  1. I'd rather have Wallace, Gordon and Deng. Agreed...and I'm not the biggest BG fan around. I wonder if you guys feel this way just because you don't like Kobe, or because you really think that Gordon and Deng are that good? I mean, I love both the guys, don't get me wrong, but I think if you have the change to get both Kobe and Bynum, I think that's a deal you have to do. I got no problem with trading Ben Gordon (I wanted Brandon Roy before last year's draft and was more than willing to part with BG - I'm not a fan of two short guards and Hinrich is more valuable to this team). When it comes to Deng, I'm much, much more hesitant (same with Hinrich). Bynum has a lot of potential but I don't think he's a deal-maker in any sense of it. While I don't like Kobe, he's the best non-big man in the game and he'd really solve a lot of the Bulls' height problems in the backcourt. My dislike for him doesn't matter into this equation. I agree pretty much 100%. I'm not much of a Kobe fan, but what he brings on the basketball court seems to be the difference maker in my mind as to what would make the Bulls playoff also-rans and having a genuine shot at the championship.
  2. Good to hear Colvin is doing well, think he'll be at Daytona all season, or does he have a chance to get bumped up to Peoria? I guess you could consider Peoria being "up" as it is further north, but his next step should be Tennessee. Shucks, I knew I messed that up somehow. I was thinking that Daytona was the rookie club and that Peoria was the regular A. I'm new to paying attention to the minor leagues, so I must take more time to figure everything out. So anyway, what are the chances he gets bumped to Tennessee? :) Edit: Ok, got it. Mesa is the rookie league team, Boise is the short-A, Peoria is the A, and Daytona is the advanced A. :taps head:
  3. Brew Crew. May they be an example of how to build a team for the new owners of the Chicago Cubs.

  5. In 43 straight Cubs home games that I have attended, dating back to 1998, they have won exactly zero. So get out your brooms, I'm going to the game! (thanks for the tix Vance, even though my curse will mean that the Cubs will have lost every game you've attended on your recent trip)
  6. Me too, but I can't get over the visceral, knee jerk disgust whenever I see the name "Izturis" in the lineup.
  7. Ramirez and Lee get no love. Whatever, they'll enjoy the few days off I'm sure.
  8. don't be ashamed...i think the same thing everygame hell, i still think we got a shot at the series 8-) Fool! Oh wait, so do I
  9. Lets draft every Patterson that ever enters the draft and just ruin them
  10. So where are you posting from tonight? Sitting right here at the house..... gonna leave in a few minutes and head into town for the game. I might be a little late, but so what ?? I'll be lucky if the CUBS show up by the ninth inning, eh? Won't we all Fred, won't we all.
  11. call me crazy - but if Marquis ends up 16-3 with a 2.60 ERA, we have to close to being in it...and he would have to close to Cy potential. Boy, Marquis and Cy Young - never thought those words would be used in the same sentence Except the sentence, "Jason Marquis will never win a Cy Young."
  12. I hate Fat Elvis
  13. I've never heard, well, anything about this guy, but his K rate seems pretty good, if not just plain decent. Is anybody high on his potential? 2-5 record with an ERA of 6.56 through 48IP...outside his K rate (which isn't too spectacular) he's been pretty bad. He reminds me of Matt Bruback for some odd reason. Yeah that's pretty horrible. Nevermind.
  14. depends on your definition of "better", I guess -- I'd say Jacque's actually been the better CF this year despite 2 errors to Hunter's 0 I'd respectively disagree. Jones is solid in the field, and so is Hunter. I agree that Hunter is overrated as a fielder, but he is an upgrade over Jones because of his slightly better throwing arm. Either way, I wouldn't want Torii on our team. I'm holding out hope that the Yankees make a move for him and overpay him after this season. +1

  16. It probably won't be Hendry's decision, because Hendry will most certainly be out when a new owner takes over. And the new GM may well want a different manager. If I were going to buy the Cubs, I'd probably be watching this situation closely. I would probably come to the conclusion that everyone in this organization, save the scouting department, has bat [poop] for brains, and needs to be fired. McDonough should be able to go back to marketing, but he's about the only one I would keep.
  17. It may be ridiculous, but I wouldn't expect anything less from Bonds. Then his manager should insist that he play rather than leaving the decision up to Barroids. The manager decides who plays and when, not the players. is there a link to where barry bonds has publicly said this? i highly doubt it's true. I think it depends on the situation, if they're going on a 9-game road trip, they're going to have to play him, however, if it's a 3 gamer then back home for six more, they might sit him. This is without looking at the schedule, mind you.
  18. Soriano is on a pace for around 14-15. I wonder if we'll get out of Soriano what the Mets got out of Beltran his first year.... hmmmmmm Yes. X's 8
  19. Weren't you big on Antonelli before? Did you cool on him or did White just grow on you more? Im an Antonelli guy. White's no different than, say, hiring Tim Wilken as our GM. I'd hire Ng before white. Who's Antonelli? Assistant to Shapiro in Cleveland. Regarded as one of the top GM candidates out there. Relies heavily on modern statistical methods. Sounds awesome. Pretty much guarantees the Cubs won't hire him. He probably won't even apply for the job. I have one last bit of hope because of McDounough. He strikes me as a sound business guy, so I'm hoping he will realize that this direction the Cubs need to take right now. He won't be around with the new owner. It's likely they make no GM change until the team gets sold. Pray it's someone like Cuban who would hire a Beane-type of GM. What gives you confidence that Cuban would go for a type like that?
  20. People keep saying this and it's not true. Neifi was dumped last year. Latroy was dumped. Remlinger was dumped. Borowski was dumped. Matt Lawton was dumped a month after he came here. Perhaps, but several of those were dumps that came long after it was painfully obvious that it was necessary.
