  1. Don't you understand? Cubs fans have to be miserable about something. Why not a charismatic Redheaded guy that likes to take pitches? I thought Lou called Murton the "adorable redhead." I was shakin it up a bit. He certainly is charismatic though, look at this huge following. Here are my feelings: As a guy that identifies with Murton, I feel bad for his situation, and I'd like to see him out there with an opportunity to better himself. As a Chicago Cubs fan I realize that the difference between Murton and Floyd are marginal (offensively, Murton might be leagues ahead defensively) so in the end it doesn't really matter that much. I'd love to have him out there, but we have worse problems at the moment, and aside from the goodday at the plate today, he hadn't really seem to be real comfortable with the bat, swinging awkwardly and often.

  3. I think we need a "when can we officially worry about the lack of no-hitters?" thread. We've needed that since 1972. How about "When can we officially worry about the lack of World Championships?" :D :D I like the concept, but it would be a short thread. Answer: 95 years ago. The End. or 98 years and counting  I think he was referring to a 3 year honeymoon period when we, as Cubs fans, weren't worried about the lack of World Series'.
  4. Its like people like Ken Harrelson listens to our little conversations and constructs this weird freakin statements to drive us wild. They have to be on some sort of inside joke. Honestly. They keep saying the stupidest most backward things over and over again. WAY BACK WAY BACK PUT IT ON THE BOOAAARRRRDDDD
  5. Just like when the Bears were entering the playoffs, I felt good for our chances of taking down the Conference title. The League title on the other hand? Not so good.
  6. Eddie Guardado has got a GIANT HEAD
  7. We still have Ben Wallace, and I don't know see how its any skinnier than Tyrus, Deng and Nocioni.
  8. I can't believe the day that I don't watch the Cubs is the one where they start cranking out those homers. I really hope that Floyd homer doesn't sway Lou more than a whole deluge of reasons to start Murton over him.
  9. are you serious or is this just a manner of speaking? Sure i'm serious. How relaxed is cliff when you have a 8-1 lead as opposed to the 8th inning with a 0-2 deficit. You seriuosly think that has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with it? Or to you seriously think baseball players are robots? I honestly believe computers play baseball. Computers that daily rape Joe Morgan's wife.
  10. Hahahaha, I got in an argument with my brother with DeRosa's career stats so I checked his Baseball-Reference page and was pleasantly surprised with this: Vance_the_Cubs_Fan sponsor(s) this page. You can sponsor a page. Page Expires: 2007-11-21 Alert Me! Well, you're better than Fast Freddie and Jose Macias. Welcome to Chicago. Visit http://www.northsidebaseball.com to discuss DeRosa and the Chicago Cubs. Go Cubs!
  11. This is hilariious. Who has complained about DeRosa on this board? Anyone? Ever? Seriously? The DeRosa signing wasn't loved by many on this board. *Since the beginning of the season. I think most Theriot lovers are satisfied with his playing time so far.
  12. The zero runs yesterday didn't have you convinced? Whenever someone makes statements like this, I sorta wonder how long they've been watching baseball. Offenses are always hit or miss, if you have the Yankees (More hit than miss) or ours. The "dependency" on home runs or "smallball" notwithstanding, hitting is a streaky thing that doesn't always come together every game for a large amount of runs.
  13. This is hilariious. Who has complained about DeRosa on this board? Anyone? Ever?
  14. Meat of the order coming up, DeRosa, Bizzaroturis and Marquis. I'm surprised that DeRosa hasn't really played much in the 2 spot this year so far, has even started there yet? EDIT: hahahahah
  15. Miller? ALL THIS TALK ABOUT TOMORROW GOT ME ALL CONFUSED WITH ME FINGERS
  16. Gah. Come on Miller, get out of this inning and let the Bullpen finish this one out.
  17. Wade Miller starting tomorrow? We're gonna lose a lot worse than 2-0, my friend.
  18. I'm actually kinda happy Soriano hurt himself a little. He can take a little break, bust himself out of the slump, and maybe we can try JJ in CF a little. Plus you are pretty much forced to play Murton now.
  19. The problem is when he starts against LHP ... for no discernable reason. He shouldn't have more than 50 AB's against LHP at the end of the season.
  20. That was an AWESOME game. 2004 was, by far, the most eventful season I've ever followed one of my teams through. 2005 Illini, *swoon*
  21. I never understood not challenging a hitter (especially the lead off hitter) who doesn't have much power. Whats the worst thing that can happen? They single really hard? Throw some strikes, man.
  22. This is about the best lineup we can put together without A-Ram.
  23. I wont be able to watch the Cubs on TV for the next 4 weeks or so, so maybe the whole bad luck with the season is my fault, and it'll all turn around for the next month. Either way, I'll be in this thread trying to stay posted, GO CUBS!
  24. You recognize that keeping the ball on the ground is a skill, and yet at the same time say that Marquis shouldn't be given credit for his .229 or whatever BABIP? If he can keep the ball on the ground, it usually WONT go for hits.
  25. Does the sample size argument only work when it is directed toward Floyd? CLIFF FLOYD IS VERY FAT
