In response to your lineup in the other thread Roberts Fukudome Lee Ramirez Soriano Soto Theriot Pie I would do that too but isn't Piniella still going to leave Soriano in leadoff? That'd be great if he moved down though. Soto would give him protection. :D

Just IM'd my friend from Japan, who happens to be a Dragon's fan and he said the article states that Fukudome is "probably" going to the Cubs. No bad news is good news with JH...as you can tell I'm stretching for some good news.

I don't believe it. No way the Pads outbid us. I just can't see that happening. I agree - but I don't think they have to, they just have to get close. It's very possible Kaz Matsui's awful experience in NY has soured his HS teammate on media-heavy, high-pressure US markets. Mind you, I don't think SD offered 5/70 - I think 4/44 is more likely - but it seems Hendry will for sure have to go 5 years and $12m per to be able to overcome the mitigating factors. If it's only 5/60 we have to offer, we get him. If SD offered 5/70 and we have to significantly beat that...

Ok Monty....is it curtain 1 - 2 or 3? Don't forget to switch after they open one of the curtains with a goat behind it. Ahh man...did you have to say goat? That's the biggest problem with the Cubs. They never pay attention to the statistics and probabilities. :( Then go to Chicago and bug Mr. Hendry for job until he finally says yes. Offer him a box of doughnuts.
