  1. Awesome. That is a pretty remarkable feat. Congratulations to him.
  2. Aww poop, I'm going to be driving to Carbondale while this is going on.
  3. I'd rather have a guy loaf to first on a sure groundout and be able to play the entire and lead the team in HRs and RBIs than have him get hurt on a play he would have been retired on anyway.
  4. to temper your excitement - jim hendry will be the one trading him. As much as Hendry does suck, has he ever really sucked with a trade involving major people with the exception of dumping Maddux for Izzy? I mean I definitely think hes a bad gm but he's usually pulled off awesome trades, for example Lee for Choi, the Aramis/Lofton for peanuts, Nomar (at the time at least). I don't see why it would be dumb to think that he could haul in good value for Carlos. With Jim Hendry at the helm, you have to hope for the best but expect the worst. I think Hendry is more inclined to sign him to a long-term deal rather than trade him.
  5. He's on fiya right now, and doing what the needs to do. Hopefully when he hits a rough patch they'll move him to the 8 spot and not to Iowa.
  6. He hit 96, I believe. I saw 97 on at least one pitch, but I never noticed him getting up to 98. Injured
  7. I don't like that trade if it involves our best young player, even if it is for monster OPS-guy Tex. Something else for Tex would suit me just fine, but what position will he play?
  8. This is an interesting scenario, however, I hope for the Cubs' sake it doesn't turn out this way.
  9. Big Fergie J disagrees. That being said, this thread should have been opened a while ago. I see two outcomes: 1) Z blows, totally sucks, 7 ER 2) Z rocks, 1 ER either way the Cubs probably lose because any time they need to win a game, they lose 4.
  10. I seriously doubt he breaks 95 on the gun. That being said, he's crazy enough to throw his torn up shoulder trying to top that.
  11. As if Chicago were the bastion of morality and upstanding behavior. If the guy can't handle TAMPA, I doubt he can handle Chicago. You know what? I lived in a Tampa suburb for 15 years of my life before moving here for college. I'm offended... in fact, you dissed my hometown, I'm so angry right now I could just......... AHHHHH, Elijah take it away: “Hey, dawg. It’s on, dawg. You dead, dawg. I ain’t even bullcornin'. Your kids too, dawg. It don’t even matter to me who is in the car with you. Ninja, all I know is, ninja, when I see your muthaluvin' behind riding, dawg, it’s on. As a matter of fact, I’m coming to your mothaluvin' house.” :) I almost fell out of my chair. Thank you.
  12. Haha, watching that celebration in the clinching game I saw Doug Glanville. I don't care what the stats say, I loved that guy.
  13. Good seats. Where is that second picture (Pie's double) taken from?
  14. He's regressing! No seriously, I fully expect him to start throwing good baseball pretty soon here, which is to be expected and is fully in character with him. That being said, I don't want Zambrano on this team much longer, despite my affection for him as a person. If he can heat up, he'll be a very good chip to trade for some young talent/A-Rod if the Yankees are in it and feel they are one pitcher away at the deadline. The last thing this team needs is a pitcher who is only good for 3 1/2 months out of a 6 month season.
  15. While this one move may point to that, the lack of obvious moves not being made leads me to believe otherwise. However, even if Lou did have more control over the roster, I don't see how that's worse than Hendry deciding who comes and goes.
  16. I agree. Something should be done about this. Perhaps renaming 'Baseball Discussion' to 'Chicago Cubs Discussion' and 'Rivalries' to 'Other MLB Discussion', or something like that.
  17. L. O. L. The man is absurdly maddening on the baseball field this year, yet always seems to please with outrageous quotes. Dear Z. No one cares how hard you throw. All that matters is whether or not you throw strikes and get batters out. P.S. Stop serving up gopherballs. Your name is at the top of the list in that category.
  18. AAAA It's a little early to be sticking him with that label. Perhaps.
  19. I wouldn't mind the move for those 2 reasons, but it does create a situation on the major league club where there is again no center fielder that can play against LHP. Felix Pie should be playing almost everyday. RHP or not.
  20. As if Chicago were the bastion of morality and upstanding behavior. If the guy can't handle TAMPA, I doubt he can handle Chicago.
