  1. Its only a matter of time in my opinon before Wood (if healthy) gets the job I know id much rather have Wood at his best in the 9th over Dempster at his best
  2. But the Tribune can sell the Cubs whenever they want. The deadline is for TRB reorganization in general. The Cubs are just a very small part of that plan. Everything that I've read claims that Tribune wouldn't sell the Cubs if they opt to recapitalize. The Cubs and WGN are arguably the most profitable assets of Tribune company. It seems odd that they would use resources to reorganize if they plan to divest themselves of the Cubs; it would be more efficient to just sell the Cubs to the highest bidder and use the profits to appease the shareholders. Or it could be more profitable to give the impression that you aren't selling the Cubs, thus, hopefully driving up the offers from potential buyers. Again, we're talking about the Cubs. The offers will be there. These are business people and they aren't going to outbid themselves. Either the news report, of the specific dollar amount, is false; Cuban is crazy; or just a bad negotiator. There is no advantage in letting your competitors know your bid amount (it is not public). Zell is not disclosing his offer. Forbes has already apprasised it's value (add to that the recent sale of the Braves and any reasonable person can assume the starting bid for the Cubs). I find it hard to believe that Cuban would say this publically. Zell cannot put a offer in for the cubs till he dumps his ownership in the White Sox
  3. Joe Morgan is on WGN 720 right now, says he voted for him all 3 times
  4. not like im writing a paper thats going to be published and sent around the world
  5. I was going to post this earlier but I figured it'd be better (funnier) if I waited. I guarantee you someone is not going to get the sarcasm and is going to try to flame you for this. sarcasm on the internet is so hard to pick up most of the time
  6. yep because you need to look like Bonds to be using ?
  7. My guess is April Bowlby (Kandi) from 2½ men. yes it is

  14. i didnt like the bleachers at all and never intend on going back ill stay in my field box dont expect to hear any inteligent baseball talk either, everytime ive gone the biggest retards are always close by. like last year i sat in the bleachers the 3rd game of the reds series in April when Zambrano faced Milton (i think thats his name) the people behind me kept saying Maddux sucks this (cubs fans) and i go you know he isint pitching right, they go really, well he still sucks just my opinon, you may love it.
  15. I have so little respect for Schmidt based on his past comments about the Hall that I boycott him on my sim teams. Maybe Schmidt has changed his stance on voting for someone for the Hall ... when push comes to shove, I really wonder if he'd ever vote for another 3rd baseman, and I doubt he would. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-schmidt-halloffame&prov=ap&type=lgns
  16. is that your blog? The cubs are always going to be in Chicago, the owner may threaten to do it but there is no way the MLB will let one of it biggest cash cows move away and yes it is a rule that 1 owner cant own 2 teams or have stakes in more than 1 team
  17. what is IIRC
  18. No, the VWR is a lot better than a first-come, first-served model. The big ticket brokers would have all the tickets that way. The large scale operations could automate the ticket buying process and shut out everyone else. im sure the cubs could figure out a way around it if they really wanted to
  19. im not going to bother, you can walk up to the ticket window and get box seats for most games. i hate that the virtual waiting room is randomly selected, it should be first come first served.
  20. not a single one of us will care how much was payed if come late october the cubs are going down state street with the World Series Trophy
