  1. But if you miss the 1st inning, you're likely to miss 33-100% of the Cubs offensive output for the game.
  2. I was absolutely heartbroken when this hack blew the game for the Tribe in the '97 series. Don't do it Jim.
  3. Oh god. I can see it already. :crosses fingers:
  4. You suck. Get it together.
  5. Cubs fans who hate the Cubs, a much needed support group. It was in Fight Club, no? In the room next to the testicular cancer group and just after the flesh-eating parasite group.
  6. I luuuuuuuuuv cotton candy.
  7. This suspension is an embarrassment to the game of baseball.
  8. Seems to be Pie, Lee, Derosa and Sori are better players under Tram. One game. ](*,) Tongue in cheek ](*,)
  9. Cobs. What can you say. This would be an excellent chance to gain ground in the division, but alas, we know how this story usually turns out.
  10. I actually found myself considering the possibility that Alan will be the manager when Lou bolts after this season. Can't decide if I would want him though.
  11. the part where he covers up home plate and draws a new one was fantastic. I love how he semi-carefully pats down the dirt all nice on the plate.
  12. That's what I was thinking. I haven't seen anything anywhere about this, other than his blog. I won't hold my breath, because even if this does happen, there's no guarantee that Lou is going to start Pie everyday like he should be.
  13. What a sorry, sorry state this team is in.
  14. Jeremy Giambi effect. Google it. What? Did you read the other posts made about Matt Murton or again, is this just based on your 'perception'? You do realize that these are not 'facts', right? These are perceptions, abstracts that you have created in your mind that really have little evidence to support them beyond your insistence that they do, in fact, exist. Next you're going to tell me that he doesn't have 'intangibles', or he isn't 'clutch'. No one is saying that Matt Murton is an MVP or a season saver. All we're saying is that he's a pretty decent ballplayer that when given regular playing time should perform as well as anybody else, and probably better, when doing so in left field.
  15. I've never really looked at one of these before, as I've been concentrating my number crunching on the offensive side. Anyone care to explain these stats in general or can link to a site that does? NM, I found it.
  16. Very true. We have good reason to believe that lack of regular, everyday-ish playing time is having a negative impact on their offensive output. All the more reason to hate Jim Hendry for this disaster he has created.
  17. Haha, didn't the Angels win with Erstad playing first? Didn't the Giants play against them with all sorts of placeholders in the lineup? Doesn't Kevin Millar have a ring? I could go on and on. Don't bother... silly, ignorant perceptions are blind to reason and, *gasp*, displayable evidence. They probably just shrug off anything you say anyway.

  19. Lou hasn't said anything in the media that I haven't to the tv, but he's their manager, not a fan. He owes them a certain amount of respect in the public arena. Rip them a new one in private. Make them ride the bench. You don't accomplish anything positive by tossing guys under the bus in press conferences. Quite the opposite. Oh god. Not this crap again.
  20. It's not that he's overrated, it's just that compared to the rest of the players/outfielders on this team, he makes the best case for playing everyday, and should be doing so in his natural position, LF. If Lou ever figures this out and moves Soriano to RF and we bring up Pie to play center, this should be a pretty decent outfield. If Floyd's fragility means that, in either case, Murton will be getting more starts and AB's, then I'm going to laugh my eyeballs out at the end of the season when he has the team's 3rd or 4th highest OPS+. Though that wouldn't be saying much with this team of jokers.
  21. Ditto. Good to see my fellow Sean performing well.
  22. Top-3 2008 draft pick, here we come!
