunch of losers
  16. at least we faced a great pitcher tonight, at least we didnt lose to Jeff Fassero
  17. i really dont get why you call someone up and not use him seriously restovich comes up gets a handfull of bats in 2 weeks and everyone wonders why he cant hit the ball. the same thing will happen with theriot
  18. ya lets face it, we were going to lose before eyre even got in the game,
  19. gotta tip your cap
  20. Glad someone else heard "June 10." I was kinda shocked by that. But the more I think about it, if the small cast is coming off on June 3, mid-June doesn't seem too unlikely. Certainly a lot better than July 1 or later that most people originally feared. Sounds more like June 10th is day he returns to *playing*, not returning to the Cubs. no he said he hopes to be back by june 10
