  1. The seats had plenty of butts when Maddux wasn't here. the people that have the discretionary income are more likely to see a superstar and spend more at the game than a shcool teacher. If you had a choice of Maddux or Jerome Williams and you had that type of time and income I will save it for the Maddux game The Cubs are very close to selling out at the beginning of the season each year, at least for the popular dates. People aren't basing that on who the starter is that day, because there's no way to know who will be starting that day that far in advance. I'd say most people are buying tickets based on dates and the opponent rather than the starting pitcher. I think Derrek Lee probably brings in more attendance than Maddux. the tickets are sold yes, they made their money that way but they are losing a ton if the person decides not to waste their time going because Rusch or Williams is pitching. I refuse to buy tickets now without trying to figure out whos pitching
  2. he said he wants to be back by June 12 or thereabouts
  3. What game? Barrett won the game we swept, not jones so far jones has done more bad than good Jones did hit the three run homer though. And like somebody else said, Jones has been one of our better hitters recently. I'm not trying to excuse him for his baserunning though. yes he did and did hit another against the marlins but his noodle arm and lack of a brain have cost us Jacque Jones is not the reason the Cubs have lost 14 out of 17 games. hes part of the reason, there isint only one person to blame I know that he's not free from blame, but honestly, how many of those 14 losses did Jacque cost us? i never said it cost us wins, at the time, like tonight, and 2 weeks ago tonight, it potentially cost us runs with men at 3rd

  6. How was he horrible? He was hitting .263 off of the bench, served as a good pinch runner, and didn't make any errors. He did what was asked of him, I don't know what more you would have expected from him. a .579 OPS is horrible, bench player or not yet thats higher than Pierre Mabry Bynum Perez blanco

  8. thats being real nice, 1 time is a mistake, 2 times is pathetic, 3 times there are no words
  9. i was hoping something knocked him in the head so he might be able to figure out to stay close to the bag on fly balls
  10. only because he has picked them to go to the world series since forever
  11. according to Hendry, he is still 4+ weeks away
  12. 3 times in 2 weeks Can he not read the ball off the bat, or is he just plain stupid? the first was against the Pirates 2 weeks ago tonight the second was inbetween then, i forgot, that entire 14 game stretch was is a blur of failure the third was tonight

  14. It's frustrating that we accept "transitional teams". The Yankees and Red Sox win every year, we make as much money as at least the Red Sox, yet we do not win. We barely ever win. In fact, we never win. We shouldn't accept transitional teams. especially after the "transitional team" of 2005
  15. Zamrbano and Maddux are the only 2 pitchers who i think we can with with almost everythime they go out.
  16. Was he actually being serious? It would take more than another year or two for Maddux to get into the Hall as a Cub (I doubt anything less than another three years with a World Series title would do it). And it would be a horrible move for Hendry to make. There's no real impact move for Hendry to make. Aside from finding a platoon partner for Jones and firing most of the coaching staff, Dusty, and then himself, there are no easy answers. id give him a 1 year deal with a team option in 2008. he has shown that he still can be a great pitcher thus far. i would try really hard to resign him if he continues his performance this year so far
  17. Houston was dreadful last year at this same time, i dont know how bad they wanted the manager gone though
  18. he didnt give a really good anwser on fundamentals either, saying that a lot of players who have played the game for a long time are doing it. he was offering up more excuses than saying it has to stop
