  1. I can't believe the Braves have a guy whos almost literally Pedro Serrano
  2. While yesterday's difference making dongs were hit to the basket, each one of these crushed homers have been deep into the bleachers
  3. this feels like a coronation or something
  4. That Bryant homer was hit on a pitch similar to one Fangraphs wrote an entire article about months back when Bryant first came up: namely, how unusual and special it is that Kris Bryant can take an inside and down pitch and hit it to the opposite field with immense power. Good to see that stroke back. Love this team!
  5. This team is so much fun right now. They're just mashing. It's hard to remember the (very very) cold stretch they had. Slightly concerned about the pitching staff but I won't let it dampen my enthusiasm for them bats
  6. It's too bad Starlin Castro never summoned the immense energy of Ryan Theriot that causes fielders to just drop balls. It was certainly Theriot's greatest skill
  7. It's probably a bad idea to give the guy who's OPSing 1.000 for the past month a bunt sign LIke a really bad idea
  8. Eh... because Javy? I mean, yeah, I will certainly like him more than Herrera, in the sense that I know, deep down, somewhere, there is a chance he just blasts one into the bleachers. But, he was shown to be really bad last year. Like, he was worse than the guys we already have on the bench. And, even if he is "fixed," the bench is still gonna be pretty bad outside of him. But, we don't really need a bench for more than a pinch hit or two and a couple defensive replacements. So, whatever. I could produce a list of stars that have had a rough first go around in the majors, that lasted even more than a brief stay, but just imagine I posted that. Anthony Rizzo is one of those players, by the way.
  9. If I were a GM I would totally destroy my team by doing petty things like DFA Jonathan Herrera for offending me with his poor talent level I would be an absolute tyrant, and my team would be awful
  10. Jonathan Herrera...is not my first pick off the bench
  11. Just gonna pop in to say: Don't lose to these bums please Carry on
  12. All I ask out of a manager is to break from manager orthodoxies and to be as flexible as possible. Maddon has done that with flying colors, though sometimes in a delayed manner. He's not been perfect with the bullpen (no manager is) and its a tightrope between staying loyal and hoping for players to pitch out of funks and being too kneejerk and pulling and switching too soon (both in game, and as to what roles the pitcher fills). He's probably been a little too loyal (Motte, Soriano) but has never let that crash the team for too long. Aside from that, lineups are fine (and batting the pitcher 8th is apparently marginally better over the long by a very slim margin) he's kept bunts to a minimum, they're one of the best baserunning teams in the league, and he's been creative getting deserving talented players into the lineup with Schwarber and Coghlan. On the whole that's extremely difficult to quantify (and its laughable anyone would want to equate that to 20 wins) but he's been more than satisfactory.
  13. The coolest thing about that BABIP chart is that Anthony Rizzo is having his monster season with a .294 BABIP, so he could get even better without even improving his play at all with just a few more balls dropping for him.
  14. God I'm loving all the hot sticks everyone is waving on this team. They're just smoking the ball, even more than they were in the 9 game winning streak. Almost no one is hotter than Fowler, which is great. And even if the Nationals don't make the playoffs (they wont) Harper should win the MVP. Awards are where I don't let my homer flag fly, because bad decisions happen all the time and Bryce Harper is having a ridiculously amazing season on a garbage team of garbage hitters.
  15. "Foltynewicz" sounds like a guy who sucks, so i hope we hammer him
  16. 21 freakin hits by the Tigers, thats ludicrous
  17. The only thing I feel bad about these last two games is that we're hitting well and getting runs and they're going to waste because the pitching staff is going through a bad spell
  18. Lol got on the bus and checked the score. Jeez I feel bad for Hammel
  19. Well this might be an entertaining game before it gets rained out at least
  20. Fowler, even when he makes it in safe, has looked so ungainly and awkward on the base paths
